HERO UPDATES
Developer Comments: "The goal of these changes is to slightly reduce the impact of damage falloff on mid-range weapons. While assessing falloff mechanics across the board, weapons intended primarily for close-range combat benefited too greatly from lowering their falloff restrictions. We also normalized a couple of outliers in that Mei had a long-range travel time projectile with falloff applied and Widowmaker's automatic fire did not have any."
GENERAL
Several heroes have received major changes to their damage falloff:
Bastion
Configuration: Sentry and Configuration: Recon - Minimum damage at max range increased from 30% to 50%.
McCree
Peacekeeper - Minimum damage at max range increased from 30% to 50%
Mei
Endothermic Blaster - Removed all damage falloff from her secondary fire projectile
Soldier: 76
Heavy Pulse Rifle - Minimum damage at max range increased from 30% to 50%
Widowmaker
Widow's Kiss - Now has damage falloff applied on her automatic primary fire (50% at max range)

HANZO
"Hanzo's new kit has proven to be a bit too powerful, especially his new Storm Arrows ability. We're lowering the frequency that he can have this ability available to make it more reasonable to play around."
STORM ARROWS
Duration reduced from 6 to 5 seconds
Cooldown increased from 8 to 10 seconds

SOMBRA
"These changes allow Sombra to more easily play as an infiltrator and scout for her team, as well as give her time to pick and choose when to reveal herself to ambush her enemies."

Now lasts indefinitely
No longer can contest objectives while invisible
Movement speed buff decreased from +70% to +50%

All of the matches are a best-of-five maps. Each team will play five matches, and the two teams with the best records will qualify for Blizzcon 2018! All maps are allowed! Each match will begin on a predetermined control map: Nepal, Lijiang Tower, Ilios, or Oasis. Starting with the second map, the loser of the previous map gets to pick the next map.

The next Qualifier begins on September 7th to the 9th in Los Angeles, with host countries United States, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Norway, and Switzerland.

Lúcioball Showdown
Two teams of Lúcios battle to boop a huge ball into an even huger net.
  • Best-of-three series between Atlantic and Pacific divisions
  • Each map is five minutes long
  • Standard Lúcioball settings
6v6 Mystery Heroes
Each time a player respawns, they are assigned a different random hero. Atlantic will face Pacific in a best-of-three series for honor and glory.
  • Control maps only
  • Standard 6v6 Mystery Heroes settings
Widowmaker 1v1
Top Widowmaker players from the Atlantic and Pacific divisions will compete in a 1v1 Headshots Only Elimination bracket.
  • Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches are first to five eliminations.
  • Finals are first to seven eliminations.
Talent Takedown
Atlantic and Pacific Division coaches will draft teams of Overwatch League casters and analysts for a best-of-three series with standard competitive game settings.
  • Players will help cast the match
  • Standard competitive game settings
Lockdown Elimination
The Atlantic Division will face the Pacific Division in a best of three Lockout Elimination series.
  • Lockout Elimination: players do not respawn until the next round begins; the first team to win three rounds wins the map
  • Atlantic and Pacific division coaches will draft each lineup
  • Standard 6v6 settings

As someone who's casual scum, all the frenetic movement, particularly when they go into first person view, makes for an unpleasant viewing experience. I feel like I can't focus.

I hope that this isn't going to be a second tournament of having china be the leagues pity team.

Also, could they just switch the format to being a best of 3? Because these series really get exhausting.

Few things to look for in this group, mainly how Team SK bounces back from OWL, they're compromised almost exclusively by the New York Excelsior roster who dominated regular season and choked in the playoffs getting knocked out in the semifinals. Russia is the third most solid team of the Group, so no surprise they're destroying Hong Kong, their DPS lineup is super strong and might be able to put up a fight against SK.

The team to look forward is definitely Finland, barring their offtank (Zappis), they do legitimately pose a serious threat, all their players are currently in OWL with the support line and DPS' being of very high caliber.

Hong Kong are just clueless, going up against 2 OWL DPS is leaving them outclassed

The rest of Russia are also very, very good. Tonic and Txao are nutty tanks.

Do we really need that, though? Feel news for the OWL offseason are scarce as it is. World Cup will attract few new peeps for sure, but mainly we'll be the same people posting on two threads.
