Not really, people keep forgetting that Pikmin 4 was never officially announced, so they don't need to showit/announcedit alongside Pikmin 3 port.
Metroid Prime 4/Samus Returns situation was very different, they officaly announced MP4 because huge potential backlash because 3DS is getting Metroid game instead of Switch.
I know it's not the exact situation of Metroid, I just think it would feel a bit strange for them to announce only a pikmin 3 port when miyamoto has been talking about pikmin 4 for years. Not that it would stop Nintendo from doing so, they do whatever they want. But I think announcing both together like MP4/Samus Returns would work well.

I was talking about the other companies, not Nintendo. The other guys (except maybe Sony, who also has Paris Games Week and PSX) always put everything they've got into E3, whereas Nintendo distributes its announcements relatively evenly throughout the year, so no one Direct or E3 stream is too big.
So if it's bigger than a Microsoft E3 conference

The eternal darkness stuff is probably nothing

Yeah I don't like when people ask if 2 and 3 are as good as one because saying they aren't kinda downplays them. They're still masterpieces imo, and better than most games I've ever played. The entire trilogy is definitely worth playing. I'd also say that although it has lower lows, Echoes has higher highs than 1.

Yeah they're all incredible games, which is something that sometimes gets lost when fans talk about 3 being the worst of the trilogy.

As for Eternal Darkness, yeah I assumed it was nothing but that's a pretty big name to tease in a tweet for a paid podcast so I'm guessing he had something to say about it.

What exactly did he say about Eternal Darkness 2? Or was it just in that tweet to get attention to his podcast?

He said that Denis Dyack wanted to do an Eternal Darkness 2 with Nintendo (who wasn't too keen on making it). So he pitched Eternal Darkness 2 to Nintendo in 2011 (he wanted to make it on the Wii U). After Silicon Knights went out of business and Dyack's teams disbanded, he tried to crowdfund it, and it didn't end up happening because they didn't make enough money. They looked for other publishers, but that didn't work out. Also, someone who Dyack worked with was arrested on child porn charges (I'm not joking)

Ah, okay thanks. Yeah that's all stuff that has been known for a while, possibly with the exception of Dyack pitching it to Nintendo directly.

Dyack burnt many bridges so it's not surprising no one wants to fund anything with his name on it

I think in this case they'll want to give Pikmin 3 a bit of chance before they announce the sequel, it could fill the Tropical Freeze slot from last year. They could always talk about the sequel later in the year if it's anywhere near ready.

Maybe they'll say "Pikmin 4 is now in development" and give us a placeholder logo like how they revealed Metroid Prime 4.

Dyack claims he got third party funding for Shadows of the Eternal but I've been searching and no one, anywhere, will admit to funding it. They've since gone extremely quiet and not talked about it.

The most notable thing Dyack has done since is get banned from Era.

So that confirms the Direct for next week once and fir all? Or does it?!
Pixelpar isn't exactly the one that is the most reliable or knows the most thing.
I like him, he's not a liar or anything, but he's not the one with the most infos. (And he don't want to pretend that he's the most reliable dude, he's pretty chill)

But I mean, every insiders from NintendoEra posted in this thread, so yeah.

Alright, so here's my predictions, I'll probably change them a bit before the big day, but here's a rough idea of what I'm thinking. Not expecting any big first party surprises, just what we've heard.

45-55 minutes, I'm thinking this one will be a beefy Direct.

First party:

-Joker gameplay reveal, stage is the castle/school, Kamoshida will be a boss in classic mode, Skull/Mona/Panther Mii costumes revealed, Spring release.
-Wave Race reveal, releasing in May.
-Pikmin 3 port, releasing in April.
-Metroid Prime Trilogy finally announced, summer release.
-Yoshi's Crafted World, short reminder, few more details.
-Animal Crossing, first reveal of gameplay, Summer.
-Boxboy 4 announced, releasing next week.
-Daemon X Machina, more details and footage, Summer release.
-Fire Emblem Three Houses, detail blowout, June release.
-Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, info blowout. May release, shortly after Endgame's release.
-New top down Zelda game revealed, takes place in a far away land, Fall 2019.
-Star Fox GP is finally announced, full gameplay reveal, Fall 2019.
-The hero from Dragon Quest is the second character of the fighters pass, revealed with an animated trailer done by Toei. No gameplay. Summer release.

Third party:
-Final Fantasy VII shadow drop, available right after the Direct.
-Resident Evil 0, Remake and 4 all dated. 5 and 6 are also announced.
-SEGA will finally announce Dreamcast games for SEGA AGES. Sonic Adventure, Virtua Fighter 3TB will be among the games featured.
-Mortal Kombat 11 will have some sort of reveal.
-NHM Travis Strikes Again DLC details and footage.
-Spyro Reignited Trilogy announcement, August 2019.
-SEGA AGES Sonic 2 will finally get a release date. Brand new content exclusive to the Switch version.
-Mana Collection finally announced. Vague 2019 date.

No-shows:
Platinum's new IP
Bayonetta 3
Mario Maker 2
Luigi's Mansion 3
Pokemon (of course)

Seems to be a common acceptance that Retro will be at E3 and/or they have a finished game. They've been practically MIA since E3 2013. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't show up again. Keep all expectations in check. It'll be a nice surprise if they do, but if they're missing again, it'll only be the sixth E3 and we're used to it.

I think you'll be disappointed. That would be more new 1st party reveals/announcements than on any digital event since the Switch released. IMO, it's more likely with a Spring Direct than Nintendo playing so many cards at one occasion.

King Zell and John Harker are the ultimate combo, and both have said or implied the 13th, so we're good.

Pokemon Stars confirmed

To be serious Pixelpar has been wrong a lot, but he likes to tease things. Of course Pokémon Stars I thought of lol. We don't need him to confirm a Direct is real. We know it's real with John Harker and King Zell.

But could Pixelpar still be hinting are Star Fox with the "stars are aligning"? "Star" Fox. Pixelpar does this all the time.

People have been predicting Retros game to show up at events/directs since 2016 to no avail, so I just never expect it anymore.

Same. I really hope we see Grand Prix on Wednesday.

I think it's about time. Especially if the game is going to be marketed as a "Q3" release, with a date no later than September.

At least an initial reveal with some gameplay, and then the full blow-out at E3. That's all I want!

And like you, I will definitely buy DMC1 and 3 AGAIN with no shame, whatsoever.
