We don't know, his name was leaked during the role queue update the other day. He's never been mentioned before.

Sigma is the former leader of the Reploid forces. After a fight with a Maverick named Zero, a virus caused his and Sigma's alignments to change, corrupting Sigma and turning Zero to the side of good. This virus eventually became known as the Sigma Virus, corrupting various reploids as Sigma recruited more Mavericks to his side.

People are speculating that Sigma is blind and his kit might indeed be sound based.
It wasn't through Twitter, it was in the role queue news post on playoverwatch.com and team Mexico put it into their tweet without knowing it.

Well Blizzard has never been all that good at story writing but they make compelling worlds with strong character design so they get a pass.

Well it was mostly cause the new short video shows that he's a subject.
So definitely not a scientist lol.
Someone on reddit posted that Sigma will probably be blind and focused more on sounds and hearing, which make sense because in that leaked portrait his eyes are closed. But at the same time i doubt it because there are deaf ppl playing this game so that's probably not possible.
Can i ask why? He already looks pretty interesting to me. I really like these little teasers.
Yeah, the piano into the alarm for the most recent teaser is pretty creepy and actually makes me think of something like 999 or Danganronpa instead of Overwatch. I dig the vibe.
Mostly because they are teasing another nobody. I especially hate it when they reveal a character that looks and sounds cool....but is regulated to be a background NPC or becomes a one-off.
