I realise this is quite old now but I only just found it this morning, Unruly Heroes looks really cool.

WOW, that looks beautiful. I though surely this game must be using the UBI Art engine from Rayman, but the website says it's Unity 3D. However, the website also says they have many team members who worked on Rayman, so that makes a bit more sense. In any event, the resemblance is uncanny! I mean that in a good way, as we need more games that look like Rayman, in my opinion. Can't wait for a release date announcement.

So which is the better Musuo, the One Piece or Zelda Warriors game?
Maybe my opinion will change when I get my hands on the Definitive Edition, but I'd choose One Piece 3 over Zelda.

Hyrule Warriors is fun, but there are so many tiny issues, odd design-decisions, and overlooked details that they take away from the overall package.
One Piece Warriors 3 is just all-around a more pleasurable experience.

Switchwatch review for Sky Rogue:

Reviewer says it is fun, but shallow. Good for quick bursts but does have some dropped frames and load screen locking.

Developer has promised a patch to address locking issue which may or may not be ready for launch day update.

Some good news about Street of Red.

Reviewers in general has been really nice to us, giving us a solid 8 or above, often comparing us to Scott Pilgrim and Castle Crashers. Sales wise, it's more than I've dare hope for. In fact, at the time I am writing this, Streets of Red is actually ranked 9th on the Nintendo Europe eShop best selling chart! Having sold more than 10,000 copies, we have managed to recoup our porting and development cost in just under 10 days.

I am always glad to hear developers having success. Period. regardless of platform.

Running the soft number from the quote then? Game is like $8 USD? I am guessing the 10k units is worldwide. So $80k-ish Revenue, $56k-ish Net after Nintendo extorts its 30%

So $50k or so for porting and development. Seems like a good barometer flr this type/level of game.

I like the look of the game but their trailer is horrible. Was watching it with my wife and she kept saying it was cutting too fast to get a good idea ln the actual game. This would be something we play together.

Even if Sky Rogue has problems, the developer is awesome and his side projects deserve looking at (Policenaughts fan concepts?!) So they can have my money.

I like the look of the game but their trailer is horrible. Was watching it with my wife and she kept saying it was cutting too fast to get a good idea ln the actual game. This would be something we play together.

Few stages that you can choose, the order does some small changing to later stages, has some kind of "horde mode" where you battle groups of enemies, rpg like upgrades and you start with zero continues and have to spend money to earn it. It tries to be very old school but you can't even turn firendly fire on =P

Just want to re-iterate how much I appreciate these threads. Makes a big difference for me in reviewing everything on the Nintendo eShop. Thought for sure I was going to grab Sky Force Reloaded today, but now I have a lot more options on my plate based on people's reactions.

So, cheers!

'#Breakforcist Battle' has returned to the European eShop today.

Downloading now and read me, I will connect two giant speakers to the console and turn up the volume to the maximum.

So you will hear the neighbors in my apartment building complaining about these lazy indie developers making noisy games with not enough 3D graphical power.

For anyone who has bought it, just how bad does the Naruto games look in portable?
Only grabbed the first one. It's clearly low res, and the black outlines look pretty bad, but not as bad as the worst of XC2. I'm happy with it, but I am easy to please, and I knew it was going to be sub-native res going in.

Please report back on this game. Was thinking of grabbing it for the wife, because she likes Arkanoid-style games.

This question is a bit outdated but any opinions on Human Resource Machine? Work is leaving me with fewer logical programming challenges so I'm looking for something to find fulfillment. I was also looking at TIS-100 but that is not on Switch and I'm looking for a good handheld game. Are there any other programming games on Switch?

I have a list of over 100 games now, but we have skipped many bigger releases...

Personally, I complete more indies on the Switch than I have ever done on Steam.

Wow, that's interesting! Can you tell me how you've played your Steam titles? Laptop or desktop? Additionally, are you using your Switch docked / undocked?

I've had a Switch for six months or so now.

All in all I'm really happy with it- that's a pretty heavy load for me when normally I'd only play around a dozen games a year. I'm playing a greater variety of larger and smaller titles now, ranging from 200 hours in Skyrim...

