Finally got a chance to play Super Mega Baseball 2 for real and damn, it's literally everything I needed in a baseball game on Switch.

The lower res in handheld mode is a bummer, but far, very far from being a dealbreaker.

Blah! When I tried to purchase the vouchers they just added the funds to my eshop balance. Basically the worst of all possible outcomes. I hope customer service can issue a refund...

I'm kinda interested in Chroma Squad
Anybody's biting?

-

Also, are there still differences between SF Anniversary Collection EU/US and the JPN's SF2 Anniversary Collection INTERNATIONAL EDITION?

Have the International Edition updates been patched in? Or is the western release still only US roms etc like the japanese vanilla release was?

that permanent price drop for Crystal Crisis (which should have been the initial price anyway but I digress) now matches the steam price so thats nice, if only the Monster Boy dudes would do the same >_>

How much more can I resist the Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle? 40% off... but I want it physically. :( Supposed to get round to importing it at some point, but the digital one is so much cheaper!

So looks like that trial for Mario Tennis applies to the US as well.

Personally, I'm hoping I can download Captain Toad considering I got the Famicom app no problem. I do wonder if this will be the start of Nintendo offering free period for games, perhaps mainly ones they feel could use a boost in sales.

Oh, I didn't know Pix The Cat was coming to the Switch! And it's going to be released next week! This is one of my most played games on the Vita.

Stupid question from a switch owner for 2 years.
Does the switch support ad hoc multiplayer? Like old school psp and ds used to do without internet

So, Dragon Ball Fighter Z on Switch is on a pretty great sale. Worth it? Apparently the online is dead, so it would be single player only, I guess?

that permanent price drop for Crystal Crisis (which should have been the initial price anyway but I digress) now matches the steam price so thats nice, if only the Monster Boy dudes would do the same >_>

off topic but WonderBoy (sorry, not Monster Boy, got confused)is also one of the free games (on PC of course) with twitch prime starting today.

While we're asking stupid switch questions, what's the real method for waking a sleeping switch up via controller/joycon? I usually mash home but even that doesn't always work.

Trying to decide whether I should pick up Fire Emblem Three Houses or Ys VIII. I haven't played either series, but the recent threads and reviews have piqued my interest. They both look like rather substantial experiences, so if I could only chose one, which would people recommend?

Seeing the Lord of the Rings Card Game makes me want Magic Arena on Switch. But there's close to 0 chances of Wizards of the Coast porting that.

Well, I'm not personally a fan of strategy RPGs, so I would go with Ys by default. With the caveat that the Switch version suffers from spotty performance in some areas. Nothing too bad, but if you can play it on PS4 instead, do that.

wow I don't think I have ever seen a game with this option then. Mind giving me an example?
Smash would be the biggest example, and in general, most of Nintendo's multiplayer games support it. There's no system level feature like the DS and 3DS' Download Play, so both systems need to have the game to play it together (except for a few games that released on the eShop a special version for playing multiplayer with a system that does have the game). Various other games support it as well.

Both are considered great games, but they're very different from each other, so you should probably consider whether you prefer an action game or a turn-based game right now.

I feel that unless I have it on handheld, I probably won't commit to playing it, which is a bit silly on my part. Shame about the platform-specific performance issues though, as that can be especially detrimental in an a-rpg.

True, I'm just experiencing analysis-paralysis, because both look appealing at the moment.

I can only play jrpgs on handhelds. It's a must for me. Last time I played a jrpg on a console hooked up to a tv was around 15 years again. I have started Lost odyssey on xbox one maybe 5 times and never got too far.
The best world would be one where all games that take more than 20 hours to complete have to release on handheld :)

Just hold in the Home button, depending on your signal to your Switch it can take a second or two to react.

Btw, to anybody who likes Blade Runner-esque and transhumanist themes:

Don't miss out on State of Mind.

It is a well done interactive story by daedalic, about 10-12 hours long. Couldn't put it down for a week until I finished. To those who pay attention to story details it will be much more profound and intelligent than the plot of Detroit (which is not that hard to achieve of course, but still). The game's main author / designer Martin Ganteföhr is well-known for writing adult adventure stories.

The main character (an unsympathetic anti-hero for story reasons) is spoken by Geralt's English voice actor Doug Cockle.

While it doesn't come without weaknesses, 14€ are a steal for this one.

I'm planning to double dip on Chroma Squad, and I'm also interested in Robbie Swifthand, Fobia, and Dungeon Warfare.

The game releases are not easing up.

I've also been playing Forager in between Fire Emblem sessions. Outside of Dragon Quest Builders I've never gotten into survival crafting games but Forager is great fun. Feels very streamlined and polished.

I wasn't quite as big on the sequel as the first game at the time. Though it mostly had to do with the abysmal performance on the N64 that held it back for me. I expect this port to perform quite well and control very nicely, so my view on the game could change. But despite it having bigger levels, more variety, more weapons, something about it didn't quite gel for me. I adored exploring, collecting, and conquering Turok 1, but less so in 2. Looking forward to revisiting to see how I feel now though.

Oh and its been awhile, but I also recall liking Turok 3 quite a bit on N64. Its campaign was quite solid. I felt it was a big improvement over Turok 2 at the time. It was going for a HL feel, which was newly popular at the time.
Thanks for your impressions. I do hope it will be fun and at least better than 1.
There is basically no enemy respawn in Turok 2 unless you get out and come back to a level or use a teleporter. The other exceptions are Hive of the mantis or lair of the blind ones where some minor enemies (spiders, insects) constantly come out of some holes but you can just ignore them. In turok 1 enemies would respawn based on certain distance.
Nice! No enemy respawn during a level would be awesome. Now I can explore levels without worrying about ammo as I almost always run out of ammo in 1 because I like taking time to explore every nook and cranny.
