Jon is the only one who wants whats best for humanity as a whole and is continually the only one telling them that their stupid little quibbles are bullshit and there's a real threat coming. Plus he become a leader everywhere he went because he wasn't afraid to do the right thing no matter the cost, AND he was the rightful heir to the throne though no one ever knew that. He's seen both sides of being noble and a king, and being a bastard born son. Know's how to lead even the roughest and rowdiest of men, and yet is humble enough to think he doesn't deserve to be king.
It's hard not to root for the guy who does the right thing no matter what it costs him, and I absolutely believe that power should go to the people that don't want it. It would have made him miserable but he would've been a good king. Basically Jon is the best scenario in westeros, A targaryn, raised by wolves with both Fire and Ice guiding him.
