Will try to not buy anything this month and work on my backlog. Unless virtua racing somehow gets released, that I'm getting day one whenever it hits the eshop.

Amazing work as always on this thread, it's much appreciated. Stacked month! Shakedown Hawaii looks so good...

Shakedown looks really fun. Will wait for some impressions before deciding. I've got FF12 & Cuphead to keep me busy for a while thankfully.

My heart says to bet on a surprise release of Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda this month.

But my brain says:
Delay

Everyone who enjoys comfortable stories with great music should buy VA-11 HALL-A - especially on Switch.

Oh right, Crystal Crisis is out. Kinda hope for a demo, never really played Puzzle Fighter.

Otherwise, gonna get Team Sonic Racing & will keep an eye on Va-11 Hall-A (need to play 2048, got it on PS+), Castlevania Collection, & Giga Wrecker Alt (always like trying out Game Freak titles that allow them to do something that isn't Pokemon).

Was really excited for Shakedown Hawaii and VA-11 Hall-A but completely unexpected medical bills just hit hard and now I won't be buying any games for awhile lol

I loved Saints Row 3 but I'm not sure I want to drop that much on it without hearing how it runs on the Switch

Looking for some impressions on:

Katana Zero

It's basically sidescrolling ninja Hotline Miami with slow-motion, parrying shots, dialogue choices and a surprisingly intriguing story. Consequently the main story isn't very long (4-5h) but there's nice secrets, optional stuff and they announced free DLC as well as a speedrun mode.

Oh and the visuals and music are stellar.

Tomorrow I start a new job and don't know how it will affect to my free time. So, the updates could be slower than usual next weeks.

European Switch sales shouldn't be affected because it doesn't consume much time.

Looking for some impressions on:

The World Next Door
Katana Zero
Reverie: Sweet As Edition

Finished both Katana Zero and The World Next Door recently:
Hmm, I really don't know how I feel about this game. I heard it was short but I swear I only started it two hours ago and it's already over, and I feel a lot of that was spent watching cutscenes.

I did find the story entertaining enough but it was a bit intrusive. Gameplay and style were awesome but it felt like the first three stages or so where tutorials and by the time the game truly brought out the guns I was in the second to last stage... And the fact that it
teases future content updates makes it feel rather incomplete too, ugh

Bosses were pretty bad too, they don't really suit this kind of game, IMO.

I dunno man, I'm kinda disappointed.
Anyway, just finished The World Next Door and that was a pretty unique and charming experience, albeit too short and kind of rushed... I liked the characters gameplay a lot, but the story just sort of ended when it was reaching its climax. Took me about 3 hours, I think, but kept me wishing for more.

It's a strong foundation and it leaves some stuff unresolved, so hopefully it gets a sequel some day.

Going to go ahead and list my five favorite downloadable games from this year here for anyone looking for recommendations.

Double Cross: Really simple platformer that has a small handful of hidden collectables that aren't too hard to find and a light space detective story. There is a central hub that lets you talk to a small handful of characters in between missions but it is largely optional and there is a level select that lets you jump into traditional side scrolling levels in whatever order you want (you are collecting "evidence" at multiple locations, but it isn't hidden, it is the reward at the end of each stage). It doesn't overstay its welcome and has a surprisingly well realized world. It is really nice if you are looking for a light pallet cleanser between big games.

Gunman Clive HD Collection: Beautifully simple art style and gameplay. The campaign in each game takes anywhere from 30-60 minutes per character, and each game has four playable characters. It is like a less frustrating, less complicated Mega Man.

Mechstermination Force: Contra meets Shadow of the Colossus. It is just boss fights, with some having quite a bit of platforming elements in them like Shadow of the Colossus. Some great easter eggs are there for those who have played Gunman Clive, so I recommend running through that first to get a little more out of this.

Katana Zero: What if Hotline Miami but it was a 2D side scroller with the ability to slow down time? it is very story heavy so it definitely requires the right mindset when playing it. I think some were disappointed with just how much story there is between missions, but I loved it.

Overwhelm: Metroidvania rougelite with a consistent map and bosses but randomly generated/placed enemies. A reverse Mega Man where killing a boss causes the enemies to get stronger while you stay the same. You get three lives that replenish after you kill each boss, but you die after one hit. Lose all three lives and your run is over, forcing you to start all over. There are only five bosses so it doesn't take too long to do a complete run, but it is really fun slowly learning the map and figuring out the most optimal path for yourself. A lot of options for simplifying the game if you feel it is too hard which is always appreciated.

Reverie: Sweet As Edition

So I played this earlier this year and I just found it to be just ok at best. I felt the puzzles for the first two temples were very easy and even though the setting was cool I never felt like they did enough with it. At the time I played it there was a broken mini game. ( it's fixed now so you can 100% it ) Temples four and five started to have the types of puzzles I generally like, but that felt a little too late for me. Since the main game only has five temples. It felt like to me they tried to be like Zelda a little too much without their own spin on it.

I tend to be harder on this game than most, but man I just didn't really care for the game.

VA-11's Japan website suggests it has English in that version too, so I might get the physical version then. Rather not have to deal with Limited Run shenanigans.

I need time to recover from April. I'm playing Dragon's Dogma and Mortal Kombat, but Katana Zero, SteamWorld Quest, Cuphead, The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa, and Boxboy are already making eyes at me in my wishlist.

Jesus my wallet is dead...I barely played any of my pickups from April....Cuphead, Dragon's Dogma, Cook Serve Delicious, A Dark Room, Katana Zero....I only beat Katana Zero and haven't played the others more than a few hours.

This month I want Darkwood and Castlevania. Hopefully won't be greedy for much else.

Day one on Shakedown Hawaii.

I'll eventually get American Fugitive.

Darkwood looks incredible but I'm a big scaredy cat when it comes to games like that.

All these games and I decided to buy the BotW DLC and do my second playthrough of that.

I am playing Rayman Legends off to the side though.

I know it was last month but the demo for xmorph defense is crashing when you try to play any of the other levels. There are three open for the demo. I'm on the fence. I liked what I played.

Was excited to get back into switch stuff until Nintendo sent me back a refurb that doesn't output in anything above 480p and has a shit ton of dust beneath the screen. Sigh.

Is this common for Nintendo repairs? For a $130 repair I'd expect someone to you know....look at the unit they send me before they mail it back

Shadows of Adam, finally. Will buy.

Lovecraft's Untold Stories looks really interesting too.

And Shakedown Hawaii. And Crystal Crisis. And... @_@