Nice! Is this your 1st experience with Skyrim? I'm guessing because you're also a Vita owner, your Switch is used similarly so?

Wow, thanks! On my radar now. Adult Swim is revving up to be like Devolver- releasing quirky, fun titles.

I played Skyrim on PS3 at launch, massive bugs and all, but have put more time in on Switch already than over several campaigns and several years there, mainly as the quick sleep mode allows me to fit it in on my commute. I love that the controls are simple, wonky combat and all, and the gyro archery is awesome.

Yeah, the Switch feels like a natural progression from the Vita more than 3DS to me, although I love them all.

It's a good title for scratching that toy programming challenge itch. The whole game uses a basic form of assembly language in which more instructions open up as you progress. It starts off with extremely simple problems but gets quite complicated by the end - especially if you try to minimize your command and steps counts. And as a nice bonus, it also works Joycon-less with just the touch screen. I'm not aware of any other programming games like it on the Switch.

Soo, which Ultimate Ninja game is the best one of the bunch?
Hard to choose, IMO the best are 1, 2 and 4, with 3 being the only kind of disappointing one (though still good). 4 isn't available sadly.

I guess you should go for whichever covers your favorite story arcs? 1 covers the entirety of pre-Shippuden (skipping Zabusa for some reason) and 2 covers Shippuden up to after Pain's battle. I'd give 2 a slight edge because its adaptation of the story is sooooo good, but it's a pity that it abandoned the incredibly over the top finishers of UNS1.

''#Breakforcist Battle' is gorgeous, the most brilliant take that I have seen in the 'Arkanoid' formula, by fixing all the annoyances in the genre in very smart ways.

The superb sound design, the non-stop and over-the-top sense of action with a constant flow of power-ups, the brilliant scoring system... it's a breathtaking arcade experience.

And if you have more people to play, the game only gets better with its multiplayer mode.

2017041806311900-11A26D23333FB98A2550ED5C6ABAF9C1.jpg

But only with its single player mode, it will be one of my most played games in the coming months.

I adore this beauty.

It's so fucking good that it seems taken from a Japanese arcade cabinet in the 2000s, and latter ported to Dremacast.

Kudos to the indie development scene in Portland, because they are amazing.

And as a bonus track, here is an AMA in Reddit with the development team.

So, I guess that I should talk about Bombslinger because if I had to make a GotY list right now, it would be #1 on that list.

I love it that much.

I've been running through this game over the past couple of weeks, and it does a great job with the Bomberman-style gameplay. The enemy variety is also pretty good, especially for such a small game. The unlockables, which include special powerups, weapons, and extra powerup/weapon slots are varied. Most importantly, the game is FUN, and it can be frenetic at times. I do think that having two bosses per level (except for the final level) is a great way to keep multiple runs feeling fresh and not too much like one another. One of my issues with Rogue Legacy, which is another roguelike that I also liked very much, was that the bosses were the same, and really, the boss order was best kept the same unless you wanted to up the degree of difficulty on yourself.

It's only twelve dollars, and I strongly suggest that anyone who liked Bomberman's single-player modes back in the day buy this. It is so, so good and deserves more love from everyone.

The game is great. I played it on Android. I don't think I ever beat it though. You get rewarded for writing a program with the fewest possible commands and I spent a lot of time rejiggering my code to get it to run more efficiently. I don't know what the price is on switch but if it's $5ish I'd grab it. The recoding adds a good bit of replay value if you get sucked into perfecting it like I did.

Since it seems you have programming experience already, I'm going to give you a more detailed answer than others here about the quantity and difficulty of content. (When I picked up the game I didn't feel like I received an adequate picture of it either, so I'll write the post that I would have liked to see myself.)

I played the game on Switch last year and cleared it to 100%, which took a little over 10 hours.

