Geeez are those London prices for real? Can't help but feel like they're still trying to lean pretty hard on winning the year 1 championship in hoping that they've got fans willing to shell out as a result, even if we're a year removed from that and the team's going to look drastically different moving forward.

Surely those spitfire ticket prices are taking the piss. Even if that was a two day pass that is absolutely ridiculous. Surely they won’t sell out unless it is only a sub 2500 venue.

Like I am in the UK when one of the home stands was on and was considering making the trip but~$400 AU for the base ticket (especially if it is one day) is like my mortgage payment for the week.

especially now that they have lost all star players and who knows what their team officially looks like.

So, bit more detailed info on next season's format:

MATCH STRUCTURE
New in 2020, teams will play regular-season matches in a first-to-three format. Each match will open with control, and then teams will play hybrid, assault, and escort in an order that rotates across matches to ensure they are played evenly throughout the season. If a match reaches the fifth map, only control maps will be played until a team gets to three map wins. After every two maps played, teams will get a quick break to strategize.
MAP POOL AND PATCHES

In order to keep the map variety fresh, we’ll be changing out the map pool four times during the season. All control maps will be in play throughout the entire season and each map pool will feature three maps from each of the other game modes. A new map pool will be used for the postseason.

Throughout the season, we expect Overwatch to receive several game patches. Overwatch League matches will take place on the most updated patch, but the rollout of those patches will be somewhat delayed from the actual game to the Overwatch League to ensure we’re able to properly deploy them and provide teams a window to practice on the new patch before they are asked to compete on it.

ALL STAR AND MIDSEASON TOURNAMENT
After Week 12 of the season we’ll take a break for All-Stars festivities—and a new midseason tournament. All-Stars will feature the league’s best players competing in a series of fun game modes. We’re also planning some 1v1 action and another Talent Takedown. Stay tuned for more details. These All-Stars events will have a total prize pool of US $250K, so there’s more than just bragging rights on the line in 2020.

The midseason tournament will feature the top four teams in the league: the top team from each conference and the next best two teams by record from either conference. In order to manage logistical requirements for teams around the world, the teams will qualify based on their record over their first nine matches in the 2020 season. Those teams will play in a single-elimination bracket, with the top seed picking their opening-round opponent.

Prize Pools

Midseason Tournament

  • First place—$500K
  • Second place—$250K
  • Third place—$150K
  • Fourth place—$150K
All-Stars

  • Total prize pool—$250K
POST SEASON

The double-elimination bracket will feature the following eight teams:

  • The two top teams per conference as the top seeds (as determined by record with map differential as the tiebreaker)
  • The next four teams across both conferences as the three to six seeds
  • The two teams that advance from the play-in tournament as the seven and eight seeds

  • First place—$1.5M
  • Second place—$800K
  • Third place—$500K
  • Fourth place—$300K
  • Fifth place—$200K
  • Sixth place —$200K
  • Seventh place—$100K
  • Eighth place—$100K

So we are getting essentially a mid-season play off tournament that is essentially a 1/2 way stage playoff. Was disappointed (but understandable considering the international homestands) that the stage play-offs went away but i will settle for this.

I like that they are keeping essentially the same double-elimination format as this years. It was a great postseason IMO and i love the double elimination format.

I guess I'll just have to wait until the individual tickets go on sale because fuck paying £200 to go to Birmingham. Luckily I have a friend who works at Wembley and he thinks he can get us tickets for free.

Wait...so the midseason tournament is only based off 9 of the 14 first half matches. Bizarre. I get why, but it's still bizarre

I wonder if the top seed gets to host the all star weekend.

Fissure OMEGALUL

I think the only flake worse than him is Mendo. And at least Mendo didn't get permabenched by someone else on his team. Marve One stays winning

So I guess the Defiant won't be looking for a back-up Tank, if "complete the tank lineup" is anything to go by?

DPS: Surefour, Agilities, Logix, Mangachu
Tank: Beast, Nevix
Support: KariV, Kellex, Roky (2-way)

Idk how I feel about there not being some sort of back-up there, if they truly don't go after anyone else. Just don't pull a Team Canada if that happens and put Agilities/Mangachu there lol

It's rough cuz these players are going to be flying everywhere over a long period of time. So what if someone gets sick, or isn't doing so well? Even having just one backup might not be enough... And yes we've seen Mangachu and Agilities sub for xQc in the OWWC but we all saw what happened lol. Plus with the whole two-way, there's the limit amount of matches players can play, plus moving them from the academy to the location. They are going to, which is extra travel time for them, and extra cost. There's tons to consider tbh

WHAAAAAAAAAAAT?

Really curious why Defiant didn't keep Neko. He did great with Kellex back on Uprising. Unless him and Kariv being flex supports was going to be too much but I feel like something could've been worked out. Still, we Defiant fans welcome the S4 fanboys- I mean Sadiators fans- I mean new fans! Haha.

Nice to see Aimgod land somewhere.

Good for AimGod, though it keeps surprising me to see how many Koreans Washington is signing. I guess I just assumed that they would try and tilt things more western after dropping Sansam, Janus, and Gido, and considering all the homestands they're going to be hosting this year. It's kind of weird to look at their roster right now and try to pick out just what their starting lineup is going to be exactly.

As for Toronto, now that all the rumored signings are complete they're kind of talking like this is it for the roster, but I definitely agree that they really ought to sign another tank, even just to have as a backup for emergency situations. I can at least look at the way they're built right now and feel like they shouldn't be in the running for being a bottom 3 team in the league like they were post Stage 1 last year, but it would also be extremely optimistic to claim that they're playoff-bound either. If I can just watch them without feeling extremely bitter like I was during the second half of last year, I'll chalk it up as an improvement.

Vancouver....lol.

he had problem on London and bailed out mid season on two teams and he still somehow get offers? It's not going to end well with Titans either.

So I’m back to Overwatch after 8 months, is it just me or the population is shrinking on PC? I used to find games in less than 2 minutes and yesterday I waited for more than 10 to get to a game.

Depends on what you're doing, if you're trying to play dps it's gonna be high, tank is an instant pop, healer 1-2 mins, just how role queue works. Arcade seems the same as ever.

What did you queue as? I get in games queueing tank in 3 minutes flat on PC if not sooner. It takes about 2-3 minutes to get in a match as Tank on switch too for what it’s worth.

Shame about NLaaer. He's good, just probably not as good as new incoming talent. You could justify keeping him on a weaker team, but Atlanta's going for the Shock approach of building a monstrous lineup. Babybay'll be lucky to play much this season

Taimou posted a Twitlonger

Honestly, I get it, he wants to feel like he's on top again but the dude's fumbled by his own account for 3 years straight and has a history of saying incredibly stupid shit in public. I'm perfectly okay with him disappearing from pro OW for the same reason He Who Shall Not Be Named is gone; there's people who are just as talented who deserve the fame, attention, and success who haven't said racist/sexist shit like Taimou or worse like He Who Shall Not Be Named
