Thank fucking god. (I mean, I shouldn’t question Trent, but it’s 2020 so who knows anymore)

Not surprising. I’ve been to shows where he’s dunked on Trump. That, and he’s historically skewed towards the left.

Fun fact: "Hand That Feeds" is literally about GWB and he wasn't allowed to perform it live on MTV (video awards?) in front of an unadorned pic of Bush during his presidency, so they simply didn't peform.

NIN to Trump: 'I'd rather die than give you control'
This song has been in my head on loop this whole Trump (i.e., Reagan Part Deux) presidency:

God money, I'll do anything for you
God money, just tell me what you want me to
God money, nail me up against the wall
God money, don't want everything he wants it all

No, you can't take it
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take that away from me
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take that away from me

Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control
Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control

Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve

God money's not looking for the cure
God money's not concerned about the sick among the pure
God money let's go dancing on the backs of the bruised
God money's not one to choose

No, you can't take it
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take that away from me
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take it
No, you can't take that away from me

Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control
Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control

Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve

Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve

Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control
Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control

Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control
Head like a hole
Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control

Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve

Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve
Bow down before the one you serve
You're going to get what you deserve

The rage that pulses through my veins is fed by this anthem. These fucking cunts will surely get what they deserve...karma is a bitch and real Americans are not for sale.

Good. Generally love Trent and NIN, so am relieved it has been reconfirmed he is not a moron.

Good! I wish he was still around to be one more strong voice in this world. Hopefully what he says resonates still among fans.
I have no doubt he would be rallying against Trump. He and Linkin Park were speaking truth for quite a while.

From 2006's Minutes to Midnight during the Bush administration.

For a leader so nervous in an obvious way
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay
And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day
In the living room laughing, like, "What did he say?"
I loved Year Zero, but a few of my other NIN fans did not. One said "NIN has gone to shit" and I was genuinely stumped as to what he meant.
It's actually my favorite NIN album.

Awesome, and yeah Year Zero is one of my favourites right up there with Fragile.

It's code for "Trent isn't depressed, so he isn't making The Fragile/Downward Spiral again."

Year Zero is one of my favorites. The concept of it, the songs, the story arc, etc.
Pretty much, some people look too far back into what once was, rather than seeing things are they are. I love albums with an over-arching theme/message.

I'm always so happy that my boy Trent is also a very decent person and I don't need to separate art from artist.

Year Zero has certainly been getting more play from me this year, so it's good to see this. Glad he hasn't done a strange 180 like other musicians this year.
