Nvidia announces GeForce event for August 20 (day before Gamescom; countdown timer in OP)

Any predictions before the official announcements?
My estimations for the performance and the prices of the new cards:
RTX 2080 Ti $849. 50% faster than the GTX 1080 Ti.
RTX 2080 $599. 20% faster than the GTX 1080 Ti.
RTX 2070 $399. Similar performance to GTX 1080 Ti.

I don't see the 2070 beating the 1080ti.
The 2080 with maybe 10-20% better performance than stock 1080ti's.
2080 ti with 50% performance over the 1080ti would be huge(and maybe claimed by nVidia) but i see 30-40% better in real world performance over stock 1080 ti.(unless it's $1000)

I don't think that they can do that. VRR is one of the main features of the HDMI 2.1 specification.
Nvidia can't release a custom HDMI specification so if the 30xx series have support for HDMI 2.1 it will have all the features.
2020 will be my next build which should run most ps5/X2 games 4K 60+fps.
BUS width determines the amount of RAM. Every 32 width = 1 ram chip. The 256 bus width 2080 is 8 ram chips. The 352 bus 2080ti is 11 ram chips. The full size Titan card is 384 bus width, that is 12 ram chips. The available size of ram chip for ddr6 is either 1GB or 2GB. Therefore the ti can only have 11 or 22GB. The Titan can have 12 or 24 (the Quadro does have 24). The 2080 can have 8 or 16GB.

This is where I am at, my build is from 2012 with a 680 and a 60hz Asus monitor that is more realistically around 50... I think its time for a 2080 Ti and an 120hz UltraWide.
I'm assuming that we'll get a new thread tomorrow for the card itself - does hardware get an OT?
There should be an OT for the Nvidia event. Someone will make a thread when the cards are announced.
And I'm still use my build from 2011 with a gtx480 and core i3-2100 !!! now i wonder if i buy 2080ti with good cpu and new monitor in 4k, my brain can handle this jump?

The used 10-series cards are selling for lowish prices right now on eBay auctions. I've been watching some of them and some 1080's are going for < $300 and some 1080ti's are finishing under $450. I'm kinda tempted on the Ti's because I'm impatient and don't want to spend months fighting for a 2080.

There have been more leaks than the Titanic at this point. Videocardz has been posting the promotional images for the 2080s and 2080tis from most major brands. Preorder listings went live on websites accidentally.
Current consensus is that 2080 and 2080ti will both be up for preorder basically as soon as the thing ends tomorrow. 2070 and others will come a little later, but are probably getting announced at least.
So I'm sorry if I missed it but I don't see anywhere. Any estimate how much more powerful these may be than a standard 1080? I understand there likely aren't any real benchmarks yet.
Oh godddd oh god oh god i was not ready for this. But damn i will be there day 1 for a 2080ti! Hopefully a strix equivilent as my 1080ti strix has been great!

There are zero benchmarks. A moderately dubious leak provided some percentage figures but I would advise you to just wait a few days rather than bother with that data. Note that we won't get reviews tomorrow most likely, just Nvidia marketing stuff that will play up the increases. It could be up to a week or two before we actually get the data, depending on how far in advance of the actual release this is being announced.
It also might be like 24 hours after the announcement we get reviews, but apparently people hadn't received cards for benching as of a day or two ago (rumour), so I'm thinking a few days at least.
Could be that some YouTubers have cards already by signing a confidentiality. Pretty unlikely though.
I could live with a $600 2080. I would have preferred the 2080Ti, but the price is a bit beyond my range. By the time I get that cash, they will likely be sold out or we will be closer to the 7nm cards.
I had an MSI Gaming X 970 and then an MSI Gaming X 1070. Both cards have been fantastic. I'm thus inclined towards whatever the MSI card is called for the 2080 Ti, but we'll see...
Also, just for fun, how about we name some games that really need the RTX 2080 Ti for 4K or 3440x1440....
Quantum Break, which I adored, ran at about 45 FPS for me at near max settings with that upscaling thing disabled. Can't wait to play this beautiful game at 60 FPS or slightly above.

He was referring to the next xx80 Ti cards to be released after next gen consoles are out.
This is what I am wondering... I have held off on playing a certain few games (DOOM, The Witcher 3, and a few others), just so I can play them with this new build. With G-Sync and 120hz alone my mind will probably explode.

Real missed cross marketing opportunity
Based on sheer speculation in this thread and others like this one and that the 2080 Ti is being released at the same time as the 2080, I am going to say that maybe it might come out sooner rather than later or might not even come out. This is because people here are speculating that because the 2080 Ti is coming out at the same time as the 2080, this generation might be a shorter one and a "stop-gap" until Nvidia can mass produce its 7nm chips slated for next year.
The 1070 outperformed the 980ti. Nvidia is saying these cards are a bigger improvement than anything in the past ten years. It should be as good as the 1080ti. Just probably safe to assume the MSRP will be $500+ if true though too....
