Crazy good hold by GoW. I'm guessing the short first week led trickled over into the second week.

God of War is impressive, Sea of Thieves is holding well. Is it because of bundles?

I don't understand these comments. Sea of Thieves dropped from 11th place to 17th place, and I would guess that we're well into the 4-digit sales number territory at this point.

Far Cry and Sea of Thieves were releases 1 month earlier, so it wasn't direct competion for God of War.

The only major releases were Kirby and Yakuza, not really big competition there.

And Labo ? Come on now...

Labo outsold GOW in Japan, France is the second biggest market when it comes to Japanese consumption and the switch is massively popular over there.

I mean I have no idea if Labo will be a success in France but let's not make it sound like I'm reaching.

Great hold for GOW. Predictable drop for Yakuza - fairly certain the same drop was seen when 0 and Kiwami were released, and I'm fairly certain the same happened for Persona 5 as well. Seems like the fanbase turned out for the launch, and now they have their copy its dropped off almost entirely. Hopefully Kiwami 2 does well in August.

Come on now : Labo is not competing with God of War ! NOBODY is going in a shop and being torn between the choice of going for Labo or God of War...

Labo is not for the traditional gamer audience, it's a casual experience ! It's not a even a damned game ! It's like saying I'm torn between watching the NBA playoffs and Darts...

Persona 5 actually went completely out of stock, and that's why it dropped straight out of the top 40. Its drop must have been even larger due to this: it went from >15k to out of top 40, while Yakuza 6 went from <7k to 39th in the same approximate time of the year.

Ah yes, good point. I'd forgot that happened!

I'm pretty sure I started my post with how Labo actually did well in one market, being Japan, and how France is a very particular market because of their love for Japanese products AND the Switch being a huge success there (to the point that you often have up to 4 Switch game in the top5 weekly).
Oh and it will also be GOW's second week.

But hey, keep the analogies coming...

No Amazon pre-orders and then selling as normal once released has definitely played into that small drop for GoW in part. That and it being an amazing game with impeccable WOM.

Doesn't matter what you think, we see it week after week that 3 different titles (Super Mario Odyssey, Zelda Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) are charting really high so they can be considered THE Nintendo Switch games.
It's not about what I think, by definition, only one title can hold that distinction.

Out of context the GOW drop is decent, but in context I really get worried about its legs. The week it released, the lovely weather meant even the Pokemon Centres were closed but that was not the case last week. Hope it continues to do well.

At first Yakuza 6 looks like it's bombing hard but neither 0 or Kiwami managed to stay in the top 40 for more than a week so in that regards it feels like a success.

The fact that it's turned up in the other charts bodes well for it's European sales overall. It's still a relatively niche franchise but considering where it was during the PlayStation 3 era to now, this is a massive upswing in the franchise's success. Hopefully series can push on more in future.

Oh that's better. It look like God of War will track better than Horizon. That a job well done by Sony to make the game more appealing to RoTW outside North America.

What's nonsense? God of War losing launch week sales to a buggy early access game while also having more PS4 users to sell too. You would think the mascot for PlayStation would pull in the big numbers.

Horizon has sold like 8 million copies and I think it sold less than NMS in its first week in the UK too. Pretty silly post.
