Well I do, hence my post. Not because I'm sad the man is dead, but because it breaches the integrity of a moral system that acknowledges murder as wrong, and that's exactly what capital punishment is: murder, just justified for reasons already stated.

I'm not tone policing anything. People are free to express how they feel about the situation, and I'm not trying to take that away from them.

And let's be clear, what this monster did is repulsive, unconscionable, and supremely immoral. But I do not condone murder for any reason and will not do so in this case either.
You jumped into the thread with your only take being "hey people who support the death of a man who inflicted unimaginable pain on hundreds of innocent children, don't think you've got the moral high ground here!"

People are having a visceral reaction to a horrific story and you're tut tutting them for it. Think on that.

I came into this thread to quote/concur with a very level headed take on this situation and also to contribute to that perspective. Stop trying to make my post out to be something that it's not.

Also this, I've always found it interesting that there are rules.
Someone may have already replied to you but I just wanted to say that prison is it’s own society so the existence of these kind of rules comes naturally. If you’ve never seen a prison documentary I would highly recommend doing so. Prison society is incredibly fascinating (and sad).

Also, good riddance, rest in piss etc. I feel bad for pedos who don’t act on their urges and I hope one day that legitimate ways of helping them come about. Any who act upon those urges can fuck right off of this planet though.

I have and these things are well documented. It's still interesting because it goes against what a lot of people would think is common logic of "criminals going to be criminals" since some people lump them all into the same group and do not value the context or severity of what they're done at all.

Not gonna pretend I will cry for this guy or that he didn’t deserve that and more, but it’s not a good thing overall that society can’t protect people who are incarcerated.

I paraphrased but that's pretty much what you said. It is what it is.
I don't think this argument is going to be very productive and I don't want to derail the thread so I'm going to drop the conversation, but suffice to say that my post wasn't about "tut-tutting" posters here but contributing to a moral perspective other than what the general consensus has offered at this point.

Why is murder in quotations it's common knowledge that prisoners hate pedophiles because duh

Im not implying prisoners aren't people like everyone else and tends to just be people who had lives forcing them to do crimes but doing horrible stuff to kids tends to be really unpopular

I would be careful linking this murder to some moral code of prisoners, that prison has some right evil fuckers in it.

"One eye" is in there and he's in for throwing hand grenades at people and murdering a policewoman he called out on a hoax call.

It's not good that we can't protect people who are in prison, really not good. But the silver lining is that it couldn't have happened to a bigger cunt. Reading what he did, what a piece of shit. You just don't think people like that could exist but suddenly you're reminded they can.

Yeah, this guy was definitely one of the most evil people I've ever heard about. No tears will be shed for his loss of life, that's for sure.

Justice totally is about people receiving a just punishment though
It depends on what you expect from justice.
if you're focusing on the accused part of the system, it's about punishment.
If it's about the victims, then justice is more about finding ways for victims to cope with issues.
And then there's the fact that justice has to act as a deterrent or a way of making sure society is not just a savage land where the mightiest are right because they're mighty.

I think if we're not going to adopt a prison system that actually tries to rehabilitate prisoners regardless of their crime then we shouldn't try to maintain the pretence that it's anything other than a place where we put people in danger as a punishment for their atrocities, and as a society we're mostly okay with that.

I'll never believe in corporal punishment/death sentences but I'll never be sad when someone who is proven beyond a doubt to have committed atrocities like these is murdered in the prison system. At the end of the day, we could never truly 'punish' one person for the crimes this individual inflicted on hundreds of innocents, not even the most creative forms of torture one could dream up could match the evil dealt out to dozens. There really are no winners or good outcomes when it comes to crimes like these, other than trying to get the best care to the victims possible.
This is a good read on it. For violent and sexual crimes like this, nothing can really be done to the offender to make the victims whole, and the only purpose of jail is to prevent the offender from harming others, and maybe to rehabilitate the offender if the nature of their crimes makes it possible (which in this case... no).

I think we should definitely revise the justice system to avoid jail for everything but violent crimes, sex crimes, and repeat offenders for nonviolent crimes, people who have proven that society is not safe with them free. But in cases where someone is irredeemable, there are no good answers. It is not incumbent on the state to kill them and turning a blind eye to inmate-on-inmate violence is not morally viable, but the question of what an irredeemable offender's life deserves to look like is one that's very difficult to parse.

While I don't condone the murder of inmates, regardless of their crimes, I don't find this one worth mourning. I can only hope that this gives his victims some sort of closure.

I feel bad for this dude's parents because I don't think you can ever get away from the torment of wondering what went wrong. I feel bad for the parents or caretakers of the kids who may have some fleeting memory or physical damage from his crimes.

Unfortunately, this isn't really the focus of some criminal justice systems, even though, in my opinion, it should be. I feel so bad for the victims and the families of the victims. I can't imagine going through something like that. It's just not fair.

I agree, I'm just saying that the punishment to the offender is not a part of that healing, aside from removing them from society. The lifelong healing efforts needed for victims would be a separate matter and should be rolled into health care policy for general support for mental/physical trauma victims.

I regret he was murdered. Am I glad he is dead.

I wonder how this will effect his victims? They will never get to confront him now. For those that heal through that process, whoever killed him just took that option off the table.

Oh I agree with that, though you can't really begin the healing process if there is no accountability for crimes perpetrated against the victim, so the two issues are intertwined to a degree.

Child abuse, especially sexual, is up there with the most despicable of all crimes and one of the only ones I'd support the death penalty on.

I do not feel sorry for this monsters death and I hope he suffered for what he did to those kids.

Some things everyone can agree on.
obviously not everyone agrees.

He shouldn't have been murder under the watch of the prison guards regardless of what they did i hope the murder gets a larger sentence and they get to the bottom of how this was allowed to happen and the people that made mistakes (if there were any) receive repercussions.

He won't be missed. Shame there's nothing after death to bring justice. But at least he's not earth's problem any more.

So the guy that murdered him is also a sex offender, wonder if he did it to win over people who were gunning for him previously

Pedophilia appears to be some form of developmental abnormality. MRI's suggest malformations of various parts of the brain. Offenders also seem to have less inhibition control (although that may not be surprising since most if not all studies are of those individuals who offend and get caught, and if you offend you've exhibited a lack of inhibition). It's essentially an illness which has horrible effects on innocents. Understanding this, while I find the whole thing deeply disturbing and vile, I really can't get onboard with the whole "oh well" shit happens whenever something like this happens. These people might be sick bastards, but they're also sick bastards if you get what I mean.
Isn't this all the more reason to be put down?

Still doesn't deserve to get murdered in prison. Thats a failure of the state.
I agree, he did deserve worse probably.

Death is just too quick.

If this was already a place where they stored all their rotten eggs as is being reported they probably aren't too interested in paying attention to things unfortunately.
