Non-binary creators appreciation thread

I wanted to make a thread highlighting the non-binary creators out there. If there are NB creators you're a fan of, here's the spot to shill them! Artists, musicians, cosplayers, developers, actors, writers, anything's game!


For myself, I wanted to talk about Chu, creator of one of my favorite webcomics, Slightly Damned, which, beneath the fantasy setting full of angels, demons, and other races, is essentially about three people from backgrounds of isolation and/or abuse helping each other through their difficulties and inspiring each other to become better people.

Our heroes in a nutshell.

Chu's art is full of so much warmth and personality, and they do a lot of different styles.

Their sketchier art is full of energy and expressiveness.

Their fanart is pretty sweet too.

And lastly, I wanted to highlight these comics they made about asexuality and aromanticism, which really meant a lot to me when I saw them.

Thanks for the thread, OP. Glad you could muster the courage to make it.

It's unlikely that I'll participate much because I'm cis and I don't know many enby creators. That said:

1) even though my support doesn't matter much, here it is anyway. Enbies are valid and good, STFU if you try to dismiss them as a fad or some other ridiculous BS.

2) I do want to recommend ThoughtSlime, who's an anarchist YouTuber and an NB (he/him, though I think he's alright with she/her, but doesn't like they/them). There isn't a video in particular that I'd recommend - they're all good -, but symbolically, I feel like this one is pretty appropriate:

Yeah. Her third album (s/t Arca) is just jaw-dropping. Unique sounding and incredibly powerful. One of the best albums of the decade for me.

This time I want to mention Gisele Joboteh, creator of another of my favorite webcomics, Star Trip.

Jas here is sick of her life on Earth, so much so that when she meets a trapped alien, she makes a deal with them to get off her planet and see the rest of the galaxy.

As a shapeshifter who can alter their mass at will, her new companion Khut is a wonder of science. They're willing to partner with Jas and indulge her galactic road trip to stay safe from the tracking team that's trying to capture them.

At its core, Star Trip is something of a coming of age story. Jas is someone who really doesn't have her shit together, to put it mildly (and neither is Khut for that matter), and seeing her slowly expand her horizons, make friends, go through ups and downs, and begin to accept herself is one of the most genuinely endearing character arcs I've seen. I also really appreciate that the cast is significantly older than most coming of age stories (Jas is 20). Not enough stories are cognizant of the fact that personal growth is a lifelong process.

Also, this is one of the only works of fiction I know of to have non-binary characters who use multiple pronouns. This page in particular:

is a really big mood for me in retrospect.
