That doesn't seem like the best choice to get used to it, with all the jumping around and such. It's incredibly cool, so I guess that part helps!

Haha certainly feels a little into the deep end, but motion hasn't bothered me that bad, just start to feel it after playing awhile.

Need to build my way up for sure, but it's just incredible how easy it was to pull HL off my PC and setup with the mod, Team Beef are incredible, excited to check out their other ports.

Since Star Wars pinball was mentioned earlier....how does that compare to FX2 VR? I see FX2 VR on sale all the time on Steam (it's actually on sale right now!). Not really looking to buy either right now, but might as well ask. VR pinball looks interesting to me. Aside from playing with real machines a few times as a kid, I really liked that one pinball game that used to come with Windows.

I finally decided I was going to take the plunge on Star Wars Pinball last night, but the sale had ended already. Halloween sale that ends days before Halloween. All right. Guess I'll pick it up next sale then.

Got my Quest 2 all unpacked (beautiful packaging all round) and I have downloaded Steam VR & Gorn to try out Air Link tomorrow.

I am too tired from travelling to set it all up now but I did install the glasses spacer and the silicone cover. I have the headstrap + battery ordered for next week but for now I will start off with Resi 4 and if Air Link works well I will look into Half Life: Alyx soon.

Quite excited to get back into VR - especially completely wireless.

I finally bought an elite strap with battery. Was erring on the side of not getting one and waiting to see what went down at the Connect, but now it looks like the Quest 2 is going to be around for a while yet, I decided to jump in.

What kind of battery life are we looking at with the added battery?

Star Wars Pinball is really good. Pretty much every table is fun and playing in VR is really immersive. I paid full price and felt like it was worthwhile.

The battery pack adds around two hours so you should get roughly five hours total.

For some reason I thought Star Wars Pinball was just one table and therefore terribly overpriced. Just checked the store page. Ten tables included?!

Fucking bought!

Yeah Star Wars Pinball is legit if you're both a fan of the franchise and pinball in general. I also wonder if there's any chance of the Marvel tables getting similar VR treatment down the line.

Just played some Star Wars Pinball. They really nailed the feel of playing on a real pinball table (turn off ball trails). Makes me miss my old pinball machine a bit less.

Played three tables so far: A New Hope, Empire, and Mandalorian. Mandalorian is technically good looking but they went too far. It has noticeable and frequent performance drops. Made me a bit worried, but luckily the two others performed perfectly.

Giving you the opportunity to unlock posters, figures etc. is a really cool idea. I'd wish you could pick up the objects and look from different angles though. That was so cool in RE4VR when you won the prizes at the shooting range. Those figures are much cooler to look at than in the flat game.

Star Wars Pinball EDIT:

I really like what they've done here, but I'm leaning towards a heavy return. I've never returned an Oculus purchase before, but I think I might with this.

As someone who plays a lot of VR pinball on PC, it's really rough going back to 72hz. It even feels like it's dropping frames. 120hz pinball with the Index is ridiculously smooth. This makes me feel like the ball is warping all over the place. And it's not nearly as responsive. Might just pick it up on Steam instead. Wish they would have released a Rift version and just made it cross buy:(

Where are you located? In Canada it's still active?

Thanks for posting this. I don't know WTF the deal was with the app last night, but I logged on with my phone and it was showing 24.99 for me. Just went to the webpage on my PC and bought it for 17.99.

Can you even do anything with referrals after you've already connected to Facebook? I'm assuming that I can't accept anyones referral now, right?

Star Wars pinball on the quest feels great to me so I'm glad (although I'm jealous) that I've never played vr pinball on a pc then…lol.

The game actually defaults to a lower resolution and in options you can set it to higher which warns you that the Quest 1 probably won't give a good experience in this mode.

I set mine to higher from the get go (Quest 2) and out of three tables, one (Mandalorian) had shitty performance.

Btmmayor, have you changed yours to high? If not, that might explain why it runs fine.

1DFE, how about you? And which tables did you experience it with? If there are more tables that run like Mandalorian I might consider a refund too.

So, I'm thinking about buying this today (in the afternoon later) thanks to a gamestop trade in bonus. My question is do the remotes work well and can I play pc games like VR chat/ skyrim VR on it (while tethered/connected via USB) and is it good for the purchase if you liked say RE7 VR on the ps VR but hated the cord management or should I just wait and save some money for a more powerful headset.
Also would use this as a beat saber modded and superhot device if that helps (and the new RE4 VR game)

Sorry for asking a probably repeated question.

Everything works great and being cordless is amazing. You can do pcvr on it tethered or wireless depending on your home network situation. I'd definitely recommend.

