We have a further 2 new entries in The Top 10 with Sega's 'Yakuza Kiwami 2' debuting in at No5 and Capcom's new Switch only title 'Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate' coming in at No9. Sony's new PSVR title 'Firewall Zero Hour' doesn't quite make the Top 10 as it debuts at No11, while Rebellion's 'Strange Brigade' and Bandai Namco's 'Divinity Original Sin II: Definitive Edition' come in at No16 and No23 respectively in their debut weeks.

Pretty big drop for Shenmue there, but I guess that was to be expected. God of War is still in the Top 10 which is mighty impressive.

Damn at the Shenmue collapse. And Pro Evo sales can't be great. Or well, any of the new releases for that matter.

Looks like Zelda and Odyssey are finally starting to slip down the charts. I suppose they may come back as we start getting closer to Christmas.

The ranking is great for Yakuza Kiwami 2, hopefully it translate to good sales. Firewall Zero Hour looks good too despite being a VR-only title with aim bundling on some. MonHun is doing alright given that MHW exist and UK.

DOS 2: DE though :(

doesn't bode well that PES couldn't topple F1. Hopefully it's a good number for Yakuza.

Pro Evo & Monster Hunter both did worse then I expected.

FiFa 18 doing well considering new version is out less than a month

Konami need to up their marketing with PES. I've spoken to people who didn't even know it was being made anymore. It deserves better sales.

Glad to see Yakuza charting high, beats the days of it either not charting or barely charting at all.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 so low breaks my heart.

If you find those games too hard but really love story and characters, like me, you should get this. You can play this on a new difficulty mode that is called "story", which is really, really easy.

It has a shitton of great content, up to 100h+ so don't be concerned about it's pricetag a year after release. Though I have to say, this game should have been released early August.

Kids back to school this week in the UK and August is usually a killer on the bank balance. I checked my bank balance and can confirm.

Sad to see Divinity so low, the publisher should've given the console versions a bigger push.

It's actually a miracle it's still in the top40. I predicted a similar situation to Yakuza games - the sales from week 1 coming almost entirely from fans of the series (meaning there wouldn't be enough of them left in week 2).

Damn...PES really fell off big time.

MHGU performance seems okay in a post MHW world. UK is one of the markets where MHW left the charts relateivly quick as well...and you can get the game for quite cheap on PS4/Xbox already and it was part of big XBL sales....expecting MH Generations to set the world on fire at this stage is a bit much.

Nice to see Yakuza in the Top 5.

There was no marketing for this game whatsoever, at least where I'm from.
Yeah but so was Yakuza although it's getting good WOM lately and Firewall Zero which is a niche platform. CRPG isn't doing so good on consoles recently, I hope they still release them though.
I did my part and got DOS2 (PS4) and upcoming PoE (PC and PS4)

I added a poll, I will be doing it every now and then when there is any release worth predicting. The problem though is that we now get less data than before and there will probably be times when we can't get an accurate enough estimate.

120-150k would be an amazing achievement for Spiderman, and lol at PES not even getting number one on launch week.

When it comes to Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate we can guesstimate at least a 50% drop over Monster Hunter Generations released on Nintendo 3DS.

Monster Hunter Generations sold over 8,000 units while a title in 9th spot in a quiet week is usually around 4,000 range.

Another way to look at it (and that's probably part of the reasoning from Capcom) is that the incredible success of Monster Hunter World could/should have helped to ignite and push the reception of Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, as there is a lot of poeple who plays only on Switch or at least consider that the Switch "is perfect" for pretty much every game announced on it. I guess the previous Monster Hunter never did anything special on the UK anyway, it will be more interesting to see the reception in France and USA. The last MH on 3DS did something like 160K or 190k in the US, can't remember exactly.

Yeah I think the next few weeks will be soft because of this, kids going back to school and it's set to be hot againin the next week or so. I think spidey might be softer than people expect.

I know next week is all about Spider-Man but I still hope to see something good about Dragon Quest XI.

Bruno MB, do you have something about the best UK Dragon Quest launches in your archives ? Would that be Dragon Quest 8 or maybe Dragon Quest 9 ?

The audience that would have picked it up on Switch is for the most part the audience that already played it on 3DS or had access to a system playing MHW...all things considered the game should do fine, its not like they arent selling any copies. But at the end of the day its a full priced title based on a 2 year 3DS game release after Monster Hunter World - the game you can get for half the price.

We always knew that Capcom was to sacrifice MH XX sales potential in the west, so that they could focus on MHW...and thats exactly what happened. Generations Ultimate was always going to head to the west....MHW performance has nothing to do with it. We also received the Wii and 3DS games without the series having to sell +10m.

This makes me remember about the NPD report from July, did anyone ever asked about the lack of Jurassic World Evolution in the top 20 ? I mean sure it's not an action game but it was such a slow month and the release was close to the new movie. Here it is in Germany, the biggest new release of the month.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies debuted selling 14,500 units, and it was one of the rare cases to have an increase in sales in its second week (+27%).

I don't have data for Dragon Quest: The Journey of the Cursed King but it debuted at No19, which suggests that it had a worse launch.

[Week 29, 2010] 09 (NE) DRAGON QUEST IX: SENTINELS OF THE STARRY SKIES (NINTENDO) - 14,500 / NEW
[Week 30, 2010] 07 (09) DRAGON QUEST IX: SENTINELS OF THE STARRY SKIES (NINTENDO) - 18,500 / 33,000 (+27%)

If i remember correctly Capcom didn't intend to bring the game in the west in the first place, they did it because people asked for it, so Capcom probably have next to none reasoning about the game.
And it's still a upresed 3DS game here, and one with next to no advertising, so targetting really motivated MH players, so i don't really see how the game could do anything impressive.

That's actually better than what I would've imagined for DQ in the U.K. Worth always remembering of course that this was on the beast that was the DS- albeit not a typical game that people bought the DS en masse for.

If the PS4 DQ can match that 33k in 2 weeks at worst then I'd say that's a good result.

Or alternatively it's the first major release for quite some time. Spidey is a hyped, big game with some nice marketing behind it. I can't see it landing softer than anticipated (if your anticipations aren't ridiculous that is).

Yakuza has carved out it's niche though.
While DOS 2 doesn't even seem to be on the radar of most reviewers. The game is sitting at a measly 20 critics on Metacritic days after launch.
I certainly don't expect a massive marketing campaign for the game but something clearly wen't horribly wrong here.

That means Kiwami 2 had a better opening than Y6? If I remember correctly Y6 was around 5k.

Given the overzealous demand for portable MH you would expect a higher debut for MHGU.
While this game was always dead because of being a 3DS game and the west not caring about portability (this matters to Japan mostly), Nintendo didn't even promote it -- it didn't even get revealed in a Direct. It was always going to do bad.

I think that's bad for MHGU, unless it hangs about in the charts which I don't expect it to.
