After the storm that was raised last week with the launch of 'Far Cry 5' it's all quiet this week as no new entries make it in to the Top 40. 'Far Cry 5' retains top spot.

There is also no change at No2 and No3 as 'FIFA 18' and 'Sea of Thieves' are both non-movers. The price drop on 'Forza Motorsport 7' continues to push it back up the chart, accelerating from No9 to No4 this week. Outside the Top 10, a retail promotion on 'Star Wars Battlefront II' has it re-enter the Top 40 at No16.

Far Cry 5 doing well, will probably chart number one till the release of God of War. Does anyone have the drop percentage for the previous Far Cry games?

Always seems to be a lot of movement in the charts. Due to price sensitivity.
but it also makes me wonder how big of a difference there is in units, if games shift that much.

Wonder how long before Kirby drops below M+R. That game seems to be a new evergreen. 3-4m will be easy, when it was first thought of as impossible.

March 2018 was a tough one for the UK games market, as the number of games sold slumped 18% year-on-year to 1.37m copies.

Revenue plunged even further, down 24.7% compared with March 2017. In total, £44.4m was generated from boxed game sales.

March last year was a big one. Not only did it see the launch of Switch - alongside The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - but also saw the success of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Mass Effect Andromeda.

This year was comparatively disappointing. But there is clearly demand for big games, as proven by this month's best-seller: Far Cry 5. It's the second year in a row that Ubisoft had the biggest selling game of March.

Far Cry 5 was only on the market for a week when these numbers were counted, but it was comfortably the best-selling title of the month. It sold four times the number of second place FIFA 18.

The second best-selling new game in the charts is Sea of Thieves at No.4. The Xbox exclusive performed strongly in a box, but PC sales are not included. Nor are those that have accessed the game from Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass offering.

Seems like Xbox one X, Gamepass, PUBG and Sea of Thieves have turn the tide in UK.
What a comeback for Rare!

Yeah this isn't surprising. 2017 was exceptional but this year has definitely been rough. Good for SoT and FC5 tho.

Not really.

It's the first month of decline this year. The first two months of 2018 were up over the comparative period in 2017. This is primarily due to Nintendo Switch, which was not on the market during January and February last year, and its games have been selling significantly (particularly compared with Nintendo's previous Wii U machine).

There have been plenty of sales hits already this year, so i wouldn't call it rough.

I was referring specifically to March there with 'rough' as the article is, sorry if that wasn't clear.

Though I still dispute your point overall as the article also does. What were the 'plenty of sales hits'? The article states that the Switch and its 2017 evergreens are in all probability the only reason for a lack of Jan/Feb decline.

Don't you think your embellishing just a bit, the article never stated that.
In what world has a tide been turned, and what tide exactly?.
These posts are amazing, people really have no clue what they're talking about.
Turn the tide??
Well, 3500 copies this week for SOT is OK, i guess. Never thought that FM7 would be cheaper than GTS one day ( just copy/paste ).
You three all fell for agent wapplew. His double agent who really a Sony fan. His in so deep he forgetten what fake and what is reality.

Three MS titles in the UK top 5, holy crap who'd have thunk just a few months ago.

I do wonder whether UK slumping is a bit more systemic than just a poor lineup.

Ni No Kuni 2 out of the all formats chart and barely hanging on in individual one in its third week. I'm not sure how 'leggy' the first one was as a comparison but taken in isolation I don't think NNK2 has performed too well.

After 9 months Crash at #10. I bet that Crash (including Switch and Xbox One version) will be in Top 10 for whole 2018. just like last year.

You could sell retail Windows 10 games if you want. They'd just be digital codes for the Play Anywhere games tho. No disc.

Lake Titicaca
Xbox had a pretty successful week.

Funny how Detective Pikachu got that minor boost during its second week and now it's nowhere to be seen. Would never have expected a Pokemon spin-off to bomb so hard.

Individual formats by value (the chart type that we get from France) is fairly interesting to compare against all format by units, price drops really makes a difference:

Monster Hunter World, SotC, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Far Cry 5. That´s not bad for 3 month and let´s not forget, digtal isn´t included in these numbers.

That march can´t compete with last year should be self evident.

Ubisoft still holds onto the top spot in the UK charts this week with Far Cry 5.

The shooter saw a 69 per cent drop in sales over the course of its second week - fairly standard for AAA games post-launch - but a lack of new releases meant there was nothing to dethrone Ubisot's latest blockbuster as the best-selling game of the week.

In fact, there were no new entries anywhere in the Top 40, and no changes at No.2 and No.3. FIFA 18 is still in second, despite a 26 per cent sales drop week-on-week, followed by the Xbox exclusive Sea of Thieves, which sold 32 per cent less copies this week

On individual charts there are 4 Xbox One games in Top 5.

I think that just means that sales are dipping so bundled software will appear higher in the charts. It really just shows how quiet things are at the moment, though may give a hint at how hardware is selling. Gran Turismo Sport up to no. 10 as well, another commonly bundled game.

that might be good for God of war in 10 days. its really quiet in UK . a big release is needed to shake up the chart .
