I started Super Mario Odyssey yesterday, and so far it is awesome! Just finished the desert world and started the Forest one.

Anyone knows if there are different DLC between the japanese and the western version of Taiko no Tatsujin? Any exclusive songs I would miss? I will be in Tokyo soon and might get the japanese one as my next game.

Can someone share an invite to the NintendoEra Discord server?

I got the Japanese one and the game is exactly the same, on song selection also, as the western version.
For now i think all the dlc is exactly the same also.

So R-Type Dimensions EX is 40% off (NA eshop). I vaguely remember someone saying something bad about this... I know how the original R-Type plays, but is there any issue with this particular version?

The platformer MagiCat is on sale for $1.25. I remembered reading favorable impressions of it. Anyone here play it?

It's quite good. Some later levels can be more frustrating than fun if you're going for a 100% completion, but it's an easy recommendation--even at full price--so $1.25 is must get to me.

I never played the original but adored Elite. It's my favourite VN by a mile. As other have mentioned, there isn't much gameplay apart from a few choices you have to make here and there, plus the plot takes a while to really get going, but the story and presentation are absolutely top-notch.

If there's minimal gameplay, is there that much of a difference just watching the anime (I realize they added some animation, just not sure of the extent and if it actually changes much)

Thanks Phil! I'm looking forward to playing it this weekend then. I'll pick it up today. Is the frustration in 100%ing based on level difficulty, fighting the controls, or some other reason entirely?

Imagine being me and discovering that not only the gameplay of Snake Pass (that I bought 7 euros on sale) is brilliant, but that the music is made by David Wise. I just played a couple of hours so far and whatever happens, it was a well worth purchase. The game could even become a visual novel now and I'd still not regret buying it.

Great game. I enjoyed it pretty much from start to finish. Don't stress too much about finding all the hidden things in each level either......

Mate I admit that I am all about that collectible life so far. Some of them are freaking hard and the controls, while excellent, are challenging at first so I kinda suck. But I'll keep your advice in mind, because if not I'll never finish the game.
Anyway, I bought it on sale but honestly, I've bought worst games full price. I'm really happy for this unexpected hit in a month during which nothing was really interesting me.

Monster Hunter Generations is 50% off and LA Noire is 70% off in EU this week.

Is Generations really 50% off though? Capcom has this annoying habit of dropping the physical retail price and not the digital one, so the 50% off digital is not really 50% off. Like in the US it brings it down to 30 bucks when physical retail is 40.

I just saw that both Xeodrifter and Mutand Mudds Collection are 90% off each.
I'm pretty sure they won't go lower than that so definetly getting both along with A Robot Named Fight. But first I need to finish Picross 3D on my WiiU.

Edit: You can download a demo of the Kill La Kill game on the japanese eshop.

Sounds good! Will be getting it for sure.

Just so you know, it's cartoony, arcadey and easy to pick up but the difficulty system let's you put it anywhere from 1 - 100 and anything above like 70 is brutal haha.

A lot of the fun for me also came in designing my own team logos and uniforms!

The platformer MagiCat is on sale for $1.25. I remembered reading favorable impressions of it. Anyone here play it?

I played it through on Steam. I did not expect a cute game with a cute cat to be one of the most frustrating single player games I've ever played, but it was. The beginning of the game is so easy too, it does not prepare you for what's to come.

Even though I was kinda hate-playing it for the last third of the game, for $1.25 I say it's worth it. It follows the philosophy where each level introduces some kinda unique mechanic, and there's a good number of levels, so plenty of content. I suggest not caring for 100%ing the game for your own sanity.

If there's minimal gameplay, is there that much of a difference just watching the anime (I realize they added some animation, just not sure of the extent and if it actually changes much)

There is more content in the VN than in the anime. There are multiple routes with their own endings not shown in the anime, and there is generally more detail for every character, as well as neat little info dumps about the world that are fun to read.

I'm not sure exactly how much more content there is in total as I've barely started it, but if you've seen and enjoyed the anime this seems to me like the perfect way to experience it again, and if you haven't there's a good case to be made that this is the better way to experience the story, depending on personal preferences.

That tough, huh? Wow. How would you say it compares stop at like Tropical Freeze or Celeste in terms of 100%ing? And is it pretty doable to beat it if I don't go for 100%? Thanks!

I haven't gone for 100% in Tropical Freeze. And 100% in Celeste was tough, but always fair (excluding golden strawberries, I only got some of those). I never really got frustrated with Celeste except for a few C-sides. Magicat has stuff like puzzles where if you make 1 wrong move you have to kill yourself and respawn at the checkpoint or timed challenges where after the first couple worlds you seemingly have to do it perfectly or kill yourself to go back to checkpoint to retry, and the challenges are usually a bit of ways away from the checkpoint. It's tedious stuff like that that made me not want to do it.

Getting through the game isn't really that hard. You can respawn where you died for the cost of lives, though the cost exponentially increases for successive respawns on the same level. There was some kinda bonus for not using respawns though. I don't remember if it actually did anything or just put a checkpoint on the level or something. But I gave up on that too.

There's still been no indication that the Castlevania Collection is getting a physical release right? About to click the GIMME button.
Nope. They've been pretty stubborn about there only being digital versions too, repeating it on Twitter and adding disclaimers to the official sites lol.
I bought the Mega Man X Collection, and none of the SNES games run well at all. I feel pretty bad about that.
Yeah this is very well-documented (and many people don't notice it) so I sometimes forget to mention it, but yes, on Switch the SNES games included in X LC have some annoying input lag. It's a shame because every other game runs perfectly.

Also heads-up, the MM Legacy Collection 1 (as in classic Mega Man) is even worse about this, but only on Switch.

Well, I don't think I'll be completing Black Paradox. Not because I don't want to, but because the game is fucking hard. I made it to the final boss once, lost, and haven't been able to get there again. As far as I can tell, there are no upgrade chips that give you more than 10 stat points, so I've effectively hit the stat cap and can't make the game easier by improving my car any further. I wish there was a way to lower the difficulty a little.

I started Sundered and this game is awesome. The art is wonderful.
