Thanks for the heads up!

With the new resolution in portable mode, now the game feels much better. And they also seem to have fixed the frame stuttering problem related with loading new sounds. Probably, because with the game rendered at a lower resolution, now they have more memory/processing power left.

All of that said, this update adds new problems not present in the previous version.

- They have fixed the problem with the collision boxes when you shoot with the shotgun. But they have added new collision problems. If you start a new run, in the prologue of the first chapter, there are some sections in which you need to jump over obstacles. Now, if you aren't in the exact center pixel, you can't avoid the obstacles. I can see a lot of new players stuck in this initial part, without being able to enter the mansion.

- Instead of creating two separated resolutions for the portable mode and the docked mode (like other games are doing, creating different UI sizes), they have discarded the old high resolution mode in docked mode. So in the previous version, the game looked much better in docked mode.

With the previous version, there was version parity with the other console releases if you were playing in docked mode. Now, in docked mode, the game looks much worse than in the rest of versions that are using higher resolutions / not zoomed sprites.

EDIT:

The story with the resolution of 'Lovecraft's Untold Stories' has a new dramatic turnaround.

I have found an unintentional method, not planned by the developers, for choosing between the low and the high resolution in portable/docked mode.

If you start the game in docked mode, the game will be rendered at high resolution. If you take the console of the dock, the game will continue rendered at a high resolution, without switching to the intended portable resolution.

In the same way, if you start in portable mode and then switch to the dock, the game will retain the low resolution/zoomed mode.
Has your opinion in the game-play chanced now that you played some more?

On another note, do we still expect crate box, Slayer the Spire and Cadence to come out this month? Very much looking forward tot those.

I've been playing mana spark and it's good. I took a chance with it on sale. Music is nice. Gameplay is simple but rewarding.

reading and seeing lots of disagreements and conflicting opinions on The Swords of Ditto. It looks like a pretty fun game, but does it really get that dull that quickly? it doesn't look any grindier than a lot of other RPGs I've played.

I was wondering that too, it sounds like maybe its been updated a lot since the original release?

The Switch version of Sword of Ditto comes with a new expansion integrated from the get go, whereas on Steam and PS4 had the base game only for a long while. So yeah, that's probably one reason opinions differ so much.

I haven't played much more. I have been busy this week completing 'Hob: The Definitive Edition', obtaining 100% of the collectibles. While the last part of the game is not as captivating as the first half of the game, I had a lot of fun. And it's an incredible showcase of how the complex 3D architecture of the latest Super Mario 3D titles can be combined with an open world layout looking at Zelda, that is constructed like a giant and unified 3D level. The use of the architecture in its level design is a giant achievement.

In the case of 'Lovecraft's Untold Stories', I still think that it's an okay game. Full of good intentions, but too ambitious for a first commercial release by a small team, so there are flaws, mainly in its level design and pace. But it's also an okay game doing the things with tons of personality, and a lot of love and care by the developers.

Anyone know how the load times are for Child of Light?

They were quite poor on Wii U and I'd hate if they were just as bad on the Switch.

Slay the Spire isnt very likely due to some last minute bugs cropping up that prevents it from releasing the same day as the Ps4 version

You are really in for a treat with Yoshi. Going for 100% and nearly done, it's been an awesome, endlessly creative and adorable experience. Even with its disappointing OST, I think it's just as good as Woolly World. It adds some really fresh ideas to the series.

Hm I wonder when yugioh legacy of the duelist link evolution will drop. Must still be a month or two out since it's getting a physical release. Well long as it isn't in July I'll be fine.

At least we'll know in a week or two

Lowest it's ever been. Always dropped to $20 every time it's been on sale until now, and I can't see it ever dropping lower than 50%. Perfect chance to grab it!

Damn, hopefully mexican store also got the cut.

Btw, do you guys know where can I check eshop prices for the mexican store? My online connection doesn't work properly and I have to use my Phone to use the eshop but it is VERY slow.

Remind me. Didn't the game get a price hike after certain DLC released? Was that the Switch version or the prior versions before the Switch version came out? I forget...

New trailer for Songbird Symphony, releasing July 25th for Switch/PS4/PC.

Via NintendoLife.com. I've been really interested in this one for a while, despite my woeful lack of rhythm.

Blending your usual platform game traits with rhythm action elements, this one hopes to get players groovin' as they play. You'll need to feel the beat as you run and jump around the world, pressing the buttons at the right time to progress.

On the quest to learn more about his true legacy, Birb follows every lead he can find! Doing so, he does not always end up with benevolent characters like the wise owl, but also crosses the paths of mischievous troublemakers! No matter the encounter, earn their respect in challenging rhythm battles and help little Birb to find more about himself!

