As if Nintendo did this out of some moral stance. They made the changes so the game would be Rated T, and thus potentially boost sales. If they cared so much about sexualizing minors they wouldn't have plastered Joker over Smash Ultimate or even allowed the underage characters to be sexualized in the game's original release in the first place.
When is the word censorship ever used without an agenda?

You know, normally when I get into jerk detective mode, I end up going either "oh I guess I assumed too much" or "oh this was exactly what I expected". Looking at your points in this thread, I feel like the first half are pretty reasonable and then it goes into weird shit where I don't know what you're getting at.

I'd like to assume the best so I want to advise you that certain threads are sensitive, and so you should try to be mindful of how your individual posts might be viewed and people will be wondering what your overall goal is. It isn't always a good idea to post your off-the-cuff thoughts.

Also, I can't criticize too much because I've been messed up enough to have a 4chan phase, but I'll caution that sometimes can be bad for you or reflect on problems you have.

I mean I'd prefer if plot specific content wasn't changed if the name had real plot significance I wouldn't want that changed either its not exactly specific to that other situation.
So questionable content that already meams something else in another market can't be changed.

Sounds arbitrary.

Fans of the game believing the game is not worth buying without vagina bones is all I need to know about this game. It failing again will maybe prevent creepy garbage like this from being made.

I can't even be mad at this as a fan of the game. I don't know why it is such a lightning rod for this fuckery.

I'm very confused.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 could get away with a lot of Anime titties and skin being shown off, even from some fairly young looking blades. So why does TMS have to be "altered", is it just Atlus being too cautious? Is it because the characters in TMS are human beings with actual ages (17 in japan) so they had to alter them? Why not just alter the ages and keep the character design?

This stuff doesn't effect me that much but I get disappointed every time I hear about these alterations. Like I doubt the amount of skin is gonna have any bearings on sales. At least they're doing refunds tho, but I'm not sure if the game is good and I dont already own a version of it that some censored designs are really going to effect my pre-purchase that much.

Xenoblade 2 just has scantily clad women.

TMS makes it a story point. Atlus and Nintendo altered that story point (arguably for the better) when they localized it because the story originally relied on a thing specific to Japanese idol culture.

I'm sorry guys, I realized I made a big mistake. I never wanted you guys to think I considered child porn OK, it's NOT OK. I am disgusted by it. I have never watched it before. I guess I should take a break. I'm sorry.

Reflect on what you did here and how it read to others. Seriously. Know that at anytime you can leave a thread, set it on ignore so you can't put it out of mind.

It was a Nintendo decision, not atlus.

Something about the fantasy setting and the fact many of the scantily clad people in the game aren't technically human in XC2 probably has less issues getting a teen rating than specifically human teenagers. Especially ones representing an exploitive industry like the idol one. These are not changes anyone should feel more than a passing, huh, at.

We're dealing with a game about idols. Otaku are fucking crazy about this shit.
Love Live! and Idolm@ster are all about cute girls of young adult age and younger being sexualized both subtly and explicitly. They'll pay top dollar for it.

It's Nintendo & Atlus' fault for doing such an idiotic theme, then going that far in the first place before censoring it.

Why can't they offer an uncensored download on the eshop? So both factions would be happy, no?

I couldn't care one way or the other. I picked it up on Wii U and never got to it, and now getting the Wii U out is a pain. I'll grab this and then not play it all over again on Switch.

I'm sure fans will make a restoration patch like they did for the western Wii U version. Switch hacking and emulation are already pretty advanced.

An officially supported option for playing the unaltered version without needing to get the original Wii U version would've obviously been preferable though.

I don't think there can be a restoration patch if there isn't an unsullied version to pull assets from.

I'm not part of this "anti-censorship" brigade but I'm always wary about having the western version of a game being altered.
Aside from that dumb wedding dress change that looks like they just gave her white body paint, these changes just seem like they're for the better. So what's the problem?

At least its not the mess that FE Fates was where they just completely cut out support conversations and replaced them with ellipses.

