wait wait wait, so direct announcement tonight (I'm central time), and direct tomorrow? Or direct announcement tomorrow and direct tomorrow.
All the Nintendo's are on the Zoom call still trying to decides when the best time to tweet.

direct announcement 11 pm central time and direct 9 am central
I could see a 12 AM announcement only because it would be 9PM on Nintendo's coast so it would essentially be them saying "There will be a direct tomorrow morning, have a good night".
I don't even know what to expect anymore. I'm just hopelessly and eternally along for this tumultuous rollercoaster ride that is Nintendo Direct speculation

I'm not in the business of commenting that "patterns must be observed" when it comes to Nintendo. I've always held that Nintendo exists to loosely establish commonalities and then bludgeon them with Mario's hammer as quickly as people begin to take notice of them. "But they'd never shadow drop a full Direct" means nothing to me. "How often do they announce on weekends? Never? It ain't happening." Again, total shrug.

now that I think about, hasn't Nate been saying that they may announce the direct late tonight? I never thought much about that but you'd think he'd assume they'd announce it in the morning or afternoon today unless he knows something else...