In Songbird Symphony, you are able to influence the background music with your puzzle-solving skills! The more creatures you help out on your way, the more musical elements are added to the background until you unlock the perfect symphony. Giving a hand to a friendly bee will, for example, make the spiders go up and down their web strings in joy, creating a lovely melody!

How's the difficulty? I know a lot of places criticised it for being too easy, but Woolly World got the same criticism and that game actually got pretty difficult towards the end, particularly when going for 100%

Vanilla Shovel Knight initially released at $15 and the Switch version was there day one of the system launch for $25 with all expansions including the debut of Treasure Trove.

By the way, here's a PSA for anyone still sitting on the fence, via the Yacht Club Games blog:

We're hard at work putting the final touches on King of Cards and Shovel Knight Showdown. After more than 5 years of development, the final pieces of the Shovel Knight saga will be complete! To celebrate this momentous occasion, we want to give everyone one last chance to get Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove at the lowest price ever! Remember, after the final games are included, the price increases to $39.99!

I think it's safe to say it's never dropping to the current sale price for a looooong time after this. lol

So if anyone doesn't have it yet, buy Shovel Knight RIGHT NOW on your system of choice while it's $12.49 BEFORE it gets a permanent price increase to $39.99.

that coupon thing is in EU aswell, but its a pass for me because I'm lucky enough where a local chain (like our Walmart lets say) does B2G1 deals literally every month, so I can get three 60€ games for 120€ basically, making them 40€ each which is better than the voucher. In fact I'll jump on that again in july (assuming they do it around then) for MUA3/DQB2/FE3H.

Shovel Knight is tempting tho, I own it on PC but never played much, and it feels like something I would probably play faster on the switch, at work for example. Also I bet it looks great on the small screen. Hmm.

Don't all versions of Shovel Knight automatically get updated to include the latest expansions? I bought it at launch on Vita and I'm pretty sure it includes the Specter of Torment stuff now.

The game is amazingly deep for a 2D strategy game and the gameplay is quite fun because of how dynamic it is. There's actual skill involved in pulling off some shots, it's not just pure strategy. I'd get it on Switch if I didn't own it already on PS4.

EDIT: If you want another platformer I reccomend Splasher, it's a great little gem that's currently the same price as SWH iirc.

Splasher looks awesome too but I'll go with SWH for now. Your "amazingly deep" just sold me on it. I've loved the first SWdig, and also love Worms, so if this is anything like a mash-up of those, it's too good to pass up.
Hat blasting action sounds great too.

I was wondering that too, it sounds like maybe its been updated a lot since the original release?

Looks like opinion of it did improve after the update, but the core complaints remain the same: the combat is a little dull and the RNG isn't handled as well as it could be (strange environmental obstacles and poor mapping being the most egregious problems - easy to fall into pits, easy to get stuck, easy to mistake foreground information as background information, etc.).

The graphics are gorgeous though and there is a small part of me that thinks I'd be willing to endure those problems for the chill graphical vibe. I might dive in when there's a sale.

As you enter the first stages of grief, you do what everyone wishes they could do but can't: bring back the dead with the power of alchemy.

Attention: The dark and twisted themes of My Lovely Daughter are a commentary on child labor, abusive parenting, and ignorant societies. This game is intended to make people sad and uneasy but there is a deeper meaning behind the horror. My Lovely Daughter is inspired by the hardships experienced by members of our team growing up. The game is designed to upset and disturb you.

EDIT: Also, does anyone plan on importing SUPER ROBOT WARS T?

I'd love to and really wanted to get the digital version thru that weird HK eShop but dunno how.
I'd love to have a physical copy but don't want to fork €80 (import taxes) and then hardly play the game... these super long RPGs I need in digital form otherwise I'm going to play them much, much less

Finished Yoku's Island Express. A genuinely fun and charming little game that does not outstay its welcome. Such a cool unique game. Just wondering if there is any actual point to 100% the game? Looks like you get an extra ending for finding all those things, but not sure if I can really be bothered, especially with Cuphead and Castlevania calling out to me!

Vanilla Shovel Knight initially released at $15 and the Switch version was there day one of the system launch for $25 with all expansions including the debut of Treasure Trove.

By the way, here's a PSA for anyone still sitting on the fence, via the Yacht Club Games blog:

I think it's safe to say it's never dropping to the current sale price for a looooong time after this. lol

So if anyone doesn't have it yet, buy Shovel Knight RIGHT NOW on your system of choice while it's $12.49 BEFORE it gets a permanent price increase to $39.99.

I'm jobless and broke and still bought this shit. What a deal.
