Mutant Year Zero is up for pre-purchase and I'm seriously toying with dropping the $45 to have it on the go

just looking to scratch that X-COM itch since for some reason 2K is leaving money on the table by not porting that to the Switch
I'm gonna preorder, but I get paid a few days before release, so I'll do it then.

Someone will ask you to get their daughter from Witchwood.

Will note though that since it expires rather quickly, you can't really mess around too much in the story, and the route to Witchwood have some heavy hitting bandits, so it's best to avoid them.

Is this called Lost and Found? Just been reading online and it sounds like that quest.

I gave up on dragon's dogma.
This game isn't for me.
I hate the artistic direction (faces are an horror) , the story is meh at best and doesn't incorporate the quests themselves , the pawn system is weird and I can't stand how they're constantly saying the same things at the same places, traversal is horrendous with your character being slow AF...
Combat can be fun though.

I never played the game but literally everything I've seen from it aligns with your impression, and it's the main reason why I haven't bought it yet even though the game is highly praised here and is currently on sale.
I really want more open world adventure games on Switch but this has always felt off to me.

Your loss. It is an amazing game that I've put many hours into on PS3 and PC. It starts out slow and yes the story is mostly bland and nonsensical, but the end game events and content is where it's at. There's very few games like this one. I'd say that the strengths of the late game far outweighs the mediocre journey to get there - view the story as the tutorial for the real game. I'm not defending the mediocre/suboptimal parts of the game, just saying that there's a fantastic game in there that it takes a little too long to arrive at.

It's not really his loss. I would say that his viewpoint is pretty spot-on and he hasn't even played the game yet. Dragon's Dogma does some things well, but it is absolutely bogged down by many negative aspects.

You are probably right, but I'm really turned off by this game, for reasons hard to explain.
For instance, one of the things I am looking for in an open world game is the lore, the sensation of having an adventure in a beautiful far away land, the atmosphere. Skyrim, for as old as it is, was really amazing to me, and there was nothing like crossing a mountain under a snowfall with the music of Jeremy Soule; even if Skyrim's combat is horrendous. Dragon's Dogma never gave me this impression from what I have seen of it (and again, I may be completely wrong), though the combat indeed seemed quite fun.

Champ is imo easily the worst Act 2 boss. Couple of things I learned the hard way: don't take a card if it doesn't fit your deck, get rid of strikes, try to hit as many rest sites as possible to smith, always have a winning condition by the end of Act 2. With champ he is pretty straight forward, hits hard and takes a beating, so you need to dish out harder :-).

Managed to get my first win in the game just now with Silent, was kinda lucky though. First boss relic netted me a runic pyramid and I made a discard and shuffle deck, always got what I need for every fight after that and wrecked. Faced the Awakened One in Act 3 and think I only took around 10-15 damage in total for the whole fight! Might try Ironclad now but the Silent is so good.

I tried.
But even 20 hours in I found myself raging at my stamina bar forcing me to walk at a snail's pace to go at a super distant point for the 20th time, with my pawns saying the same stupid lines at the very same points (I know wolves Hunt in pack, I know we share this road with travelers among other things)
A certain quest with the duke's wives was the turning point, with dramatic events and then, yeah, how about doing some other quests for the duke like nothing happened...

Monster design is wonderful, combat is really fun, but I don't have 50 hours to spend on a game I don't like to finally be able to enjoy it.

This seems great! Busy month for me, but I'm addicted to rogue lites and might have to jump in.

Controls are good? No weird issues with the port?
Plays fine, but I'm unfamiliar with the PC version. Simple controls, can swap weapons quickly using L/R, right analog for movement and left for aiming. ZR to attack. Felt good to play.

You are not wrong. DD has amazing combat and customization, but that's pretty much where it's only strengths are. The rest is fairly mediocre, including the dull and unremarkable open world.

And that's me after a few hours of DD. Game looked very fun when I started it, but then all of the above hit me. Worse: I'm not into the char customization thing and it's one of the best aspects of the game. Definitely not for me, but very easy to recommend to many of my friends.

My Hori RAP V Hayabusa arcade stick arrived today. With all the great Arcade Archives and other retro releases I couldn't live without one anymore. Feels good to have a proper stick for the Switch. My only other stick is the SFIV TE stick for 360/PC. Having two quality sticks now that work on PC also opens for a lot of local play fun.

I hope they keep putting out more great arcade games on Switch as it's currently a defining quality of the system for me.

Silent is the easiest for me to constantly win with. You need to finish Act 3 with all characters to progress further, but I would go with Defect bc he can combo a bit like Silent too. Ironclad plays differently (and I have yet to properly beat the game with him).

Has any official source said anything about the sales of Cadence of Hyrule so far? Playing it again, I think it might be the best Switch game of 2019 right now and it's still incredible to me that this game exists at all.

I'm guessing there would have been a brag tweet if it hit a huge milestone like a million copies sold. Probably sold a few hundred thousand units

bought Tiny Metal Full Metal Rumble, good price and nice launch discount made me bite the bullet, as I always wanted Tiny Metal but thought it was too expensive (and I guess judging by the sequel's price... so did the devs? lol)

anyway will have impressions soon (but not too soon as the wifi at work is sloooooooooow tonight)

Has there been any impressions on Dragon Quest Builders 2 with regards to performance? I believe the demo had some framerate issues so wondering if they've been sorted for full release.

Also should we expect reviews today?

Speaking of Dragon Quest Builders 2, can you preload the game? Just bought it and will download it tonight if it has.

Edit: Got my answer on another thread. LOL.

How much is this? My web browser isn't showing a price on the Nintendo website.
