actual ps5 reveal should just be a video of cerny doing asmr

a larger ssd would likely be more expensive than a disk drive no?
Yes but I suppose they prefer to push the digital only future to get more revenue from people buying directly from their PSN store... but maybe its just my guess.

Definitely possible. How else should psvr games work? Only possible way would be a light bar on the new ds5 and I doubt sony will do that.

So what you are saying is the PSVR works with PS5, but PS5's controllers don't support VR? That would be really odd. There will be some sort of lightbar on the DS5, no doubt.

With those speedy load times could you imagine fighting games online, just zipping from one fight to the next?
It's kinda possible today in PC SSD vs PC SSD matches with a mod installed and it's great when both players have it. Unfortunately, most don't know it exists. Or are playing on PS4.

Even then, though, it doesn't eliminate all loading. The devs do have to put in some work implementing proper lazy loading to achieve that. How many will prioritize it?

Yep, the frontrunner always oversteps their bounds and then ends up taking a couple of steps backwards. We see it every cycle.

People are pretty pissed about Sony and sexual content censorship that has been going on lately. It used to be that Nintendo was the toughest on censorship, with their family friendly image. But now the Switch is the goto platform for all of the lewd JP games; Nintendo is welcoming these titles with open arms while Sony is censoring them. I don't know why the frontrunning company always has to screw with their core base and make a couple of consumer-unfriendly decisions which allows the market to shift. They become overconfident. We're all very aware what Xbox tried to do with the XB1 announcement coming of their wave of success with the 360. We've seen what Nintendo does after they caught lightning in a bottle with the success of the Wii. Then the trailing companies catch up. It's its own kind of cycle.

Even though Cerny seems very in-touch with next gen hardware development, Sony is already making these kind of missteps that can set them back.
Lol no they don't. Sony was the frontrunner in both Gen 5 and Gen 6. They made a mistake with Gen 7 but corrected it with Gen 8. They aren't going to make a mistake like that again.

Also no one outside of Reddit, GameFAQs, and here gives a shit about Sony cracking down on Japanese porn games and pedo bait games. If anything they read the headline and say "oh well thats good" and never think of it again.

After these revelations I expect:
- Fall 2020 release
- Backward compatibility for PS4 games (digital at least)
- PSVR + games compatible but not with better graphic/resolution, just as they are now
- A price of 499€ or at max 549€
- 2 consoles: 1 without disc (maybe cheaper or with larger SSD) and 1 with disc (maybe expensive and with smaller SSD)

What I hope:
- Please dont be as loud as the PS4 PRO... please...

7nm shrink will help with cooling and thermals in general but they do need to implement a better cooling solution for these boxes.

Wow, so it's perfectly emulated. (Sorry, bad joke)
Hehe, but no it's sub 20FPS and has very ugly graphical glitches, but a year or so ago, it was literally unplayable, like couldn't even start, so big progress, but still a very long way to go. On the otherhand stuff like Persona 5 run at a pretty stable 60, with minor graphical glitches, so not all bad, just not all good either.
Edit:P5, not P4.

Why would you not expect physical BC? It's the same code, just read from a disc instead (which the PS5 will still support). There seems to be no technical reason why BC would be digital only, only monetary ones (forcing us to rebuy games - which would be very shitty).

It will most likely support Freesync /w VRR.. It's one of the big features coming this year for high end TVs.. Xbox One X already supports it so..

Yeah that's why I'm hopeful, I was just curious if there was any confirmation yet. Thinking about it, since my monitor's range only starts at 48hz I doubt I would get too much out of it though :/

If anyone has revenue to burn, it's Microsoft. I can see them selling the next Xbox at more of a loss just to compete with Sony.

I for one want Sony to lose the next-gen battle, humble them a little bit so they stop blocking consumer friendly features (cross play, cross platform progression, etc).

They've been dicks this gen, stunting forward thinking gaming trends. For the players, what a load of bullshit.

Sony and Microsoft will have a great run next gen, as to who'd be the winner it all depends on content around both platforms. Sony has a huge support from it's community and they've earned a lot of good will and corrected on their missteps from PS3 gen. Sony's clearly the winner in 8th gen and I see them succeeding by crafting another remarkable console that developers will love making games for it. PS5 will be a huge success from day one :)

100% PS2 and PS3 aren't worth the BC headache. Burn the past.

PS4... makes sense, it's really similar hardware, and it has all the worthwhile PS2/3 remasters already.

I Expect Sony to look for some kind of BC on PS1, PS2, PS3 but more focused in some kind of integration with Playstation NOW that allow the people to access the whole catalog and not only via Streaming but also downloads...if they archive this PS NOW Value will be amazing.

Will be a dream if they can Add PSP, PS Vita catalog to that library and all legacy devices supporting downloads and not only the Streaming option.

My friends that are casual gamers were surprised it's already being talked about. Some of them legit thought it was coming in 2025.

Id say none, It's not that popular and probably is only going to go down hill. Other manufactures are already dropping out of making players.

Next gen games won't fit on current discs.

UHD drive is mandatory.

Just like people can't play 4K games on the Pro apparently

8k on PS5 will basically what Sony means when they say 4k on PS4 Pro. Will probably be heavily CBr mixed in there, so people expecting all the Sony exclusives at 8k really need to temper expectations.

I'd say regardless of how UHD movies are doing, the UHD bluray tech will be imperative for fitting AAA games that are already pushing 60-70GB as it is. If an Xbone Slim can have a UHD drive, I see do reason why a next-gen console with a super-fast SSD can't have one either.

i disagree with none, sony has interest in that segment because they have sony pictures, tvs, they are part of the blu-ray disc association etc.
but i'm not optimist with the chances of having

It doesn't need to support the UHD format, just the disk, think of the Wii U drive. But honestly it's more likely that it will support it.

I seriously hope it will have audio options. The PS4 is way too basic in this regard. I should be pretty easy to change things like bass and treble and the left/right audio balance from the console, regardless which headset you are using. iOS and Android have extensive audio options, there is no reason PS5 shouldn't have them as well.
