GT looking like it will be lucky to hit 2 million ww this year, but I suppose hardware bundles might get it there.

Gran Turismo Sport is paying the price for no single-player campaign. Especially for a franchise where that was historically the main focus. It's a shame Project Cars 2 didn't sell more copies, the amount of content in that game puts GTS to shame.

I will consider buying Gran Turismo 7 if they apologise for GTS and make a proper title.

The reviews on Amazon UK weren't impressed, here's a review photo:

That's an amazing launch for Super Mario Odyssey in Spain, in a few weeks it will have outsold Super Mario 3D World lifetime sales.

And very good launch for Assassin's Creed Origins, it is performing notably better than Syndicate.

Gran Turismo Sport is struggling though, I figure out it will be a heavily bundled title. Hard bundles aren't tracked by GfK.

So the Mario bundles aren't counted?

That franchise mismanagement, my god.

Maybe when GT7 comes out on PS4 a year after the PS5 has launched, Sony might decide to do something about PD.

Lmao.

What a turnaround from 4 years ago when Mario was doomed because Knack was forced onto so many people that didn't know what they were getting into and now it's curbstomping the first flipping GT game on PS4 in most territories.

Never count Nintendo out basically.

Nothing really surprising here. Mario is always strong on Nintendo consoles. GT is a declining franchise.
New Super Mario Bros. U and Super Mario 3D World sold moreon the tiny 13.56M WiiU user-base than GT6on the PS3.

If Sony cares at all about GT anymore (big IF), I think a somewhat easy move (relatively speaking) would be to re-release GT Sports as GT7 alongside the PS5 in 2019, with a full single player campaign, and all the tracks and (most) car dlc included with 4k assets.

I mean sure, but in specific relation to 3D Mario that too is still declining, the series peaked with Galaxy 10 years ago and Galaxy 2 and 3D World both sold less than their predecessors (you can debate the merits of including the cheap handheld 3D Land I suppose) we'll have to wait and see for sure if Odyssey can maintain this momentum.

But yeah I take your point.

Isn't that a reflection of the consoles success, rather than necessarily the individual game? The Wii sold a ridiculous amount so there were more potential customers for Galaxy.

It just boggles my mind how little of content PD is able to produce in fricking 4 years. I guess they should have skipped GT6 completely and spent 7 years making Sports. Maybe then it would have same amount of content as competition....

What a fuck up for PD, it's amazing that after all time Yamauchi has not been told to go fuck off. He was good but as much as I like GTS, you can tell Yamauchi lost the plot a really long time ago now. Someone else needs to take over and get shit in shape at PD, the missteps PD have made since 2010 is amazing to say the very least. Who knows how GTS will settle being a GAAS but at this particular moment, things are not looking good at all.

I definitely think Sony will do something this time though, that is 2 fucks ups in a row. The next game is going to be GT7 for sure, with full on campaign mode and all the content accumulated for GT Sport. Very inefficient studio are PD, it feels like Sony don't want to say anything to him because PD have been beasts for them but I feel time for leniency went long ago.

GT7 needs to have loads of content, so all Sport DLC + NEW.

If it doesn't have then rip, those are terrible numbers by GT Standards.

5M lf for GT is bad.

Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart, Zelda and even FIFA disappeared from the chart. That's very strange and irritating. Those 4 and Horizon were the 5 five best-selling games of 2017. It would have looked like :

1&2) Mario Odyssey or Mario Kart
3) Fifa PS4
4) Horizon
5) Zelda

Yeah I wasn't sure for those two. I stand corrected. It is shame that the hundreds of very good reviews are no longer linked to these games :/

https://ukie.org.uk/news/2017/11/‘call-duty-wwii’-storms-no1-spot-its-debut-week

Activision Blizzard's 'Call of Duty: WWII' debuts in customary fashion at No1 and just like last year's 'Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare' this is a 3 format release (PS4/Xbox One/PC). Week 1 sales of 'WWII' are significantly higher than 'IW'.

Ubisoft's 'Assassin's Creed Origins' drops from a debut at No1 to No2 this week, followed at No3 by EA's 'FIFA 18'. Nintendo drop 2 places to No4 with Switch 'Super Mario Odyssey' and Sony's PS4 'Gran Turismo Sport' remains at No5. The only other new entry within the Top 40 is Focus Home Interactive's 'Spintires: Mudrunner' debuting at No24 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

EDIT: More details on COD by GFK

Week 1 sales of 'WWII' are significantly higher than 'IW', in fact some 57% higher in units and 21% higher in revenue (last year sales on Legacy / Legacy Pro editions were substantial, which is why overall ASP last year was significantly higher).

So WWII being 57% higher equals 514,960, I think.

"Week 1 sales of 'WWII' are significantly higher than 'IW'."

I guess IW will be the last sci-fi COD for a while.
Treyarch's Call of Duty is 2 years into development. Infinity Ward's is almost a year into development. Remember that we only got WWII because Sledgehammer had a studio vote between Advanced Warfare II and WWII.

Next year's Call of Duty is extremely likely to be Black Ops 4. Black Ops III sold ridiculously well despite its train-go-boom-wreck of a campaign, and I wouldn't be surprised if they go "back to roots" with a campaign focusing on "Black Ops" stuff. Conspiracies, DA NUMBERS, REZNOV, etc.

Nice. Thread worthy? Cant make one.

"In particular, for Assassin's Creed Origins, which only dropped 36% in its second week on sale. This is an unusually low drop for a second week of a major AAA game, and suggests the franchise may be set for a comeback, too. The decent second week was boosted by an improved performance for the Xbox One version of the game, which has a cheaper average selling price compared to the PS4 edition (sales of the PS4 and Xbox One versions were 50/50 this week)"

05 (01) GRAN TURISMO: SPORT (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) - 29,000 / 103,000

Wolfenstein II with a 55% second week drop puts it at 13,000 / 42,000
GT Sport is 1 place ahead of it in the all formats chart this week, but unknown by how much, so GT Sport >13,000 / >116,000

Why the Xbox version of assassins creed cheaper than the ps4?

It sold 60% PS4, 40% Xbox One last week, so maybe it sold slightly below expectations on that side for a MS marketed game.

Some good legs for GT. Once Sony start bundling it in earnest, it won't leave the top 20 for a good long while.

Honestly surprised that CoD is on the rise again. I thought the world was still sick of WW2-set war games, but I guess not.
