As much as that bums me out about SoV, I'm happy that them taking this leap to consoles has paid off and look forward to them iterating on it with hopefully Xenoblade 2 level post support versus BOTW post launch support.

The VAs all making jokes and the fanart and everything has given the FE crew substantial staying power as well, on top of the stellar writing people are praising. Well earned.

It's a good result! I hope legs can carry it even further. Word of mouth has been strong so personally I am expecting decent legs.

It was my first Fire Emblem game, so I am contributing to the new sales ^_^ Although I did buy it digitally, so I guess I didn't contribute to these specific sales figures >.< Hopefully we get a comprehensive worldwide report from Nintendo at some point.

Bad takes attack:
"Anime aesthetic will harm sales"
NO DAMAGE
"Graphics are pretty bad"
NO DAMAGE

Edelgard deployed:
CRITICAL HIT
*FE:TH triples previous best selling result*

Bad takes KO, Edelgard level up to top tier waifu, certified Sales Master class.

"All obstacles will be crushed...without exception."

I am very pleased by this. FE has been one of my favorite series so seeing it grow like this is fantastic. Cant wait for more dlc!

She was true to her aesthetic interests. I love it.
Still doesn't make it any less awful, which is a shame considering that she did a good job for almost every other character (one of the villains had a terrible design as well).

Either way, I'm glad that Three Houses didn't well. I definitely plan on playing it again once the patch drops.

Wait, it means as a whole or just at launch? Because if it's the former then WOW!

Although I'm actually more surprised that Shadows of Valentia sold that much at launch, I've always heard it bombed (Mind you, it was from forum posters who are not the most trustworthy sources).

Note. NPD separates the SKU's for Fire Emblem Fates into Birthright, Conquest and Special. In terms of dollar sales, Three Houses still has the highest opening in the series, even when combining SKU's for Fates. In terms of LTD, dollar sales for Fates would actually be higher than Awakening if you combine the three SKU's.

Anyway. FE:TH > 300k in the US (Put > to show with digital it'd be higher).

Considering Fates would have launched at a lower price point vs Three Houses is it actually possible that retail wise Three Houses opened lower units wise?

SoV didn't really bomb. It got less marketing & was a remake (although for the first time in the US) so I think it sold within expectations. There's probably just some saltiness from people that thought it was better than Fates & consider it a disappointment for not outselling it. I can't say I don't sympathize with that line of thinking at least a little bit..

Fates' story sucked but come on, it really wasn't.

Well done! I really hope Metroid gets a comeback Renaissance too. Hopefully Retro continues the trend with making the next launch the "BOTW" of the series just like BOTW, Odyssey, Pokemon and now Fire Emblem...

Midgar, With Love
If it weren't for the fact that the game very successfully tells multiple branching story paths I'd argue that this should prompt Intelligent Systems to craft a direct sequel. As it stands, I'm not sure how that could possibly happen -- even a 200-year timeskip or something would have to be pretty broad, and at that point just go ahead and make something else.

Wonderful world though, Fodlan.

That's pretty impressive, though expected with the buzz this game has been receiving.

If it's already over 300k in the US alone I wonder if it's hit a million worldwide yet.

A month ago I had no interest in this game, nothing about it really appealed to me. Then all of the reviews started coming out and word of mouth picked up and all of the sudden I realized that I everything I was hearing was very intriguing. I ended up buying the game on Monday and have been loving it, I don't think I have ever gone from being completely out on a game to being all in so fast before.

Thinking back, Nintendo didn't do a whole lot for MUA3 in terms of marketing, as it seemed clear that their eggs were in Three Houses' basket for that month. It honestly makes its performance this month all the more impressive, though I'm curious as to if Marvel Games may have hamstrung Nintendo in some way with marketing.

Have been enjoying greatly and it has many appealing features so it's no surprise.

3H will become the highest selling game with otome artstyle.

Would have been nice to see Youngblood chart even with it being a budget title. Game was a lot of fun even in solo play.

While I'm happy for Three Houses, and Shadow of Valentia did pretty great by all means, I'm still said that not many people played the latter.

I adore Three Houses but could only stomach a few hours of Fates's nonsensical bad-anime stupidity. So I guess story and characters are much more important to me than gameplay. Should I play Echoes?

Yes yes yes.

With the exception of some poor writing in the final act of Celica's route, everything else is witty and charming. The villains are probably some of the most developed in the entire series, and each character shows growth throughout the game.

It's wild to think that 6 years ago this IP was pretty much dead. Really glad the series is more popular than ever right now.
