Wonderboy! Been waitin for this. Played and loved the new game and wanted to play the remake since then.

I am tempted to buy Battle Princess Madelyn. It looks so gorgeous. But the reviews were not so positive when the game launched as far as I remember. Did the game receive some work in the meantime?

also, that Lovecraft game coming out actually looks alright. and it has decent reviews on Steam:

anyone here played it?

Very interested in this one too. Keen on impressions!

How's the framerate on Splasher? Heard not-so-good things about it

Played it a while ago and enjoyed it very much. Can't recall any framerate issues, but like I said, it's been a while. Nevertheless, I really recommend this one if you're in for a fun and fast platformer.

Also, anyone got some impressions on Songbringer? It's on sale and it looks great, but I read some mixed reviews.

SAINTS CAN'T LOSE!

Why did you choose a voice for your Saints boss other than the Cockney one, and why are you wrong...?

oh dang, thanks for that. I always use the Reddit post with the updated lists by country... but this is a great live notification system.

Agreed. I compulsively check it every day. Kudos to the dude who created it.

Is Wonderboy the Dragon's Trap the really good one that came out recently?

Nah, you're thinking of Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. Dragon's Trap is excellent though and comes highly recommended. It's one of those showcase examples of how amazing certain games can look in portable mode. Super crisp and vibrant. (And hey, it's a lot of fun, too.)

Finally picked up Steamworld Heist on sale. £4.49 is nothing. Looking forward to it.

I.m so torn on whether I should pick up Wizard of Legend. I am a sucker for rogue-likes and have played the heck out of Dead Cells, Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon, Immortal Red Neck, Crypt of the Necrodancer, etc.

Knowing this, have any like minded individuals played this game? Is it worth the current price?

There is a meaningful difference if the person making the decision is not entirely viewing things in a black and white scorched earth kind of way.
There's not really nuance to "you're supporting THQN and if you don't want to do that, you can't buy their subsidiaries games." But whatever you want to tell yourself I guess?

It's like going "I'm vegetarian, but I eat chicken because that's poultry not meat." It's still meat, buddy.

Like I said, that's up to the person asking the question in how they want to make this kind of decision. I'm not telling myself anything.

Jesus this EU sale. This week alone I've bought Celeste, Guacamelee 2, Bastion and The Messenger.

Eh, you are trying to make a very much black and white scenario into some kind of shade of grey. Deep Silver games are THQN games. There's no shade of grey to that, that's just a simple fact.

I bought Prison Architect but I can see myself breaking and getting a couple of other things before the sale is up. There's so many good deals in it.

Oh, Oniken and Odallus are 50% off too. How are they after the patch?

Odallus is solid after patch. Played a chunk last night and it's way better. Controls aren't configurable, but are now mapped to what you would probably expect them to be. The scan line filter can be turned off too. Safe to buy I'd argue.

Haven't tried Oniken yet. But I think it's patch is still incoming.

I couldn't quite get into Wizard of Legend. It looks nice and the music is good, but it lacked the hook for me unlike many of the games you listed. I didn't really give a lot of playtime to it though, but not much of my time compelled me to stay motivated. It might get cool with unlocked powers and synergies, but what I experienced before then was eh.

Again ...what I'm saying is that is up to the person who asked if they want to make a distinction between supporting only directly THQN-published titles or blacklisting any and all companies associated with them. That is it. Hence the clarification that this is a Deep Silver title.

Thoughts on Bastion? I've heard good things and it's on sale.

Didn't love it myself, but the narrator is clever and the customization of your weapons and loadout is both simple yet deep enough to really make new combinations feel very different.

I just disliked the level layouts and enemies mostly. Never found the structure very enjoyable. Like I found it a slog going through them. Not a fan of the aesthetic either(though I love the look of the other titles).

Still it's worth a try for sure. You may adore it like so many others do, and the strengths make it deserving of a try.

I appreciate that. How was the actual game play? Did the combat feel "fun"?

