I was actually surprised, one of my videos seems to be gradually doing okay and has a fair share of legs. (It's a video on why Naruto's war arc is so bad) It was a lengthy one and I gradually go insane as I'm critiquing the war arc. The thing is I've learned when you do longer videos, you have to do something to keep people entertained and it was a my thumbnail artists idea to do it all in one video. It's a small feeling of accomplishment when one of your videos is FINALLY gaining some gradual traction after years of trying. So, never give up aspiring YouTubers. Keep trying. It's a small start.

I don't know. I guess the YouTube system for some reason allows that video to show up in recommendations?

It's actually a pretty good motivator. Part of why I got into programming a long time ago is because I made a recreation of a Mega Man game in Game Maker, posted it on YouTube, and got over 10,000 views. Especially as someone who's bad at finding the motivation to do certain things, it was a pretty important thing for me.

Keep it up, and like that you'll get more and more viewers. Gotta be unique in these times.

Well, I guess I could link it here if people are okay with it? I didn't do it because I don't know if the rules allow it.

YouTube is weird. I mostly just upload gameplay videos so i can go back and watch them later to feel nostalgic. But one of my videos has 250K views, and to this day i have no idea who is watching this video or why.

Yeah, I have a friend who would just splice together clips of Adventure Time and play it to music and she got around 1 million views on her videos.

I have one with 219,896 views, lol.

The rest of my videos rarely break 50 views. I don't even pay attention to my Youtube channel. Blew my mind when I checked it.

Looking back, I made some crucial mistakes towards the end. Accentuation. In particular. But to be honest, by the end, I was so hoarse from yelling that I didn't even have the energy to do different takes. My voice was pretty hoarse.

Once you start getting recommended by the algorithm on content that is already popular that's when you're gonna blow up, I think. Plastic love for instance, wtf

Youtube's weird tbh. 3 of my videos have over 1k views, one even has 5k. The videos were only ever for like sharing with a few people so I'm not sure how they got so many views but I guess some people care about these things.

I post videos about obscure board games (out of print and import stuff) occasionally and I'm about to hit 1,000 subscribers. That's cool, but I do no promotion or anything, and certainly don't bother with clickbait titles or production values.

Some of my videos hit > 10k views, some get like 300. There's no rhyme or reason to any of it as far as I'm concerned, so I try not to pay attention to the metrics.

I wouldn't be surprised if they make up numbers like Facebook recently got caught doing.

Is it even possible to create a channel these days? Seems to be incredibly saturated.

Congrats OP, just getting the first video to snowball is kind of difficult.

If you make another Naruto video, it'll recommend to a lot of the users who watched many minutes of your earlier vid, and several more randoms. The algorithm really likes series of videos about a topic.

Yeah, I'm planning to make one about how Naruto should've ended, but it's taking more time.

Sometimes the algorithm works in mysterious ways.
Seriously, YT recommended a video called "I'd die for Claire from the Bon Appetit Test Kitchen" made by some weeb. I didn't watch it but now everybody references that video's title on the comments of BA videos.

Congrats, OP.

But you forgot to tell me to like, share, and subscribe. Gotta play to win in this game, rookie.

Time to slap your boss and walk out your day job. Let me know if PewDiePie really is as big a piece of shit as he seems every time he opens his mouth when you're sitting next to him at the top.

Please. Connections like him I can do without.

I'd much rather be able to do a video with SomeCallMeJohnny or even AVGN.

I have a video i uploaded 10 years ago from a Nickelback concert. It was from a small handheld cam but because the audio came out crystal clear without crappy bass (bass sounds like shit), it actually got a lot of hits. I think its over 250k 120k views now. I guess I'm famous. It's also the only video I've ever posted (well 2 others from the same concert but they only got a few thousand views) but I figure I'll start and end my career at my peak. Also it's Nickelback and I went against my will so I'd rather not be known for anything related to Nickelback.

edit: apparently my memory is terrible and ive told the story so many times that i've somehow managed to exaggerrate it quite a bit...

I just checked my account and my only upload to YouTube has gained 6.6k views over a 10 year period. I was pretty shocked by that. It's 11 minutes long and quite boring so I assumed no-one would watch it.

1k in 8 months is not bad. That should accrue a large amount if the algorithms get a hold of it.

Yeah I have a few guitar cover videos in the 5K+ views but they don't really translate into subs. Such is youtube.

I do from time to time, but I sometimes like to end my videos on just a scene from the game or movie.

Time to time?

Bruh...how you gonna get where you need to go without calls to action?

If you can't get past this reluctance to program your audience's behavior, we ain't ever gonna get this merch off the ground.

Some people have found that videos that they uploaded from 11 years okay JUMPED in popularity.

Yeah, I do it at the end... but I'm considering doing it at the beginning of the video. Might be better that way.

I have an article that gets an oddly consistent couple views every day. Took me a while to figure it out. Apparently there is a gay pornstar named Hitman.
