well time to add in a storyline where Cody gets cucked by Tully Blanchard.

but seriously I hope they do stabilize over a million, because I would really hate to see a ton of excellent wrestlers not making a great salary because WWE isnt going to recover with Vince Mcmahon being senile.

Not really a good week for either show ratings wise. Though I have to imagine baseball lowers the total viewers for both shows.
They're right in line with expectations. I predicted a 1.2 million. The fact is, you're going to drop off from your premier episode. Like every single TV show does that. Even when they aren't up against playoffs.

They will, but not for a few months. It's a coin toss if they stay north of 1 million next week. They'll level off probably around 900,000 and over the next six to twelve months build back up over a million, and before next October I think they'll beat the 1.4 million week one did.

That's my prediction anyway.

I definitely think this is a factor. I mean how many "real shoot fighters" do you need on one show? Do young people really watch a ton of MMA?

Outside of Dave Meltzer calling Kushida one of the best wrestlers in the world a while back why would the average wrestling fan give a crap about Kushida vs Walter. I like that stuff but I am also on a message board talking about wrestling, while constantly on twitter talking about wrestling, then I go to youtube to listen to podcast where Cornette talks about how he once tried to kill a man, I am not your average fan.

Who knew that constantly telling your audience that NXT stars aren't shit on the main roster would lead to people not watching NXT. Who knew? 🤷🤷🤷

WWE sent NXT to die on USA, it has great wrestling but the show feels small and has very few compelling storylines. I'am not looking forward to Vince getting involved if the ratings continue to crater.

Undisputed Era better be careful when shocking the system, they might give their audience a heart attack.

The problem for NXT isn't that people who watch WWE aren't watching it. The 50+ (WWE's main audience) is translating. It's that they can't get any younger viewers.

WWE could end up sending more guys back to NXT like Finn. People who don't get used on the main roster much. But that would just take away opportunities from the up and coming talents.

It would help spread the opportunities if they stopped signing so many people they have no plan for, but we know that won't happen in a war.

back to the thread after catching aew, another good show

i do wonder if some of the war numbers are just people are choosing to watch aew live, because that's the easiest way to watch aew, then doing what they're used to doing and watching nxt when they feel like it on the network, especially the younger audience 🤷‍♀️

What's the alternative? The main roster style that's drawing the same audience and has the same problem drawing young viewers? This isn't an NXT problem, it's a WWE problem.
Yep. The issue with NXT isn't really the on screen product. It's the WWE brand. I didn't stop watching it because it was bad, but because of who was behind it.

Their best hope is that Smackdown's new wider audience can be driven to NXT.

in plagiarize I trust.

Dude made me a believer that they could hit over 1.0 when I was standing around with my rinky dink 0.8 prediction.

So did the RAW team do market research and realize old people were really into cuck porn on Pornhub or something?

They lost 300k viewers from the first episode, and not a single one went to NXT

So if anybody so badly wants something to be pessimistic about: if AEW goes under at any point, it's far more likely the aftermath is like that of WCW in that when people have to choose to go to the victors, go out of their way to find an alternative, or just abandon ship on wrestling entirely, they'll just choose the latter because it's easiest to do

For as successful as WWE is, there is a stink on them that younger viewers have decided they are not interested in. It would take a dramatic change in philosophy from top to bottom and a lot of time to even begin to try and turn that around, and that's not happening anytime soon (if ever)

Looks like aew lost a lot of young viewers as well. It's time to admit, wrestling isn't cool anymore

Realistically, NXT goes as WWE goes. Because eventually it's inescapable. Your favorite NXT guy has to go to main roster. And that guy (or woman) will have to be cucked by Bobby Lashley, or beg for his job, or something that makes them look wack.

My take is that wrestling is still cool with young people, but all of that interest shifted to local indie promotions. Anecdotally, I know a bunch of people that go to local shows but don' follow WWE and only know a little bit about what AEW is doing. The barrier is still cable TV and not a lot of the young casual fans are going to bother jumping through hoops to get whatever service is showing the weekly shows.

cable television is not barrier. I mean other sports leagues don't really have the issues that wwe has. And even then Indy promotions themselves aren't popular enough to be the reason why young people aren't In Wrestling.

Its a hell of a lot easier to watch NXT, and AEW then to go to your local indie show, and your going to see significantly more talent.

Or you know, if you thought it'd turn around in less than two weeks maybe you were a tad overly optimistic.

Lets just put it this way

I thought AEW was going to debut at 2.7 million.

Maybe I should expand where I go to gauge fan interest.

I think the biggest reason for the young people is that top guys aren't cool to them. And can you blame them? Seth and Roman reigns supposed to be cool to teen. I mean compare them to the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin that is your issue.
