Some quick Sol Seraph impressions (portable only, I don't do docked):

- Very blury, 720p this is not for sure. Strange because it's not exactly a looker either. It's also a bit frame-y.
- Side scrolling action is... weird. It's very deliberate in a old school way (which makes sense given what it's emulating) but it also feels janky, which also makes sense given the developers lol. It's definitely an aquired taste and requires getting used to (like you swing your sword, you best be sure that's the direction you want to swing because you're stuck in that animation for 1 seconds or whatever and you cant turn around during it for example).
- Tower defense actually seems interesting, it has a lot more city-building aspects than I expected, making farms for food, lumber mills to gather wood etc, you even have to make roads to expand your build area and connect buildings, so much so that I fucked up my layout completely and I actually had to restart the game (lol), and this was in the tutorial (I guess). When you clear a wave you can attack the spawn point which takes you back to side scrolling, you kill a few baddies in a camp and get a mana upgrade when you win (at least that's what I got), but strangely the spawn point did NOT dissapear so I don't get it. My woodcutters also weren't working, I guess they don't work while you're attacked im not sure, so yeah I fucked up that whole thing heh. But it seemed interesting for sure.
- Also the game is fucking hard. Like I said I had to restart the game for fucking up the defense part (it auto saves so you're SoL if you fuck up), but the side scrolling first level killed me a few times (mostly because of the weird controls).

So yeah, I know I sound super negative but I actually dug it and will definitely restart with a better understanding of the whole thing now.

EU sales continue to trickle in as usual, Little Nightmares is 57% off (I know some EU peeps were bummed when NA got it on sale a few weeks ago)

Yesterday, I beat Vice: Project Doom in one sitting. It's a mix of Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden and Shadow of the Ninja, including some level surprises.

Biggest surprise of a NES game on NSO until now. I didn't know anything about it.

I've been doing some detective work about Risk of Rain 2, and it looks like they are making an announcement on August 30th. But more interestingly, according to the early access release plan the game doesn't hit '1.0' until Spring 2020.

I think in the Indie Direct it said Summer 2019, so I guess this means technically the eShop version will be an early access version? Have any other games done this?

Somewhere. I think.
NA:

  • Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch
    • SUPERHOT – Blurring the lines between cautious strategy and unbridled mayhem, the SUPERHOT game is the FPS in which time moves only when you move. No regenerating health bars. No conveniently placed ammo drops. It's just you, outnumbered and outgunned, grabbing weapons off fallen enemies to shoot, slice and maneuver through a hurricane of slow-motion bullets.
Hotline Miami Collection – The Hotline Miami Collection game contains both games in the neon-soaked, brutally challenging Hotline Miami series from Dennaton Games.
DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive EditionDemo Version – You are the Luminary, the hunted hero who will protect the land from destruction in the latest RPG from the iconic DRAGON QUEST series. With a ragtag band of adventurers, you'll engage in well-balanced, turn-based battles and embark on quests across the kingdom of Erdrea. Try out this free demo before the game launches for the Nintendo Switch system on Sept. 27. You can even carry your progress to the full game.
  • Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online
    • Kung-Fu Heroes – Monsters have taken Princess Min-Min and the 10 treasures of the land, and the people have fallen into sorrow. Only Kung-Fu Masters Jacky and Lee can save the princess and retrieve the treasures. Their journey will take them to eight different castles filled with hosts of traps and obstacles. Use punches and the Miracle Kick to defeat the enemies. You will need quick wits and lightning reflexes to make it to the last castle.
Vice: Project Doom – There exists a group of undercover detectives who dare stand up to the evil in the world... They are known as Vice. Officer Quinn Hart, a member of Vice, is on the case and after the truth. High-speed car chases, action-packed battles employing three types of weapons and a mode with three 3D rail-shooting stages all bring this cyberpunk world to life.

IMPLOSION is on sale. It never got much recognition, but it's a really fun and stylish top down action game.

Buy Snake Pass, young lads. I bought it during the last sale and it could very well be the best game I've played in 2019 (maybe a tie with Ringo Ishikawa). The controls are incredible once you get the grip, the game is beautiful (one of the best ps4 to Switch comparison) and the music is from David Wise.

Yesterday, I beat Vice: Project Doom in one sitting. It's a mix of Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden and Shadow of the Ninja, including some level surprises.

Biggest surprise of a NES game on NSO until now. I didn't know anything about it.
Dang, one sitting. I can't even figure out how I'm supposed to beat the second boss!

I played the first few levels and I can tell that this'll become one of my favorite NES games. It's still weird to me to see SEGA as the publisher though. lol

Btw, what's the game in the first banner in your poll?

Never heard of those before, wouldn't say not to a port! With Spelunky is that the last major indie from the Vita days? I just have my Dangaronpa games and I think that's it that I have to play

With Jamestown+, Hotline Miami 1 & 2, Superhot, and What Remains of Edith Finch crossed off the list in the past few months, here are most of the major indies that are still MIA on Switch:

• Braid
• Fez
• FTL: Faster Than Light
• Kerbal Space Program
• Nidhogg
• Papers, Please
• Return of the Obra Dinn
• Spelunky
• Subnautica
• The Stanley Parable
• The Talos Principle
• The Witness

...Any I've missed?

I had lucky on the second attempt.

Crawl close to him and sword.

I'm very curious to see how they'll handle this. I guess we'll have more info on the 30th at PAX West.

The game looks fun! Hopefully it'll have gyro control on Switch...

Wow, I wasn't huge on Bastion when I played a couple hours of it however many years ago, but I'll definitely give it another go at that price; it seems like something I'd appreciate more now anyway...and I've wanted to try Transistor for awhile now too, wild sale.