The problems in HRM are kind of like a review of elementary algorithms. Most or all of them will be familiar to you: you start with implementing basic things like arithmetic operations (implement addition, then multiplication, then modular division—simple stuff) and work your way towards the basic searches/sorts and a few introductory problems like GCD and factorization. It doesn't get more involved or difficult than that: the challenge comes mostly from dealing with an extremely low limit on memory space (which means you can't get too fancy with advanced sorting algorithms; space complexity matters more here than it does in most day-to-day practical programming) and from the advanced objectives, which I'll say more about further down.

You're given assembler-like instructions (read to/write from memory, jump, check a boolean conditional) and you drag and drop the steps either by touch (handheld) or gyro-based pointing with the Joy-Con (tabletop/docked). I found it most comfortable to play by touch but with the Joy-Cons detached. The Switch is actually a very comfortable device for this (smaller than a tablet and nice to hold, but larger than a large-format phone for more real estate on screen), especially given the interface of the game, where all of the coding happens on the right column and can be manipulated with your thumb. Late in the game, your scripts will turn out longer than the column is able to display at once, so there comes a point where there's a lot of scrolling and it's a bit cumbersome to point your jumps/loops from one end of your script to the other, but other than that the UI is fine.

You're allowed to save/edit three scripts per problem, which is just right, because every problem comes with two advanced objectives: a benchmark for "fewest executed steps" and a benchmark for "fewest lines of code"—one that is about optimizing for edge cases and one that is about refactoring your code to reduce redundancy. The latter is pretty easy, but the benchmarks for the former are actually nice and tight: I found that even as an experienced programmer I had to write shortcuts for a lot of edge cases or best cases to cut just enough corners.

The thing that makes HRM a nice and accessible programming game is that the built-in tracing/debugging features are excellent. When you play your algorithm (which you can speed up) the game generates a random set of inputs, gives you a cute visualization of the entire runtime trace (the little humans shuffling numbers around), and when it breaks, it's very clear about what the stack looks like and where you are in the code, and it lets you step back through the replay like a good debugger should. The input generation is also smarter than most players may realize—it catches a ton of edge cases and also calls out players for writing solutions that are tailored to the first input string they see but doesn't work for anything else. It's very clean and it's what makes the whole experience of playing the game more like a game than work or a textbook exercise. There's no frustration in finding out what went wrong.

With that in mind, you'll have to decide if you find this challenging or deep enough. There is also a sequel coming, 7 Billion Humans, which is built around problems in parallelization and might be more interesting for those who found HRM too straightforward.

Huh, so what's this "Sky Peace" game that's only a dollar on the eShop? Looks like it's just a port of some mobile game, but it doesn't look terrible.

You are bad for my wallet. I've been eyeing this one since it came out but I will probably finally get it now. I love Arkanoid and the art is quite cute. The fact that it was a mobile game was what held me back.

I keep thinking about double dipping on Rocket League but I just can't justify it when I have the game on PS4 and could buy a game I don't have yet instead.

KORG Gadget is fantastic. I've been using it on my iPad for years. Easy and intuitive for a beginner, deep and rich enough for the advanced. The iOS version is regularly updated with new DAW instruments, I'm curious to see if they bring them over to Switch as the base package doesn't include the DAWs they've released as DLC.

I'm an avid fan of the product, it's an amazing value for a solid music production suite when compared to others. The only reason I'm not picking it up on Switch is because I've already invested a lot of money on the iPad version's additional DAWs.

You can also upload to their cloud and share your music with other Gadget users, which is cool. Sometimes it's nice to browse the feed and get some inspiration.

They have completely redone the original mobile game. Instead of touch based controls, the movement works with a button to increase the speed, or a slow and accurate movement without pushing this button.

The new local multiplayer mode inspired in 'Puyo Puyo' is a Switch exclusive.

And do you know that its music composer, Pete Ellison, worked in the 'Dance Dance Revolution' series for Konami? :)

Also, while the soundtrack in '#Breakforcist Battle' is amazing, you should wait to listen how the music is used in combination with the powerups and the HD Rumble.

The bullet-time never felt so good in a game!

I checked the eShop page of that Agatha Knife game out of morbid curiosity and what the hell at that description lmao.

Also I never noticed but Hello Kitty Kruisers is technically the one existing Diddy Kong Racing spiritual successor that I know of.
