Has anyone considered just calling off the whole thing?

People were convinced by lies that it would be easy and profitable.

Also most regulatory functions are done by EASA, and Air traffic control by Eurocontrol etc.. etc..
The airlines were warning about this a few months ago because their planning departments were fast approaching the day they needed to plan flights post-Brexit.

Back then I predicted they the government would likely rush something through if it became clear that flights would actually stop, forcing the airlines to pick up the pieces at the last minute. My prediction had not changed.

Very recently the ECJ ruled that the UK could call brexit off just by officially revoking Article 50. This would be easily the safest thing to do from the point of view of policy. However this would likely have very severe political consequences. Even with the prospect of holding another referendum, the result could be civil unrest of a kind not seen in the UK since the Napoleonic era.

I'm sure people will look at the facts and rationally assess the pros/cons, inevitably realize that hard-brexit is against their wallets and be grateful to the people responsible for a 2nd referendum.

It's advice if you're going in a package holiday.
TBH, I'd like to see a Venn diagram of leave voters and Package holiday purchasers, i bet that overlap section would be gigantic.

I've got a few 'colleagues' on my Facebook friends list who still support leaving the EU and yet have photo albums of all their European holidays. It blows my mind,

With how repugnant, uncaring and out of touch with reality our British ruling class is, I can see why France had a revolution...

Uh... I'm pretty sure they did so because of their own corrupt and decadent ruling elites.

Yeah, my poor attempt due to rage was essentially me trying to say that I can understand the desire to burn down the "Ruling Class" who are doing nothing at all but driving the country towards, poverty, starvation, medical shortages and a reduction of rights people have been born with.

As in the British ruling class currently being The Tories.

The nightmare scenario of a plane crashing post no-deal, only to discover that neither the pilot or the plane had legally valid licenses/safety certificates, is one that any airline company would like to avoid at all costs.

I'm all for Brexit disaster porn, but this is simply never going to happen.

Hmm probably shouldn't have just booked a holiday to Italy at the end of May.

Hopefully the end of May comes sooner than usual

Isn't she safe from a leadership challenge for a year now? She's truly the living dead. Prime minister in name only.

A leadership challange from within her own party, but not a vote of no confidence in the government itself from the opposition. (Which I have no doubt she'd survive too, sadly)

Her winning the leadership challenge actually works really well for the Conservative party going forward. It will play into the narrative that they tried to stop her and her 'bad deal' when shit hits the fan and the media will naturally back this narrative up, so we end up in a situation where it's Theresa May and her Tory cronies and the Conservative party who were fighting for the future of the UK.

People need to an easy to follow story and May is so hated already that people won't question anything the likes of Johnson, Mogg, etc have been doing in the background that made it impossible to reach a deal that didn't destroy the UK economy for decades.
