this is the second time in a year i can think of where gaming sites report something without actually researching anything just because one site reported it.
Research? Sources? They did their research. They read an article. They found their source. The article they read. Seems to be the requirements.

So after four years of playing the game, what else is left for her to do in it? Is she playing with mods?

Clickbait YTubers like Quartering are mad at a clickbait article headline. Pot calling the kettle black.

The best way is always go to the most direct source, as indirect sources like those sites tend to filter stuffs out and thus missing out some context here and there, whether its deliberately or not
They embedded her VLOG, the source of all of it in the article? You can't get more direct.
Read the article, not just the headline, which got updated with her tweet as criticism

The whole situation is pretty embarrassing for both games journalism and the gaming community.

Her issue of dealing with a few troll comments being escalated to an "onslaught of patronizing comments" which undoubtedly was an angle only taken because of her age and the sort of attention it would draw.
Then GG types losing their minds over perceived fake news and corrupt journalists when it was really more of a tabloid style exaggeration than an invented story, once again just showing they'll take any excuse to attack any form of media.

A pity for Shirley to have to deal with such noise when she just wants to play games with her community. It's nice that her main issue with the reporting seems to be the way her followers were mischaracterised as she seems to really think highly of them and enjoy their company.

This reminds me of one trend in gaming articles which I'm not a fan of. Their idea of research is seeing what other sites are writing about, and then they write an article about the same thing. I've noticed this the few times sites have written articles about one of my videos or mods. Usually that results in a string of sites with very similar articles. And if the first article gets something wrong, then the other sites usually get the same thing wrong as they're using that one article as the entirety of their research.

i saw the video and she was indeed annoyed by the comments, in particular she didn't like that people were telling her the 'right' way to play(in a roleplaying context) which sounds pretty damn patronizing to me. they literally stressed her out to the point of feeling mentally ill, she said this herself.

and this is a good thing to report on regardless. maybe it'll give some of the millions of youtube commentors' condescending asses some perspective on how shitty they are.

The update with her tweet literally prove their article could have better context. Otherwise, why the update?

Whenever i see lists of "archive.md" and whatever links to gaming sites, i have a strong feeling that i know exactly which community compiled that very list.

Pensacola, Fl
... They literally quoted her and used her own video as a source.

What is it that you people don't understand about this?
Edit:
I'm a big boy and I can admit when I'm wrong. Went back on watched the original video again, guess I missed the intro.

So with that said...

who is the guy in the OP and why is HE spreading misinformation?

Jornalism is just headlines as we know, the actual content of the articles doesn't matter. Anything to shit on that MEDIA

I mean much of gaming journalism nowadays is no better than the comment section and will just make shit up so go figures.

They turned it into being all about comments while when you watch the video there's also other stuff going on, like the lack of viewers, people only watching for five minutes so she feels like she's doing all the work for nothing. They didn't literally report false news, but they framed it in a way that's inaccurate, thus her response.

Nontroversial take but that's because gaming journalism as a whole isn't really journalism.

There's some beloved, genuine journalism going on in this industry, but it's few and far between and met with bizarre vitriol.
