Nintendo kinda ruled this Summer.

Now things will get very interesting this month. Exciting stuff.

Spyro on Switch did alright it seems. Wasn't really expecting big numbers for MHWI since I'd imagine people will just buy it as an expansion as I have.

I wonder why Astral Chain performed so differently in different countries. Best selling game of the month in Spain but not even in the top 20 in Germany.

It's just more popular in Spain and the charts list individual SKU while German charts lumps Multiplattform game together....so exclusives will always have a more difficult time charting compared to France/Spain.

That's a very good point about all format vs. individual format. I missed that.

Hm I was hoping for the 200k for Mario Maker 2 in August. I guess we will have to wait for September.

Same. It's a shame it wasn't as good as Until Dawn, but price certainly helped.

I'll play the next installment, with expectations in check

I thought it was a lot better for my experience, but that's mostly down to PC frame rates and online co-op with a friend being an amazing feature. The story was probably slightly worse, but the other things around it made me love it

1. Thank fuck GTAV got dethroned
2. Happy to see Control charting here
3. With digital I wouldn't be surprised if Astral Chain was EMEEA #1, would be amazing if true

Best part was playing it local co-op with a friend, but we did the same with Until Dawn , we divided the characters up and then we would be passing the controller around :P

Until Dawn was better imo, game was longer, story and protagonists more engaging, and didn't have the technical issues Man of Medan has.

But you know, it worked perfectly as a one night experience

I prefer a better replayability than a longer game. Yes, Until Dawn was longer, but some characters couldn't die before the chapter 9, even if you did all wrong choices and missed all QTE. In Man of Medan, everyone can die at any moment and the story will continue.

About technical issues, it's only true on PlayStation 4 (and maybe on Xbox One). On PC, the game is almost perfect for this (there is only two collectibles that have bugs).

....mk8 number 8 on digital sales? i must be reading something wrong. no way nintendo provides digital just for one random country's data
You are right. I checked again and IGEA has fixed the digital chart of Australia. My previous post has now the correct version... maybe :-)

Australia and New Zealand leaned quite heavily on the Xbox 360 back in the day so, what's up with the low Gears 5 ranking? Looks like Spyro the Dragon on the Switch sold more copies...

I'm really liking the success of 'Wreakfest', which proves that folks still like a Destruction Derby style game!

Nintendo kinda ruled this Summer.

They certainly did, and seemingly all over the world too.

Pleased to see the Switch doing well — I am (secretly) hoping that Nintendo focusses on just one system in the foreseeable future, instead of trying to spread everything out between two very different formats.

Man of Medan is sure the surprise hit of the month it was supposed to be the more probable flop of the new releases and is found very great almost better than the other releases. The gem even got lower scores in reviews that the others. I think Quantic Dream revived the genre.

Its boxed only and it runs until september 8. So only Ultimate edition is counted.

Remember when they told us in 2018 we would get digital sales in 2019? A few months to go till 2020 and still no sign of digital sales -_-

What number did Gears 4 do? 1/4 of that is terrible and shows GP eating sales and/or people are over the franchise, even the Borderlands 3 numbers isn't good, digital will make a good chunk of that drop sure but you'd think there will be growth and not decline.

We get it sometimes. But yeah. Its kinda "pointless" to talk about alot of games now with only boxes sales.
Did we get UK-only digital sales anytime this year? IIRC gamesindustry has published only EMEAA charts in 2019, and these combine retail and digital sales from different european countries.
So, Borderlands 3 at retail should be between 70k (Days Gone FW) and 80k (half Borderlands 2 FW).

Also: eFootball PES 2020 FW > PES 2019

Gears 4 was pretty low if I remember rightly for the franchise. Something like 60-80k region?

Gears 5 with a quarter of the sales of Gears of War 4? Ouch. Sure it's on Game Pass but still so was a game like Forza Horizon 4 which still sold well at retail.

So searching the old forum, it looks like Gears 4 was estimated between 55k and 105k which was already a drop from the 323k of 3, this put 5 between ~14k and ~27k.

A quarter?

Ok so we need the Gears 4 launch number to see what this game did at retail.

Pretty sure estimates had it selling just above 80k. So around 20k physical copies. I think even with digital it will be down. I think this is the first example of Gamepass negative effecting gaming sales.

Well with a digital ratio about 70% (according analyst) and game pass, the drop of phisical copies was expected.

Benji predicted 70% digital. That doesn't mean it achieved that.

Edit. Then again you might be closer to the truth. I forgot about gears releasing on PC too. So digital will be North of 50% easily. But 70% I don't know.
