See, I'm not being a conspiracy nut but rather a scared regular Joe, but now I'm starting to wonder if we'll never know if the Chinese government are bullshitting and that we'll never know the true amount of dead people in there.

It's not a CT. The CCPs top priorities are secrecy and lies. We have enough infection going on all over the world and those are the only outcomes or info I look at. I don't put much credence into any info coming out of China. Like I said we have a lot of countries suffering through this now so I defer to thier data and how things are going in thier countries. The place I look at as having great success is SK as they are trustworthy and are the place everyone should strive to mimic.

Guys.....I have three questions that I keep seeing mixed information on.... really seeking the truth here:

1) Is this or is this not "re-infectious" after you've gotten it? That seems crazy.

2) Does this create permanent damage to your lungs or does it depend on the severity of the illness?

3) Why are some people getting it so much worse than others? Like how can a healthy 32 year old get it real bad and a healthy 43 year old barely get really sick? Assuming neither has pre-existing conditions as well. And why do some people never show symptoms at all??
1) Nobody knows.
2) Nobody knows.
3) Nobody knows.

This virus is less than 5 months old. We have very little concrete data.

I mean is there going to be a time when this isolation is going to be deadlier than the virus itself?
Absolutely. We don't have the means to keep up with this as long as it may take to wait for a vaccine.
Maybe when push comes to shove we'll somehow not have to pay rent or things like that. But I'm personally still working, thankfully. If I were laid off I'd end up homeless if I couldn't find another job asap.

Wait, what?
And the lockdowns have barely begun...

That number seems crazy high, where does it come from?
Though I have to confess, being from filthy socialist Europe, I'm not familiar with at will employment and short lay off notices (most jobs have three month notice). I'd imagine it doesn't help employees in cases like this.
Think about how many jobs are tied to social elements that employ thousands - hotels, theater chains, amusement parks, public entertainers and sportsman, restaurant and bar employees, gyms and clubs... heck, even funeral directors are telling family members to make limited arrangements to bury their loved ones so as not to congregate everyone together and risk the spread of infection.

One of my direct subordinates has had to go into quarantine. Not sure why yet. He took his wife to get tested yesterday, so either she tested positive or he's symptomatic (but not yet confirmed positive himself). I have been doing a great job of not touching my face so I'm not too panicked. I'm just going to presume he has it and treat everything at work as contimated.

I don't think my hands can get any more raw from regular washing at this point, so it's fine.

User banned (1 week): ignoring staff post, fearmongering
if we weren't already in a Cold War with China, we definitely will be once this pandemic is over.

I have a friend in Indianapolis. Her dad's been traveling in Europe. Comes back last week with all the classic corvid symptoms. Tests negative for flu. Doctor says of course he has it. Refers him to a test at a drive-thru deal, where they tell him they're out of tests and won't have any for two weeks. The testing center further says not to bother coming back since his symptoms will be gone in two weeks, at which point the virus will no longer be detectable anyway. So now he's quarantined with his wife — who also is coming down with it — and neither of them will count toward known cases because no one will test them. Luckily they're pretty healthy, albeit in their mid-60s. But still, it's fucked up. (X-posted in Poli-Era)

Concerning 3) one of the leading virologists in Germany speculated that a reason for this might be that some people are just unlucky where the virus replicates in the lung. Usually the virus first starts to replicate in the throat and travels 'further down' later. In the aforementioned case the symptoms are already severe when they are beginning to show because the virus got quicker 'down the tube' so to speak.

Stop it. We have too much invested in them and they have too much invested in us for this shit.

I don't think it will be good for humanity obviously, but it's something that is easily foreseeable based on the CCP coverup and how Trump is already using that as cover for his own ineptitude.

So I got a message from my job saying that we were exempt from the NY mandate. Back to business as usual, although it does sound like schedule is still subject to change.

I'm very confused right now.

I work as an Amazon delivery driver. Find out where your local station is. Contact every single DSP in the station. I guarantee they will almost hire you on the spot if you make the attempt.

Am I crazy to think my job (Aerospace. Military.) is exempt due to Trump calling himself a "wartime president"?

It's the first thing I thought of when I got that message.

We're going to have massive spikes in numbers in US more-so because testing is finally ramping up. Just FYI, it's not a realtime gauge in the increase in infectivity - the numbers are likely much much higher already and *hopefully* major shutdowns of business etc will be reflective in the coming weeks.

Because of that? No. More likely because military will always be viewed as a critical need no matter who the president is.

Either way my wife is pissed. She's a nurse so she's getting pulled back in too.

We now don't know what to do with our daughter who is off from school. Mother in law is retired but she's also 66 and high risk. Can't have her with our daughter if me and my wife are bringing home god knows what.

In our situation we don't even know why we even have a lockdown. We are so screwed right now unless something changes.

Edit - Wonder if my wife gets daycare coverage free considering her profession... but still means my entire household is not quarantined.

We can't close schools for 18 months. We have to come up with an online solution for K-12 and find some way to provide socialization for younger kids. Young kids can't be cooped up for months at a time with no socialization. It will do permanent damage to them from a development standpoint.

That's what I'm hoping people realize. I really hope they don't start seeing the number of people infected and think these methods are pointless. I pray they're going to know all these people are infected and have been for awhile and just never tested for it.

Fuck. We ain't making it two months.
Calm down.

Most likely your environment is better than China's polluted environment. What we need to do now is force it to be a slow pandemic so we don't get overwhelmed like China did. We can work through this

The isolation has been dictated not only to prevent further spreading of the virus but to gain time until late-spring or summer, when the virus is expected to die by ultraviolet rays. Therefore, this should be something temporary till either the vaccine or the sun saves us all.

Though the old folks are the most vulnerable, Today 3 young dead without any previous condition have been reported in my country (Spain) +830 dead and rising at top speed with hospitals already over full capacity.

Don't leave home except for buying groceries, medical reasons or walking out the dog. it's infuriating to see and read how casual many people are still about this, as if whole countries on lockdown just for fun.

What would be worse: Everyone they love is dead or skipping social contacts for Month?
