Truly awful

What's being called one of the greatest sex abuse scandals in American history continues to unfold at Ohio State University.

A civil lawsuit filed in federal court alleges Dr. Richard Strauss abused students and student athletes beginning in 1978 -- Strauss' first year at OSU -- and spanned his entire two-decade tenure

At least 177 male students were sexually abused, according to an investigative report released Friday.

Attorneys representing approximately 60 victims claim the real number is between 1,500 and 2,500.

"This is one of the biggest sex abuse scandals in U.S. history, yet the report only scratches the surface," said Ilann Maazel, attorney, Emery Celli Brinckerhoff and Abady LLP. "How many hundreds or thousands of OSU students did Dr. Strauss abuse? What are the names of all the OSU coaches, trainers and administrators who knew about the abuse and did nothing? What will OSU do to make these survivors whole? It's time for a full reckoning at this university."

Awful thread. Shitting on one of the best states in the US and just dropping a link with no summary or explanation? Do better, OP.

GDPR says no article for me.

Summary?

You were saved from about 30 popups trying to get you to turn off adblocker, get push notifications of new ohio towny stories, sign up for daily updates ... and ... then an autoplaying video.

Gist of the story is there's a major sex abuse scandal at Ohio State University starting in the 1970s through to the 1990s. A professor named Richard Strauss is accused by 60 people of sexual abuse, but attorneys for the abused allege the true numbers may be in the thousands. Reportedly, while he was a doctor for the athletic teams he regularly groped student athletes, and was called "Dr. Jelly Paws" by students. He also, reportedly, stood naked in the men's locker rooms and showered with students for hours a day, several times per day. The accused died by suicide in 2005.

I don't know if the story really matches the title of the OP, but Ohio State University did a bad job with this predator and may be held negligent.

Seems more like OSU is the worst (which they are), rather than the whole state.

Let's not pretend Florida and Alabama suddenly don't exist anymore, albeit, Alabama seems to be taking that lead as of late.
