Nintendo sends a cease and desist to insider that has leaked pretty much every E3 2019 announcement

Just because it took longer doesn't mean it's any different.
But that’s not how information works. If a game leaked a month before a show... aah you know what, never mind. You’re good. You got this. Good afternoon. I highly recommend Nakamoto Ramen near shinjuku station for dinner or Katsukura at the top of Takashimaya. Extra cabbage and the double pork chop.

Wouldn't a retailer contact with access to full inventory databases or having access themselves be the only way? That's the only place I think all this information would be centralized.
She mentioned Keanu Reeves before he was on stage, I truly think she or her source are inside E3.

Maybe companies should question themselves as to why there are leaks in the first place.

Well at least that suggests they’ve got stuff to hide, which given everything we already know is coming, has me excited.

There's a difference between plugging a leak and threatening someone who is essentially just reporting what they've been given. Did Sabi go overboard? Sure. Does that mean Nintendo should once again be throwing litigation threats around? No.
Do you think the leaker will stop if Nintendo just said "pretty please"?

If there were no leaks then video game bloggers would have little to write about, what about their livelihoods or are devs holier than thou?
1. This statement isn't even true, they have plenty to write about
2. If it were true, I don't really sympathize with choosing a career that relies on encouraging illegal activity
3. You're in a thread about a leaker that made leaks via tweets and DMs. Sabi loses no revenue from the recent turn of events.

As someone who joined recently but lurked for a while it's actually a bit surreal to see people here go from idolizing leakers, imploring for hints of a new direct and pumping 100 page threads whenever king zell farted, then name calling every insider that suggested Metroid Prime Trilogy was a thing at TGAs, to now suddenly hating leaks because they ruin surprises. I didn't see anyone rage when zell and Emily disclosed stuff. Weird.

You can divulge in the information but still be upset at the fact that people leak things and people working on those things get hurt

I think some of it is people realising the cost leaks actually have on the industry and people within it.

Jobs are lost. People get made redundant. Work for a company dries up if they're associated with a leak from a bigger company.

Check the other thread.

I saw your original quote "So basicially fuck all those people let them lose their jobs" which was replied to me and I'm going to respond to that since you have misunderstood what I have said. I did not say "fuck all those people let them lose their jobs". I said "these people are already losing their jobs, leaks or no." Have you not noticed how most gaming websites have purposefully expanded beyond video gaming? And it's not just websites, multiple YouTubers have moved on from simple Video Game Blogging to escape the dead weight that it is. Podcasts, Patreons, Kickstarters, Influence numbers, direct partnerships, the sun has set years ago. Leaks aren't going to change that at all.

This "leaks business" is really strange.
Non disclosure agreements are contractually binding and there's nothing really heroic or whatever to breaking them...
I have often those in the jobs I do, it's childish to just ignore it and try to grab some internet fame. In the end you're just someone that cannot be trusted...

Zell and Emily did long term leaks that weren't completely infallible. We didn't know when they'd show up, and plans could change before we saw anything. There's a large difference between hearing something exists and randomly seeing it months later, and being told what's going to happen at an event hours before it happens. (In fact, the former isn't all that dissimilar from the cinema model.)

Zell and Emily would also sometimes tease the existence of a direct and leave it at that. They really weren't comparable to what we get now.

The TGA response was always embarrassing, though.

No don't be obtuse. I'm saying they should be plugging the source not attacking the messenger. If the info is out it's out, attacking journalists after the fact just looks terrible. Threatening lawsuits and sending C&Ds should be the last resort, not the go to approach for dealing with anything you don't like. Note how they are the only ones doing this, just like how they are the only ones who still regularly attack emulation sites, and fan projects, with legal threats.

How did they get your address from a post in 4chan? Lol

Also, as others have said, as long as you are not under NDA, it's legit reporting thus unenforceable.
Enforcement or really the legality of a particular C&D isn’t really the point. As someone who has received two in my lifetim, they mainly serve as a way for large corporations who have lawyers on payroll to intimidate or deter you from doing something knowing there is little chance you will challenge it due to the resources require.

Sabi and their source were bound to get caught.

Nintendo likely had a list of everyone who was given info ahead of time and was able to narrow it down through that.

I don't think any leaker/reporter should be shit on or harassed for "ruining" e3 announcements (your hobby isn't any lesser for having known some fucking announcement ), but they know damn well of the consequences and risks of divulging that information. If they get caught, then that's on them.

Have Nintendo sent C&Ds for leaks before? This kind of does feel like the last resort for them as well considering the leaker was advertising they were going to spill the beans imminently...

I wonder if this will make other leakers more hesitant? Or maybe this leakers means of attaining information was just straight up risky

I wish somebody could use that footage from John Wick 3 Parabellum to depict Nintendo Ninjas.

The reason why Skull and Bones was delayed was because of the leaks. Get it?!?!?!?!

The joke is Ubisoft.
