Seems like the F-Zero GX LTD might be higher than expected, at least according to this interview with Toshihiro Nagoshi:

https://gaminggamma.com/2018/08/13/...ies-world-wide/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

I've compiled the data from the OP and hope this will be useful information moving forward.

Updated as of December 2018.

I've updated OP with data as March 2019.

The fiscal year ended March 2019 was very profitable for Nintendo, it earned the 4th best operating profits of its entire history.
NES Classic and SNES Classic shipped 120K between January and March 2019.
Nintendo is still shipping small quantities of Wii evergreen games in 2019.

Nintendo's Inventories (in million yen):

March 2017: 39,129
June 2017: 63,240
September 2017: 135,581
December 2017: 94,691
March 2018: 141,795
June 2018: 212,843
September 2018: 326,066
December 2018: 181,839
March 2019: 135,470

MKWii is what sold most on Wii in the last semester (60K if memory serves me right).

I bet a lot of the Mario Kart Wii sales are people who sold/misplaced their old copy and want to play again.

This was concerning New Super Mario Bros on original DS, but I overheard a family repurchasing the game because the boy had thrown their original copy out their car window.

They should make him play Superman 64. That disrespect.

MK:Wii is frustrating to play for me these days after 8. MK8 killed that game for me, its so much better.

Super Mario Party really has a good shot at becoming the best selling in the series

Edit: switch has an insanely good software/hardware ratio for a console this early in its life. Looking at that chart shows that it's clearly selling games like a home console rather than a portable; it's tie in ratio already exceeds that of most previous portable consoles.

It's impressive to see Switch outselling 3DS launch aligned, but the software sales difference is INSANE.

How are the software sales calculated? Do they include digital sales and free to play titles like Fortnite, etc.? I am having a hard time accepting the 187.52M figure for the Switch...

They include physical-only software (like LABO) and physical+digital software (titles released both in stores and on the eShop). Meaning, digital-only software isn't counted.

Software sales don't include the download-only titles.
So any title which can be found in the 'Download-Only' section of the eShop sales charts is not counted here.

That's why Nintendo released the revenue per console figure because if they included free to play titles and digital only titles the software figure would be more than doubled.

I can also see it simply being that in some countries they can't afford the newest consoles or are getting them after.

My first home console was a NES and my second was a Wii, so I was playing with 15 year old games when I was a kid and couldn't care. By comparison, MKWii becomes 11 years old tomorrow in the US.

Nintendo will most probably sell its 2 billionth game on the Switch.
Nintendo has probably already sold more than 2 billion "first-party" games, it's just unaccounted for (publicly) because the approximation we have take in consideration only the million sellers (it's a good approximation overall but it represent a minimum).

That 1.42m for Super Metroid will always be the most un-deservingly low # of all time. The goat deserves so much better.

Well, then their achievement is even more impressive so. Thanks for the correction.

That figure consider only the games that have a retail version.
If such games have also a digital version then their digital sales are also included.

EDIT:
Whoops it was already answered.

is this meant to say 2019?

Yes, corrected now.

when you update it with Three Houses numbers, please fix "Echoes of valencia" (it's Shadows of Valentia)

Lol, got this one quite wrong. Will be in the next update in July, although we probably will only get official numbers by October. Quite curious to see how Three Houses will perform overall, first console FE since Radiant Dawn (12 years ago) and the franchise has never been as popular. I personally think it will fall somewhere between 3 and 4 million,.

Nothing has really changed besides the addition of Super Mario Maker 2. October should be more interesting with the releases of the Switch Lite, FE3H, Awakening and some updated numbers for MK8, Ultimate and SMM2.

Definitely. It's looking likely that the only entries in major franchises that definitely wont set a franchise record are 2d Mario, Kirby, donkey Kong, Yoshi, and pokemon. Though even let's go is on track to set a record for a remake.

In terms of becoming the best seller of their franchise:

Mario tennis: done
Xenoblade: done
Smash: done
3d Mario: done
Zelda: done
Splatoon: done
SMM: definite
SMP: definite
FE: very likely
AC: likely
LM: likely
MK: possible
Metroid: possible

I mostly agree, but I am cautious to put those games on the level of the others, which have all already come out with sales figures. For LM and AC I expect them to set records, but there's always a small chance they wont.

Metroid on the other hand is still kind of a wildcard. We know literally nothing about the game nor the level of push it will get from Nintendo. However, should it be up to prime standards, and receive a decent marketing push, it's chances are extremely high.

Glad I'm not the only one seeing this; sales haven't even begun to taper off yet with an increase of sales this quarter YoY. Generally, it seems to go up/down with Switch sales, which makes sense. Somewhat more surprising to me is BotW putting up the same numbers this Q1 as last Q1; I know it's become synonymous with the Switch, but it's still crazy to see a Zelda game do this.

I also didn't realize that SMP may as well be over performing to the same extent that BotW is; SMP hasn't passed its series record, let alone double it, but Zelda didn't benefit all that much from the massive Wii/DS install base like MP did. Comparing SMP to MP 1-7 is mind boggling; the Switch hardware numbers at this point in time are only 12% higher than the N64, yet SMP is over double what Mario Party was doing then. I wonder if sequels will be able to do comparable numbers like they used to.
