Nintendo sends a cease and desist to insider that has leaked pretty much every E3 2019 announcement

You are correct, I did not read the thread in between my two replies there.

On the topic of morale and disappointment, that’s fair, I was wrong that it affects almost no one. Still it also highlights the core problem of reveals. In a world of crunch schedules and minimized development turn around, is it even ethical to ask those same teams to create polished reveal assets in time events like these? If there was never an expectation to do reveals, would there be any disappointment about leaks?

On the topic of money, yes marketing exists to increase profits, but hearing about the current climate of publisher/developer relationships, are the differences enough to truly affect individual developers? If publishers make less money and shareholders don’t extract quite as much value, the difference is of no consequence, but if the difference is between work in the future or no work for the developer, then I’ll have to side with you.
The point isn't that you could read a thread in between two replies, it's that you should read the thread before posting the second reply at all ;)

And those are legitimately good questions you should bring up to developers, maybe shoot a post in the thread.

People love to bend over backwards for corporations.
Cooperations are made out of people too. A great example of this is last year's Smash Ultimate's tag, "Everyone's Here!". Sakurai talked about how he and his team went out of their way to make sure that everyone was back didn't leaked since it completely ruined the surprise and one of the main draw of the game, and how thankful he was that it didn't leaked. So from a human preparative, leaks hurt and suck. It's like going out of your way to buy this great Christmas present, only to learned that the child saw the gift ahead of time.

Thats not proof, thats people throwing shit at the wall hoping it will stick.
Well, this isn't watergate lol. If she's just a random person who happens to know things, it's really not worth the trouble of even flirting with the idea of legal consequences. God bless her, she's not exactly engaged in a noble venture here

In a now-deleted Tweet, she invited people to DM her for leaks. They’re just joking about having Nintendo employees DM her and seeing if she even notices.

Anyway, just a few hours ago she was expressing hope at contacting her source tomorrow for Nintendo leaks. But the lawyer’s email mentions they talked yesterday?
Ah, ok.

If there were no leaks then video game bloggers would have little to write about, what about their livelihoods or are devs holier than thou?
That's not true at all though? They can write about stuff that is revealed. I'm sure it's a very small minority of blogposts that are about unrevealed things lmao.
Why should one person have a job that hurts another's?
The problem isn't even journalists, it's people breaking NDA to leak from within or leakers breaking laws to get Info

*sob* Wont somebody please think of the poor corporations? What bollocks, people are free to experience news how they chose not how marketing departments choose.
No, fuck that noise. If it's news I'm getting anyway and they're not time-critical, I'd rather there be a show and spectacle attached to it. I'd rather be excited and surprised.

Also, as someone who enjoys seeing other people's reactions to exciting news, nothing sucks more than those reactions being "yeah we knew that" and "hey this was in that leak".

The curiosity got the best of me after seeing 10 pages of arguments as to what exactly these leaks were about, and yeah,
very lackluster announcements if true.

Something about this kinda seems iffy to me though, and that's about all the input I can give on this situation... just an overall feeling of iffiness.

What were they?

Yep.

I randomly watched a couple of reactions to the Pokémon Direct. Unfortunately main elements of the Direct leaked the day before. Some of the reactions, rather than being filled with shock and wonder were "Oh just like in the leak".

Whenever I posted about a Mythical Pokémon, it was all "We know this already" "I have one" etc.

EDIT: 99% chance I saw the incorrect leaks not related to the person mentioned in OP, my bad.

I'm not really joking, to be honest, and suggesting that if she does notice it'd be more beneficial for Nintendo. She clearly hasn't considered Nintendo employees DMing her if she put that tweet out; getting a DM from an obvious Nintendo employee might get her to realize and stop her from DMing leaks to anyone.
Sorry, didn't realize I hadn't explained that properly.

It feels like her or the source are working inside E3 itself.

No, people seem to have a hard on for devs but when it comes to people reporting they usually get thrown under a bus.
Not to downplay anyone's career, but to me as a consumer I care more about the developers, since they are the ones actually making the product, over reporters, who don't contribute to the making of said stuff.

I used to love leaks until the Ryu for Smash leak happened and that kinda killed my hype because all the build-up to the reveal was me going "Just reveal him already!"

So now I go out of my way to avoid leaks, it is more exciting that way, I don't need to know.

There's ways you can be sneaky with leaks. Dumping tons of shit under NDA is gonna get you in trouble. Like it or not, that's the reality of things. A lot of stuff was known from the MS conference, neither of which (apart from Bleeding Edge) came from direct leaks - insiders, people in the know have placed hints here and there which made us assume. It's largely different tbh.

I really question how Sabi got all of these leaks, because Sabi's accuracy is way too high across multiple companies. Usually when we see leaks, it's about one company and a single person who mainly follows that particular company.

Everything leaks at some point, the Internet just makes it quicker. We had leaks back when we read magazines and I don't remember the faux outrage like we have now.
Well for one thing it would take at least a month for this response. I’m sure you can extrapolate the cadence from there.

I mean...it ain't like Video Game Bloggers have much of a leg to stand on with or without leaks. It's a dying business and most have already adapted to fit the new market. Leaks or its lack ain't going to be the final nail in the coffin.

Might just work at E3 in some capacity. There would be people who would see booth floor plans and what not. It is bizarre though, I agree.

Wouldn't a retailer contact with access to full inventory databases or having access themselves be the only way? That's the only place I think all this information would be grouped together ahead of time.

This is my reason for being against leaks, especially in this case where we only need to wait roughly 24 hours, is that I don't want to read the games I want to see them. Now even if I don't go on social media anymore I still use YouTube and you know their algorithm will put some idiot making a video with a title and thumbnail about said leak in my reccommendations feed. I shouldn't have to sacrifice internet access for two days because some asshole wants internet cred for 5 minutes while people lose jobs and money to boot. Not even talking about the big corporations. Besides what's so exciting about a text dump? I want to see the trailers how they were meant to be seen. Go ahead and call me a corporations defender or spoiler phobe but I enjoy the directs and would rather see it instead of a boring text dump.

I... Actually didn’t see the post with the link to the thread before I posted the first reply.
