Do we think Death Stranding can hit 5m worldwide

It's probably going to do like 600k in Japan and the European numbers look pretty meh.

major yikes at death stranding. they must have expected more from it, no?

so much for being a 10M seller or kojima's best selling game.

Damn, Death Stranding ended way lower than I expected it to. It's nuts how much of a juggernaut Pokemon continues to be.

Nice result for Pokémon and Switch being up YoY despite Cyber Monday not tracking this year.

Happy to see Luigi's Mansion remain fairly high, especially without digital included. Hopefully it continues selling as it was a tremendous game.

Death Stranding is shockingly low.
Not that it means it did poorly, but seems lower than I thought it would be.

Would Pokemon have won the month with digital? I'd say almost certainly yes

Considering Black Friday sales and multi platform titles, I'm not sure why #7 qualifies as bad for DS to be honest

I mean it's not gonna have great legs but it'll probably be fine in total sales. But it wasn't exactly the most general audience appealing fame to begin with

Is still amusing how 7 of the top 10 selling games for Switch made it to the overall top 20 without digital sales, 8 if we include Just Dance. Like in most months. Switch games not charting or charting lower can manage to still sell well despite what some assume.

Death Stranding didn't blow up, but looking past the numbers, It's not surprising that all of the games that beat it did.

Three slots taken up by Pokemon. ;p

I can sort of see why Death Stranding came in at #7. I wonder if we'll get some actual sales numbers for it?

Is 7 really that bad, especially considering Pokemon is taking up 3 of the higher spots? Not like any of the games above it aren't huge titans in the industry

As I said in the other thread, I wish we had numbers. This report in particular is pretty useless on the software front.

How is Death Stranding's performance shocking when every game above it is literally a juggernaut with mass appeal? Some of the reactions here seem...performative.

The competition was crazy fierce so I'm not surprised DS didn't come in the top 5 but it would have been nice.

Dang, relax there Pokémon, you can't just go taking up 3/5 of the top 5 like that.

Also kind of funny that not only did sword do way better than shield, but more people got sword in a double pack than they did shield alone.

BOTW was heavily discounted for the first time since launch for BF, so revenue ranking understates its volume.

Especially with the most massive controversy as of yet in the history of Pokemon mainline games. It's still topping charts.

I mean, everyone on the internet hates Modern Warfare and Madden 20 as well and both did great (both being called the worst games in a long time for the series).

Pokemon is different from CoD and Madden just because it's an exclusive and gets more forum attention imo.

you think people expected it to chart at number 7 in its debut month? and it came out very early in the month too, had a lot of time to sell. this is a disappointing result for a major title from SIE.
It's a new IP with bizarre unconventional advertising and the games above it are Madden, Pokemon, Call of Duty, and Star Wars

I think it did fine.

Death Stranding would be at #5 if it wasn't for Pokemon, so it wasn't too bad

that being said, I question the word of mouth

I dunno why the take is "Death Stranding did fucking horrible". Did anyone really think it can beat Sports, Star Wars, Call of Duty or Pokemon? lol

Yeah, I feel like context is important here. I'm not even a DS fan, but it placed 7th in the busiest month of the year, and lost only to some of the absolute biggest franchises in the industry as a new IP

I expected DS to debut below Star Wars, Pokemon, and Call of Duty. Which it did.

Madden was a bit of a surprise, though.

I really do not get the Yikes at Death Stranding. Yeah it was a highly marketed PS exclusives but look at the fucking games above it? COD and Pokémon. What else did you expect? Do people just not want to see the context?
