The largest part of Nintendo still revolve around what are essentially Miyamoto's children (Mario, Zelda, DK, etc). I'd imagine he feels a personal responsibility to be there to guide them into the larger overall scope of their entertainment platform. Once the groundwork is established for them maybe he'll leave.
But yeah Miyamoto is the big one at Nintendo where sometimes I wonder how much longer he has left in him. Tezuka is another one.