The problem is internet warriors who don't stop to think about what they are defending. They have the NRA attitude of 'Not one inch' when it comes to what they consider censorship but is actually localization. They lack the perspective that what they are fighting for is to see goddamn underage kids in bikinis

When I saw this thread made it to 20 pages, I knew it was going to be a shit show but I definitely wasn't expecting to find people talking about how they watch literal snuff films to "improve their empathy," like what the fuck.

Anyway, it's really dumb that they'd offer refunds for this. Isn't the basically an "international version" like the kind that used to release in Japan before DLC was a thing? Like, sorry you can't get your high school tiddies Japan, now you know what kind of S&Ps exist outside of your country?

It uses the same assets as the Wii U version, no?

I'm not saying it's as simple as copy/pasting them, but seeing the stuff that has been done by the modding scene for BotW, I don't see why it should be impossible.

Yeah it will definitely be possible to revert the changes, with the possible exception of the Hot Springs DLC if there are no references to it in the game code at all anymore.

There is less than zero reason to support an entire second version of the game that exists entirely so that people can opt into making certain characters underage and then making those underage characters extra sexualized. The mere act of offering that edition for download would be incredibly gross.

I was under the impression there were updated textures and models at play? At the very least there's outfits made new for this version.

If it was "censored" before why in the world would it not be the next time?
Unless they advertised "includes underaged cleavage" on the box, I don't see how that applies since it's not supposed to be one of the selling points of the game.
time line:
- screenshot from JP wii U version was used to advertise on the main website
- preorder opened
- only few days ago the site updated to use the current one with the description saying the game will be based on US version

it's not that hard to understand

...so you saw different box art and thought that meant there would be less "censorship"... I keep putting "censorship" in quotations because I don't find making the game less creepy really censorship and more-so just making the game less creepy.

User banned (1 month): trolling about the sexualized depiction of minors
There are already enough under age people wearing nothing in real life.

Once I went to the beach. I was shocked and never went outside again.

If only I could be a creep.

20 pages in less than a day, and of course it's all about people defending some anime tiddy of underage girls.

And we wonder why people think that Era harbors a bunch of pedos inside.

Pretty good of Nintendo to offer refunds and be upfront about it. On the other hand it's pretty clear why Nintendo censored their localization in the first place given the contents

The trashfire that is this thread is not surprising either.

Yup. If only you could actually hit on those underage girls instead of just sharing how you saw them in bikinis.
Don't worry, you already are a creep for sharing this story.

I'm desperately trying to fight the urge to avatar quote you.
So are you agreeing people should not be allowed to cancel their preorder?

Regardless of adding/changing content pre-release, hell even if there is no change, customers should always have option to cancel their order, people can do it with physical copy, why can't they do the same with digital release?

I dont know why TMS threads turn out like this. What a clown show.
It's a colorful, lighthearted and great game

I'll see you in the OT fellow TMS fans

It's because people are jumping the gun from both sides

Would be nice if we get a threadmark explaining shits and them reading before commenting

Lol.

Nice way of not understanding anything I said.
I also don't care about the changes.

I'm actually not attacking people who like the change. I'm observing how it's impossible to be either a creep or be happy about the change.
I'm neither sad nor happy.

What's the point of modifying age if costumes are already and vice and versa ?
I saw hundreds of games with far worse stuff and no one complaining.

I think the main problem this game is facing is certainly not what the focus seems to be here.
It's just the idol theme.

I personaly focused on the business aspect while playing, didn't really "like" costumes or stuff like that. I appreciated to see a different type of environment with a main character learning about how to work in it. And it was just a fun/light mood game. If anything the costumes can be used as a way to shock against a specific practice in reality.

But, if we can see people in bikini at the beach why is it weird in a game. How many games have beach scenes and nobody says anything.

Again, I don't care, I just don't see why this one gets that more than others.

Nice random personal attack though.
I guess either you say 100% the same as other people, or you ask questions and you're crap that must die lol.
