Mat doesn't post here for a similar reason though so there is a problem, whatever your thoughts on Benji are.
I'm not making any commentary on issues, perceived or real, with Era's community right now. Independently of those, Benji's behavior doesn't put him as much in the clear as he would like everyone to believe.
Mat was PR move on the part of NPD, and stopped posting here when the corporation changed strategies. The only person I ever saw attack him was... Benji.
I didn't know Mat released a youtube video recap. I watched/listened to the whole thing even though I'd seen most of his tweets with the data already. I miss getting more concrete data, but I appreciate NPD's effort to at least share some stuff with us.
Well, to be fair, in addition to Benji, at one point a certain contingent of people also mobilized and mocked him en masse in an NPD thread that almost made him quit.

His tendency to overreact and throw a fit over any disagreement and make himself out as some victim is hilarious and it's something he's been doing for quite some time now.
It had to help MK a good deal since it was near the top of the charts for almost the entire month. It's hard to say if Smash would have beaten it though, I really hope Nintendo starts to provide digital figures for their games.
It’s a shame some users here drove two highly respected insiders away. Their insight and understanding were interesting to discuss and made me consider a new avenue with my finance degree. And I don’t think saying Benji is sensitive is right. We are all different and we all don’t take the same. If it’s affecting him then he by all means should be allowed to leave.
He is literally an NPD employee who posted here under that designation during working hours. I'm not discounting him or dismissing his value to the community, I personally enjoyed him and had some good conversations with him, but you really think he was posting here while otherwise pretending to do his "real" work? Clicking away when his boss walked in the room? He was a PR liaison implementing a controlled release strategy at GAF and here in order to keep the discussion going and mitigate the chances of outright full-data leaks, which had become a massive legal issue at GAF as you may recall.

Benji may have been in a shitty mood considering the subsequent posts containing his apology. Regardless, it's in the past and using mistakes of a former community member to derail a thread is unnecessary, imo
On top of what other people said (about big games actually releasing) we're probably going to be getting a revision not too long after E3, which will help sales bigtime.
Though it might drive down some sales after it's announced and before it releases.
I DMd Mat like a normal adult and we worked it all out. Last year I was going through a difficult time in my life and unfortunately didnt handle it well. There were several straight months where I would be a severe asshole at the flip of the Switch and it wasnt ok. I look back on some of the things I did and regret it. Luckily most people that it happened to forgave me like normal adults and we have healthy relationships now. I got put on antidepressants and it's made a world of difference fortunately.
In regards to all this chaos on here. I ask the mod and staff team to permanently ban all discussion of me on this forum or sharing of my Tweets. It's not fair to them to have to sift through all this so just ban discussions of me outright.

Nintendo increased the specs of the Switch for Capcom. They have always done more for Capcom than any other third party. If there's one third party they definitely pursued it would have been Capcom.
Yeah, it's really good, but of course you have to like baseball. The game runs really well now (even on base PS4), is a looker, and they got rid of all the souvenir micro-reward/marketplace stuff that was clogging last year's experience.
I don’t agree with what Benji did there, but have ya ever thought maybe he was in a bad mood or just made a mistake. We all make mistakes and we shouldn’t destroy someone who clearly apologize for it.
I agree, the same way that I don't think an entire community should be judged as "toxic" because at some point a few members (who were dealt with) maybe said similar things.

After the long Switch hardware performance (not sales) derail, a mod did a pretty big derail with off-topic drama about Benji. Zhuge posted something on the previous page, then the derail got stronger.

Here's the thing. I'm always transparent. Probably more than I should be. I saw this community as my "home" on the internet. Unfortunately that means you would get the good with the bad. And sometimes I was an asshole and a jerk. You'll never see me claim otherwise.
At the end of the day i wasnt mentally prepared to deal with the amount of attention I got so quickly. Suddenly you have this influx of people that love what you do and also some bad apples that hate you for it. Unfortunately as pretty much anyone will tell you that's a public figure the bad ones stick out more. I let it get to me way too much and handled myself poorly at times.
Part of the reason I went to Twitter / YouTube is so I can edit myself and feel less "comfortable". I'm an emotional person in general and those avenues really allow me to think about what I'm doing instead of just flying off the handle. I also was shitty in some Discords which really was the same thing. When I've been going through as many personal issues as I have been I shouldn't have been so public and forthcoming in my postings.

Fair enough, I get it, especially since as you point out, you weren't ready for how much attention you got out of nowhere.
I also think that yes, it's better to have an avenue where you can filter the persona you present to the public, and I hope social media like Twitter and YouTube is more comfortable for you than ResetEra was. I am one of the posters who expressed certain problems with you in this thread, but all said and done, as I said previously, at the end of the day, I did appreciate your contributions, and will continue to do so.

I don't think the issue is users leaving, people are annoyed that Benji dumped on the community on Twitter after leaving, which I can't really blame them for because there's a lot of good posters here that put in effort to keep the NPD threads civil, and to insulate guys like Mat and Benji from the behavior that drove away people like Aqua, or others before on GAF. At least that's my understanding of the current situation anyway.

Yeah I agree, I don't buy the reasoning that Nintendo didn't pursue them. Though that might have changed after MH World. Something caused Nintendo to stop distributing their games in Europe, which is why they have basically no physical releases there now.
That's not true, look on his Twitter as to why he quit posting here. It had nothing to do with NPD telling him to.
Super Mario Maker 2 is a system seller so it'll no doubt increase, especially if there's a revision and price drop around then. We're due for both of those things
I mean I get it. People dont have to like me. I get why some wouldn't. I'm a big personality and that's not always a good thing.
I'm learning and trying to do better about it. People need to realize I went from 0 Twitter followers to almost 3,000 in like 8 months. That's a lot to deal with. On top of that I had a newborn daughter and sever marriage issues. Thing is this isnt your problem. And you all shouldn't bare the brunt of my problems. I should have been more responsible and less open on social media platforms.
This is essentially "excuse making" and I get that. But i guess it's better to at least give context to a shitty attitude than just ignore it and pretend I'm a better person than I am.
