Ehhh. The spider man movie did well, but not overly fantastic. Think ppl ate burned out on spider man, films at least anyway

It's incredible how this forum (some users) still don't understand this, Fifa players are more "hardcore" than most here or most rpg players, they play to win, they hate to to lose and believe me, they play hundreds of hours per month.

You do know that Spider-Man is the highest grossing comic movie WW so far this year .
Unless you talk USA wise then yeah it did okay but that was after 2 bad movies things better .
i wouldnt be surprised if they return to the handheld market eventually, but i couldnt tell you when
maybe when battery tech gets better, maybe when they think of a new angle for marketing it or what have you

That's the exact failure of the Vita and the reverse opposite of Switch's success.
If Sony were to make another handheld, the rational path imo would be to embrace what Switch does, and basically make a portable platform that can play all the games that its big-brother console can.

Wii had supply issues which may have altered the size of the growth MoM of its first years. However it seems that handhelds are having a more sizable bump in December (handhelds being more adapted for kids can be a reason).
Interesting, would be possible seeing Switch at 1.5-1.6 millions in december?

I don't think the Pokémon brand has ever been stronger. The games last year set sales records, and the ultra versions are off to great starts.

Nintendo's smartphone strategy really is going to pay off immensely isn't it... I wonder if Animal Crossing will cause a similar effect whenever it releases on Switch (guessing next Fall).

Hello Mat. I wanted to know what is NPD's position on how different SKUs might count as the same game or not.
For example we have :
- Pokemon US/UM counted separetely.
- Standard Edition, "Gold Editions" etc counted as the same game
- Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe counted as the same game.
I am guessing that the line will get more and more blurry with the explosion of the number of SKUs and monetization these previous years. That's why I wanted to know your clear position on the subject.
Yes because they are the only big releases on the system. Where is COD or Star wars or the latest Fifa(not that shitty version available) ???
People buy Nintendo for the Nintendo games.
It's selling faster than most, if not all other Nintendo systems. It's quite ahead of the 3DS, which received a very aggressive price cut early on (and also had 3D Mario and MK year one).

Great numbers for everyone. But it is so depressing that Metroid: Samus Returns didn't even chart on the 3DS top ten. :\

those were two different consoles, at two different prices and with two very different libraries.
i think the Wii was 250 and the DS was 150 as well (unless im misremembering)
I don't understand the thought that because the Switch is both a handheld and portable, it should be selling double the amount any other console.