Got a new Quest 2 yesterday. I did the setup for it and one of my kids played it for a few hours. Said he was having fun and is a definite step up from the PSVR

Your kid is right. Going wireless feels so good. If you need game recommendations, a lot of people here a happy to help. I'd recommend I expect you to die 1 & 2 :)
Here's hoping for Saints and Sinners on Sale in 5min 👀

If you're buying a Quest 2 today make sure you get a $30 referral from someone. RE4VR for $10 is a perfect way to break in your headset lol. Just PM if you need help. DO NOT activate your headset let alone turn it on until you get the referral if you want one from someone.

PS mistakes were made, wife can't get enough of beatsaber

When coming from the move controllers on the Playstation it cannot be overstated how much better the Oculus Touch controllers are. They are much nicer to hold and have more intuitive button placement. The real showstopper is the tracking though. Much, MUCH more precise. You never have the thing with you holding a gun and the ingame representation/direction it's pointing not lining up with the way you are holding the controller. Also, when the gun shakes it's only due to your real hand shaking, not the tracking having a hard time keeping up.

When you miss, it's your fault, not the game's. Makes a world of difference regarding immersion.

First thing I did was turn the settings to high.

I played 4 or 5 tables. First table was Star Wars Collectibles. I think that one was really bad for me. Mandalorian also had issues. The other couple I randomly selected were better, but I'm not sure how great they really ran. It may have just been that my standards had dropped so much by then, that I was happy with any improvements. Even ignoring that the ball didn't have silky smooth movement, I still felt like I needed to press the flippers in anticipation (unlike on PC where I'll press flippers based on visual feedback).

EDIT: Submitted my first refund request. We'll see how it goes. If I pick this up on Steam, I'm fairly certain I could even run this at 144hz on my Index.

Wtf.

Resident Evil 4 VR is sick. Somehow I can also deal with full motion despite getting very motion sick with PSVR. Weird. Now I need more games to try out after I finish this one.

If you want something completely different, check out In Death. Best bow game in VR.

If you want gun porn then Gun Club VR has the most realistic guns you can play with in VR and the selction is absolutely huge. Be aware though that it's primarily a shooting gallery. Kind of like the shooting gallery in RE4 but with bigger areas. You earn money (in game) by completing challenges and can use them for upgrades and modifications for your weapons.

If you want Sega arcade action with spiderman swinging, uzis, and cell shading (and you have the VR legs for it) then Swarm is brilliant.

I'll take a peek at these, thanks for the recommendations.

I'm curious... do people keep a microfiber around for the lenses? Mine tend to have a smudge or two when I put them back on after taking them off. Are the lenses as prone to scratches etc as the PSVR ones?

I use the microfibre cloth I got with my PSVR for cleaning my Quest lenses 😁

Finally had to change the battery in one of my controllers. After 6 months. And the other (right) one is still at 40%.

Compared to the drain on the Quest 1 controllers this feels like witchcraft.

You can do wireless PCVR if your wifi is decent, otherwise a good fast and sufficiently long USB-C cable will work, the Oculus one is dummy expensive.

I use a large microfiber cloth. I normally keep it draped over the lenses when I'm not using the quest to keep dust/sun out, if I need to I will use that to wipe the lenses as well.

Agreed. The battery life is crazy considering how often most games use the rumble. I changed the batteries in mine after two months but during that time I almost played Beat Saber for 1 hour each day as well as other games on top of that. It's very impressive.

Just got my quest and almost immediately vomited with RE4. I'm using sitting down controls and it's awful. I don't think I'm cut out for VR 🤮

So I've had no interest in the Oculus until RE4VR was a thing. Obviously, I wouldn't get it for one game. I looked into other games and I think there's enough to make it worth it. Especially if I wait until I get my bonus discount this holiday (25% off). I guess my question is: Is the $300 ($225 after discount) version fine to get?

Is it your first vr game? Try changing to teleport motion. RE4 has wildly fast running speed for a vr game. Playing full fps in this game is a pretty tough place to start your vr journey. You have to get used to movement in vr before you embark on one of the fastest running games the format has to offer.

And then when you think you are ready to do full fps, don't strafe to begin with and make sure you only run in a straight line. Doom made some people motion sick back in the day because we weren't used to it's virtual speed. This is a new format - you have to learn video games all over again.

The 128GB version has plenty of storage. Most games take up 1-3GB. Re4 is one of the bigger ones at 11GB.

I think the only difference in Quest 2 models is storage size. The default is 128gb now which, from what I've seen is more than enough for the size that most games are. My 64gb version has like 6 or 7 games installed and still has 25gb free.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll consider getting one as long as we have some in stock in early December when I get my discount.
