This is blowing up here in Belgium and UK but I guess it's a global thing:
Oxfam Higher ils has been throwing sex parties in Haiti and Tchad with potentially underage girls.
The organisation covered up the scandal allowing those people to get other position in other charities.

The article that started it all:(paywall)

Oxfam failed to warn aid agencies about staff caught using prostitutes in earthquake-torn Haiti, allowing them to take jobs among vulnerable people in other disaster zones.

That's a really vile and disgusting story:
- People using fundraised money to hire prostitute and probably people that are in no position to chose: refugee, earthquake victims,etc...
- Higher ups covering for them allowing those people to get other jobs with the same environment.
- public money embezzlement.

Also disgusting is right wing media using it to discredit the whole work of every NGO under the sun.

Really shows how charties are going from volunteers to just being multi billion pound brands for a board to manage for a fee.

I read that there was an internal investigation and the underage accusation was proven false.

Its a sh*t show with the UK government threatening to pull funding unless proper investigations etc are carried out.

Oxfam do some amazing work, its very annoying to see a few people abuse their position in these needy areas for sexual gratification and while Oxfam should have done something more meaningful at the time, (not cover it up) and been more transparent with the world as to what happened, even if the UK government are happy with the report and keep funding they will be at risk of losing funding from the public.

Oxfam fucked up when they decided to cover the backs of their paedophilic aid workers, but what I hate the most in this is them losing funding, money that is meant to go to the poorest in the world will be taken away.
