Makes sense in a lot of ways. Big holiday game along with a big film release this year. More PS5s in the wild plus a new Spider-Man bundle with a new SKU equals boom. Probably bigger than Ragnarok.

If that wasn't supposed to come out then what a way to find out you might not have a job beyond this week.

Edit: just so we're all clear, this isn't me calling for her to be fired. A lot of people quoting this are assuming that.

Melbourne, Australia
That makes sense as the target looking at what's currently lined up for next year. After PSVR and Call of the Mountain Sony don't seem to have much in the way of full releases from their first parties announced for next year and Spidey 2 definitely felt like the most likely for 2023 out of anything already announced.

MLB, Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade and TLOU Factions.

Why do people on Era always think everyone gets fired for everything? Here's exactly how this will go: tomorrow someone from PR at Insomniac will email her asking "Hey can you please edit your portfolio to remove that date? It isn't confirmed or public yet" and she'll reply "Oh shit, sorry. Yup, updated"

And that's it.

guess what: most videogame writers have no idea when a game (that they worked on) releases.

What is this obsession.

Obsession?

I am commenting on the leaking of a release date before public announcement by someone in a position to know. In the industry I work for, that kind of thing usually gets someone fired.

Edit;

All of these posts - see above. I'm commenting from personal experience. No need to jump in and be jerks about it.

This place is the worst.

I get people being hyped for this, but it's an absolute nothingburger. This isn't a leak. People copy/paste info with placeholder dates from their internal company listings into their resume/CV all the time. Those dates have way less thought behind them than anything marketing or PR focused. It's just the basic info for the project you're working on. This dev clearly copied it without thinking about it, realized what happened and changed it. It's not an indication of anything.

It was already announced for 2023, and we already know it's not coming in the first half.

Era: "I bet she'll lose her job for this!"

I like how there is a mention of Wolverine Games. implying that they are already working on a sequel for the one that they have yet to release too. Really interesting.
I think you are misreading it. The reason why "games" is plural here is because she is working on SM2 and Wolverine. It would have been the same thing if she said "Title A" and "Title B".

I'm going to probably just edit that first post since you know, I'm the only one that suggested it and I'm getting piled on for it.

But yeah, she edited the page so I'm sure at bare minimum someone reached out and asked for that. In my industry it usually comes with an escort from the building.

This isn't the kind of thing you fire someone for. No need to be dramatic.

Yeah I'm kinda confused by the replies to this. People online constantly talk about how the gaming industry is SUPER STRICT SERIOUS with their big NDAs and confidentiality etc. So leaking of a release window logically seems like a pretty big slip up.

About what I expected, can't wait!

But that's definitely the only AAA release from PS Studios next year then?

A person on the team I work on posted a vague reference to a project and its target release date on LinkedIn, got asked to remove it and fired by the end of the day.

Now, I'm not sure how Insomniac works but I'd imagine maybe less strict given the edit.