Oniken received the same patch. Both should be safe pick ups now.

Oh and btw, I'm not a "gyro aiming or no-buy" kinda player but goddamn if SAINTS ROW 3 doesn't feel like it would have improved its action gameplay a whole lot by including gyro controls.

The camera movement sensitivity is pretty fuckin' bad in my opinion, and it feels like there's some kind of weird acceleration involved?

Oh, and the gamma is busted (at least on portable mode).

might actually splurge for the first time on a switch sale. I usually pretty much ignore indies on switch because, I either already own them on PC from various bundles, or im waiting for them to show up in various bundles (lol, hey man, it's the monster they created), but lately I'm kind of in the "I wont play this on X system but I would play it on Y" boat, not even just with the switch (a good example is graveyard keeper on game pass, neat that its "free" but for me thats a PC game, or even a take anyware on switch game, not a xbox on big tv game).

So looking at the list, I have my eye on:

-Severed (didnt know this was on Switch, always wanted to play the vita one, also its "safe" from showing up in a random pc bundle since, well, its not on pc)

-Steamworld Dig 2 (loved the first, been waiting for ages for the second to pop on a bundle, but after playing Quest on Switch I kinda loved playing it portable). Dig 1 is also maybe a possibility since its so cheap but I finished that one on PC and I either replay it before 2, or I fear going back to it after 2 would be rough.

-Mana Spark (speaking of cheap, this would usually be a complete "bundle fodder" game, but for 2€, I might just bite for the portability, and if / when it pops on a bundle, well at least it was just 2€ and I dont feel like I "wasted" money)

-Steamworld Heist (this would be a double dip, I own it on PC and played it a bit but fell off, would probably much faster restart it on switch at work tbh rather than go back to my PC one, also its pretty cheap)

-Valkyria Chronicles (this would be another double dip, or technically a triple dip as I owned the OG PS3 one, never finished it, then bought the PC one, never even started it. Again, would probably see myself playing it portable at work than sitting at my desk at home to play it. It's silly I know but what can I say)

Although I already have it on 3DS, I couldn't resist Steamworld Heist at that price. And hey, it includes the Outsider DLC that I never bought...so for a dollar more than the price of that DLC pack I have the complete game on Switch with HD visuals to boot. Awesome!

I wish they'd just put the arcade version of Pang on the eShop/PSN. It is such a charming and awesome game.

Edit: ohmegads... I just found out that Pang, Super Pang and Pang 3 are included in the Capcom Puzzle World collection (PSP/Vita). Jubilations!

Edit2: Got the Capcom Puzzle World collection installed on my Vita. This is the real deal. All the tunes and backgrounds I love, as well as that classic gameplay - I had no idea about this collection. I really wish that Capcom would release this as well as the Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded/Remixed compilations on the Switch. I can already play them of course, but I'd buy them again on Switch in a heartbeat.

Oh noes! :(

SEGA AGES series sales less than half of 3D Classics series in Japan. Future uncertain.
https://www.famitsu.com/news/201905/10175997.html

actual content makes it sound quite different:

In an interview with Famitsu, Sega's Rieko Kodama, Kagasei Shimomura, and Yosuke Okunari, and M2's Naoki Horii talk the first year of the SEGA AGES series with the overseas reception being higher than anticipated but sales are less than half that of 3D Classics on Nintendo 3DS. A ruling on a second run of games has not been confirmed.

actual content makes it sound quite different:

Yes, it sold well in the West, but apparently Japanese sales are pretty bad.

Famitsu, via Google Translate:

Shimomura: To be honest, my lack of power is a situation where sales in Japan have to be more frustrating. It is also a niche market from the beginning, but since the platforms are different, the simple comparison of sales may not make much sense, but it is a severe current of less than half of 3D reprint. In addition, this project sells longer than packaged products, so I would like to have a long relationship with you. In that sense, I am not giving up or being overly pessimistic. It may take a while for the realization of the second term.

Here's the source, in case anyone can translate it:
