For people jumping back into Dead Cells (I did as well, beat it for the first time), there is a free dlc you can download from the eShop that I think adds a new area and maybe some other stuff. Not sure why they didn't just make it an update if it was going to be free, but just a heads up for those that might have missed it.

What can you guys tell me about Assassins Creed III?

I've watched a few reviews. I know it's not exactly the best in the series and I know there are performance issues (from what I've seen, I'm fine with that).

Black Flag is the only AC game I've played. Gameplay was fun (as I'm a sucker for collecting stuff in games), but I'm not really interested in pirates, so... yeah, it was ok. I know ACIII is about the American Revolution, which sounds more interesting to me. As a Brazilian guy who would like to know more about the American Revolution, is the game worth it? I mean, as some kind of history lesson? Are there profiles you can read about historical figures or real events recreated in the game?

Also, I assume there's lots of stuff to collect, right?

ACIII is a pretty huge game with a lot to see and do. It suffers a bit from sluggish pacing as it spends a lot of time upfront on the exposition over giving you access to the game. Once it does get going, the game will feel familiar in many ways to Black Flag, similar feel and mechanics. But it will take several hours before you can start running around the map and slicing throats. Many hated that apparently.

Plenty to learn about the revolution, though through the lens of Assassins Creed. Many major historical figures you cross paths with, but the focus is on the war between the Templars and Assassins, and how the game retrofits history to fit that personal vendetta...which can be both obnoxious and interesting at times. So you will get some surface level understanding of the period and the major players and events. The codex does provide better insight into the history though, plenty to read in game on the people and events.

Connor, the main hero, lacks the personality of the hero in Black Flag. He is laser focused on his mission and isn't very magnetic, another popular complaint. The game also kind of wraps the modern story that began in AC1. Probably the largest complaint of AC3 is how it handles it. If you haven't played AC1 and the 2 trilogy, I'm not sure how much you'll actually get out of that side plot. But the core Connor story is self contained.

Slightly interested in Iconoclasts. Any recommendations?

And buy Slime-san y'all, the OST alone is worth the price of admission. The game is lovely, too.

The giant bomb discussion made me somewhat interested in mortal kombat but I guess playing on switch might not be that nice compared to the other consoles due to joycons, framerates etc

Anybody here happy or regretful about their MK purchase?

Ok, is NoE sending a different press release to some outlets? I just checked past two PR, and they make the NA PR look exhaustive in comparison. What on earth happened? There's so much stuff missing, it's a complete joke : /

It's not even about sales only, they only have highlight releases anymore -___-
Yeah, they completely fucked it up all of a sudden.

Nintendo, removing features since 1990.

OH
For people jumping back into Dead Cells (I did as well, beat it for the first time), there is a free dlc you can download from the eShop that I think adds a new area and maybe some other stuff. Not sure why they didn't just make it an update if it was going to be free, but just a heads up for those that might have missed it.
I found that out yesterday, I thought it was just an update too.

Will I like Y's if I enjoy Xenoblade 2? Can I play with japanese voices and english text?

Well, you'll have a tolerance for poor performance and objectifying character designs, which are both games' achilles heels.

The combat systems are incomparable, though, even if both are real time. Ys is very fast-paced action with timed dodges and parries, while XB2 was slower and more methodical.
(Consequently, Ys' poor performance more heavily affect its combat. Even when it's stable—which it usually is, there are just areas that tank—the halved FPS relative to other systems makes it more difficult to execute parries.)

I enjoyed both a lot. If you're able to play Ys VIII on a more powerful system, I would recommend that though. The Switch version is not a fantastic port. It's not pretty, FPS is halved and chugs hard in certain segments, and there's a bizarre dynamic resolution bug that makes the background constantly refocus in every single conversation.

Don't remember about JP voices. Sorry.

Damn it. I was hoping Heart & Slash would go on sale but nope. In fact, some of the games I was expecting to see on sale are just there without a discount, casually laughing at me.

I did saw that Penny Punching Princess and The Longest Five Minutes are 62% off but I dunno... I feel like in the future they'll be even cheaper.

Na here

Heart and slash is a blast, especially once you get a hang of the systems

I thought the day would never happen, but Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition is on sale :o

www.nintendo.co.uk

Charge into battle!

Cut down entire legions of enemies as fan-favourite The Legend of Zelda characters using powerful moves in Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch.

Hell does freeze over it seems.

I popped Hyrule Warriors in the other day after owning it for 2 years (......lol)
And it is GREAT!!

I have always enjoyed Musou games and I think this is the most fun I've had. Of course in large part because I'm listening to Zelda remixes, running around familiar areas, getting rupees and hearts and of course controlling all sorts of characters from the series.
Not that I need to say this but if you want a great Musou and like Zelda, get this game! Seems to have an absurd amount of content too...

I pounced on it as soon as I saw it was on sale. Having it digital to just dive in for quick sessions seems the perfect way to play I reckon.

There's some amazing other stuff on sale as well, tempted by Neo Cab as well as Children of Morta. Oh well, who needs to eat huh?

Ok, is NoE sending a different press release to some outlets? I just checked past two PR, and they make the NA PR look exhaustive in comparison. What on earth happened? There's so much stuff missing, it's a complete joke : /

It's not even about sales only, they only have highlight releases anymore -___-

EU downgrade after Shibata departure is real.

Don't sleep on Darksiders: Genesis, I'm buying it again for my Switch if it's technically solid. I really loved this game on PC. One of the most fun action games I've played in a while. Great visuals and an amazing score by Gareth Coker who also did the Ori soundtrack. It is a fairly meaty game with lots of great levels and some well animated beasties to slay. Two different characters with distinctly different play styles to switch between (or play coop) mix up the flow, but you can choose to play your preferred character most of the time if you want and only switch for some occasional puzzle solving which requires character specific abilities. I liked playing both War and Strife.

I own both of those - here are some not-asked-for impressions!

Children of Morta, I have onnPC and personally love it. It's a rogue like with permanent progression and a really different approach to storytelling. I heard Switch had some pretty big performance issues and a patch was being worked on but I don't know if that has released yet. 8/10

Neo Cab - I have this on Switch and have played an hour. It's really cool. The whole night time driving in a neon ish city is a cool vibe. The conversations and characters have me very interested, and the "gameplay" is an odd mood ring where your emotions (happy, angry, lethargic etc) change as you talk to people. The emotional state affects what you can say and really takes this out of "visual novel" territory into something more hands on. You get paid by riders and have to buy gas and sleep. Riders also rate you and you are trying to get the best ratings. There is a larger story at play as well. Honestly it's enrapturing, unique, and I need to get back to it. Highly recommended at any price lol 9/10
