Ah boy, here we go. Time to see if I should kill my savings on a GPU or stick to what i already have. Let's go!

*EDIT* - So far, everything has been saying if you have a GTX 1080 Ti, then the RTX 2080 is basically a side upgrade. Hmm.

Still can't hit 60fps 4K on Monster Hunter World XD

2080TI seems pretty good upgrade though, although the price :(

Looks a bit underwhelming at first sight, not gonna lie. At least compared to the 1080Ti.

Just skimming through a bit. About what I expected.

1080 ti to 2080 is not worth it. 2080 ti, not surprisingly, the best card on the market.

The 2080 and 2080 ti are two of the worst dollar per fps cards on the market, but they are the top cards.

More than a 100% increase in fps at 4k from my 980Ti in almost everything. Sold.

I mean, I've sold a few board games and stuff to offset the cost, but I'm OK with that.

So if you could find a used 1080 Ti it should be a better deal than a 2080? If you think about a 2080 as the 1080 Ti equivalent, it doesn't offer much of a performance increase for the same/similar cost.

Who would have thought that a 800€ xx80 would be the worst price per fps card ^_^

My guess is that the 2080 will start to pull ahead as developers take advantage of its architecture changes. Plus, DLSS could be huge.

It would appear as though I should just go ahead and pull the trigger on the 1080Ti I've been eyeing...

Something that I'm seeing. Why are they comparing the 20xx cards to the old FE cards? The 20xx cards are overclocked out of the box.

Do any reviews show some side by side images of DLSS vs native 4k? I haven't looked through them all yet but haven't seen that.

It seems that it is a good upgrade for people with 1440p displays, more so for people with 4k ones but 1080p users have far fewer performance gains. The higher your screen's resolution is, the more worthwhile these cards are. At least that's my general impression thus far.

Looking at those benchmarks, I forget what an absolute dog Vega is in the power consumption. *Woof* What an terrible architecture for gaming.

Not feeling it, considering that with a few exceptions I'm mostly playing older games and emulation. I'll stick with my 1080 for now.

I'm satisfied with the performance out of the 2080. I want that RT and the non-RT performance fits my bill.

Yeah for me at 1080p144Hz I guess I'll just be sticking with my gtx 1080 for a while.

300+fps in Wolf2, anyone?

wolfenstein-2_1920-1080.png

Crazy, these cards really shine in Wolfenstein 2. Although in HardwareCanucks's review the RTX 2080 struggles to run the "Mein Leben!" settings at 4K on the Manhattan level, enabling the 1080 Ti to outperform it.

Believe it or not, the latest Wolfenstien game actually provides one of the most surprising yet not completely unexpected results of this entire review. At 1440P things seem to be going really well for the RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080 since they're able to chew through framerates despite every detail setting being maxed. BUT when the resolution is increased to 4K, the RTX 2080's performance simply falls through the floor while the GTX 1080 Ti and RTX 2080 Ti surge ahead.

The reason for this is pretty simple: the 8GB framebuffer and lower memory bandwidth cause a severe bottleneck on the Manhattan mission we chose. Even Vega 64's higher bandwidth number allows it to finally become sort of competitive.
