DQXI did okay considering UK trends, it's close enough to the upper tier JRPGs and will undoubtedly do much better in France, Spain, etc. Hopefully it can also come closish to DQIX in NPD which was 132k in about a week of tracking iirc. I still think those Steamspy numbers are still disappointing though (50-100k global), SE would've probably been better off doing a day one Xbox port instead and saving Steam for a later GOTY or budget release to really maximize sales at a more appropiate price point for that platform. Even still I think this will be a million seller in the west for sure and probably close out somewhere above the current series champ (DQIX at 1.12m shipped), plus there's the later Switch version that Nintendo will no doubt push themselves.

Likewise it seems MHGU is doing a lot better outside the UK (so far France, Spain, Italy, AU). If it does close to Gen in NPD (165k), it should also probably manage platinum status in the west this year, putting global MHGU (3DS+Switch) figures around 3m. Not bad for a too late 3DS port really.

Not bad for DQ considering it's a year late got no advertising and SE seems to be focusing on TR for September. RPGs are preferrably played on the go so this is a great result since this release leaves you tethered to your TV. It out sold every game this week not named Spiderman. I'm sure this game is meeting Square's expectations. Also console gamers haven't had a mainline DQ for two generations so that audience hasn't been cultivated and nurtured on consoles. It's surprising that DQ11 was able to match the previous game considering all this.

RPG's are best played on the go?? Wtf lol

To me all games are best played on a big ass OLED TV, with a 5.1 surround system.

When I'm outside my home I'm either working, driving, enjoying my time with my friends or doing other stuff...not playing games

For people that has to share his home with other people and has limited acces to a nice setup the portability of the switch is a good option, but that doesn't make it better..

And why RPG's, exactly? Too long or what'' the reasoning there?

Freaking hate playing RPG on the Go.

Whilst I think Tomb Raider could clinch no.1 overall next week (barring a complete disaster), there probably won't be much in it and therefore Spidey will still best it individually (if it holds out the usual Friday drop).

Also it'll be interesting to see the TR split of formats. I'd imagine this one will be quite a bit closer than usual ratios.

Germany August 2018: https://www.bild.de/spiele/spiele-n...t-in-den-bild-games-charts-56519238.bild.html

1. (neu) "F1 2018"
2. (8.) "Mario Kart 8"
3. (6.) "GTA V"
4. (neu) "Madden NFL 2019"
5. (7.) "Minecraft"
6. (13.) "Super Mario Odyssey"
7. (1.) "FIFA 18"
8. (4.) "Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker"
9. (3.) "Mario Tennis Aces"
10. (12.) "Far Cry 5"

Seems like Toad will over a million. Switch should do it by itself

Evergreen month.

3 months in the top 10 in a row for Mario Tennis Aces is impressive.

Game sold a lot.
Aces will do 4m easy

Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 barely made it into the top 20, really pathetic.

I think Marvel's Spider-Man has the first spot locked next week unless Shadow of the Tomb Raider surprises us.

Surely if it's a usual 70% Friday drop for Spidey then that would put it in the 57k region. TR selling less than that on PS4 and Xbox would be shockingly bad (but I guess not completely out of the realms of possibility). Spidey should be no.1 individually fair enough.

Friday release usually have a shallower drop usually 50%. God of War had like a 35% drop.

How much are you expecting for SoTR's FW sales, bruno?

It is hard to tell, I voted between 50,000 - 75,000 units and thinking in a figure closer to 50,000 than to 75,000.

Rise of the Tomb Raider debuted selling around 70,000 units on Xbox One (week 45, 2015) and PlayStation 4 (week 41, 2016). The game was first released on Xbox One with Microsoft marketing behind it that helped the game to have a bigger launch than if it had been released along with PlayStation 4 version. The question is whether that helped to cultivate an audience or not, also Xbox One hasn't had a big release like Marvel's Spider-Man. In my opinion I am seeing a notable drop regardless of these factors.

PlayStation 4 will be the leading sku of course and UK is Tomb Raider's home market but even so I don't expect much.

I voted for the 50-75K range for Tomb Raider but I guess that top spot really depends on Spider-Man's hold more than anything.

Hmm, I see no Nintendo stuff in there... I guess it's because the company is not part of this list:

Participating companies in the GSD charts (run by B2boost on behalf of ISFE) are Activision Blizzard, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Codemasters, EA, Focus Home Interactive, Koch Media, Microsoft, Milestone, Paradox, Sega, Sony, Square Enix, Take-Two, Ubisoft and Warner Bros.

or am I missing something?

Multiplattform games will always have it easier in these charts, add in the missing digital numbers and a simple sale on on PSN or XBL can result in a game charting for the specific weeks.

PS: MH Generations Ultimate is in those charts though and Nintendo games have been featured in the last couple weeks....so nothing to worry about.

Nintendo are juste not giving eshop numbers, in week 35 there are simply No Nintendo games in top 10 (I guess Mario Kart is 11 or not far)

Octopath Traveller sold 11.7k in its first week in Spain, so 10k for DQXI isn't a bad result given the awful release date and Square Enix's nonexistent marketing.

Given past JRPG releases on PS4 it is good :

- Kingdom Hearts HD I.5 + II.5 Remix : 9 500
- Ni No Kuni 2 : 8 000
- Nier Automata : 3 700
- Secret of Mana : 2 600

Dragon Quest XI PS4 + Steam should not have any trouble outselling Dragon Quest VIII and IX in the West.
