We handicapped ourselves with that switch on Hanamura but goats v goats this is not even fun.

Actually slightly tilted this is not gonna be a 4-0.

Valiant looks like it's a team that should build around their defensive efforts though, I think you have too with Fate, their attacks aren't as aggressive nor decisive and they usually will get rolled or held with ease because of this, several instances where this was the case and it's the reason they didn't even cap B on Eichenwalde even though they destroyed A.

The top 4 teams have a very distinct way of playing the mirror, and that's what the rest of the League lacks.

Blizzard released some info on the Contenders Showdowns and a bit of the Guantlet:

Four regions will send their top teams to the Atlantic Showdown, while the other four regions will send their top teams to the Pacific Showdown. These events will be live during the Overwatch League mid-year break to maximize viewership and player recognition from Overwatch League scouts.

From May 24–26, 2019, top teams from Australia, China, Korea, and the Pacific will face off in an intense double-elimination bracket live in Shanghai.

Teams Invited:

  • Top 1 Australia Season 1
  • Top 2 China Season 1
  • Top 2 Korea Season 1
  • Top 1 Pacific Season 1

Top teams from Europe, North America, and South America will meet in a double-elimination showdown between May 31–June 2 in Krefeld, Germany

Teams Invited:

  • Top 2 Europe Season 1
  • Top 3 North America Season 1
    • Second place from NA West will play second place from NA East in a first-to-4 match to determine the third NA team attending. This match will be broadcasted in the days following the NA Season 1 Finals.
    • The winner of this match will earn their region's 1st place team a BYE into upper round 2. For example, if North America West wins, the 1stplace NA W team will receive the BYE.
      • Top 1 South America Season 1

SPEAKING OF THE GAUNTLET...
The pinnacle of the Contenders season will be the Gauntlet, which will be held from October 9–13 in a location to be announced soon.

Dates: October 9–13, 2019

Location: TBD

Tournament format: Groups to Double Elimination

The Gauntlet's tournament format will emphasize interregional competition for maximum excitement. We've scheduled it after the conclusion of the 2019 Overwatch League season, when teams will once again prepare to sign players for the following season

Can we take a second to talk about these numbers
113 Pledges
$10,584 Est. Total Raised
That's really impressive. The fact that the average pledge works out to be ~$100 is pretty outstanding

Weekly reminder that Mayhem Academy is a better team than Florida Mayhem.

That was BRUTAL on Eichenwalde. Just, complete and utter destruction.

So can we completely nix Florida Mayhem OWL team (minus Saya) for their Academy team. Not only they're infinitely more marketable, but they would easily be a much competitive team than Florida.

Promise was a coach of this team up until the last week of January, he's now on Valiant, btw.

Current headcoach is Curryshot.

Also, lmao Bearhands.

So Boston Uprising lost to Contendies and is indeed the first Academy team that'll be playing trials. Worth pointing out, iostux is the coach of this team :) :)

Suspension should be coming soon.
Warning for extremely offensive language,
https://www.twitch.tv/aspen/clip/PoorRichClipsmomRlyTho

Reddit is saying that that clip isn't YXL and isn't why he's being reprimanded, he's being reprimanded for making comments calling Aspen Ameng's second wife while all three were in the same game. Ameng apologized to Aspen on his behalf after the game and YXL is getting reprimanded for harassment. That's some other random dude(supposedly)

Edit: Another guy is saying that on his weibo YXL clarified that he was trying to mess with Ameng by telling Aspen she was Ameng's second favorite waifu but a lack of English skills plus a different connotation/usage in Chinese for waifu absolutely botched it. Even then it's still ehhhhh but at least it's less weird. It's about as weird as Fareeha doing the same thing to Geguri repeatedly. Chengdu has also gone on Twitter to state that the guy dropping slurs is not YXL.

Yeah, Chengdu just confirmed on twitter that the Aspen clip with slurs isn't the one the fines are for.

Nice when teams reprimand their own players without being forced by the league to do so. Though we don't know whether that's entirely true. We can't see behind the scenes

There was a part 2 to it all in that later YXL and Aspen ended up in the same game again without Ameng. YXL said Ameng wouldn't queue with him for saying what he was thinking out loud. And apparently Aspen thought he was SBB the entire time. So YXL apologized to Aspen, Ameng, and SBB for making a mess and dragging them into it. Doubling down on your lameass joke that can be taken as harassment is pretty shitty.

Been watching this. Really wish I could donate but this has been fun to watch so far. Happy for Contendies making it to Playoffs. Their last match was so good.

As for the YXL thing, that's crazy situation. I don't think he intentionally mean it as harassment (at least I'd hope not) and he seems to have apologized to all. Still uncalled for but I'm willing to see it as a language mix up. Hopefully it stops there.

Oh man, I completely missed the charity stream, I'll give some subs to Harb when he's on.

The proceeds go to help patients with pancreatic cancer, which is what Harbleus dad had when he passed away.
