This is an older Top 10.
But, coincidentially enough, Postabargain posted this week's one (they skipped last week)

Huh, those FIFA and Battlefront splits are huge this week.

edit:
misread as ltd

That's pretty good for Mario and Rabbids right?
that game is holding extremely well. Much better than I thought.
I think when it was shown at E3 I predicted 3-4 million LTD for it. While a lot of other people were more in the 1-2 million range since the genre isn't big.
I'm feeling better week by week.

Yeah, I think that's about 40% or so of first week sales, really good legs (did it have sales this week? I recall something like that).

02 (02) FIFA 18 (EA SPORTS) - 121,030 / 1,763,930 [-30%]

with 3% FIFA switch would be up to ~53k retail.

on it's own it seems like a decent number, but it's a drop in the bucket for FIFA.
Wonder if it was enough for EA. Also wonder about digital of course.

maybe one day we'll get numbers for nba and fifa.

That 3% is for this week, not for total sales. For the full sales, it's likely lower, although it's had a decent number of weeks at the 3% range already.

Wish they'd update us on Xbox x, we need to see how's it's performed against PS4 and see if any tides are changing.

2.The Switch can be a vital platfom for certain games like Sonic, but kind of embarrassing for others like Fifa.

The Switch doesn't have the userbase to push huge numbers. Therefore its split will look favorable with average selling games like Sonic or LA Noire but it can't with bigger titles like FIFA. FIFA PS4 sold about the same as SMO on its launch week !

Nonetheless it has legs, 3500 copies sold again this week, so at the end of the day it will sell horribly in comparison but decently overall.

I don't think EA will care much about the Switch when it comes to their big titles. It sold 53k maybe but I reckon not a lot of people are actually playing FUT on that version.

3% is for this week alone... ~3.5k sold.

It is probably way below 53k lifetime.

I must say, I wasn't impressed by Odyssey first week (lower than 100k) but after being in top 10 all these weeks and outselleing Zelda I think it has been a success in UK.

So since it seems FiFA 18 PS4 did similar to Odyssey's launch week Possibly, then that puts it around 121k? Then breaking it down around 3.5k for Switch and 360 version?
I'm just estimating of course. Then with around an average of 2k a week after a 8k launch.

Should be around the range of 30-40k if my estimates serve me well?

For what it's worth the FUT transfer market for Switch it's around 10% or the how it is on PC from a size point of view. And it increased quite a bit during the Black Friday rush which means the FUT players on Switch are pretty much as active as everywhere else.

Wut? It is only behind FIFA and CoD in revenue ranking... it is doing tons of money.

I guess Sony is happy with lower margins due to discounted prices.

I don't really understand why "price drops" always fully explain better sales. Ask Bethesda how it's working for Prey.

I think the bundling is more important.

It doesn't. But it's part of the picture. The comparison with Prey doesn't make sense at all. GTS is advertised by Sony and belongs to one of the biggest franchises in gaming history.

FIFA did about 121k total this week:
UK Week 48, 2017

01 (01) CALL OF DUTY: WWII (ACTIVISION) - 149,280 / 1,342,280 [-40%]
02 (02) FIFA 18 (EA SPORTS) - 121,030 / 1,763,930 [-30%]
03 (03) GRAN TURISMO: SPORT (SONY COMPUTER ENT.)
04 (04) STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT II (EA GAMES) - 49,647 / 253,747 [-33%]
05 (05) ASSASSIN'S CREED ORIGINS (UBISOFT)
06 (08) SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY (NINTENDO)
07 (06) FORZA MOTORSPORT 7 (MICROSOFT)
08 (19) MARIO KART 8 DELUXE (NINTENDO)
09 (17) GRAND THEFT AUTO V (ROCKSTAR)
10 (16) CRASH BANDICOOT N.SANE TRILOGY (ACTIVISION)
Switch should be about 3,600, and XB360 should be about 2,400 units.

As i did start this last week, i'll continue now.

Forza Motorsport 7 retail sales in the UK:
Week 40: 25k< X <33k
Week 41: 9k< X <12k (64% WoW drop)
Week 42:
Week 43:
Week 44: 8k< X <13k
Week 45: 12k< X <19.5K (50% WoW increase)
Week 46: >10.5k
Week 47: >45k (332% WoW increase)
Week 48: <34k

So Forza 7 sold already above 150k units in total.
I see if we have enough data for GTS and can do that, too

Couple that with Switch's paid online services not implemented yet it would like cause the number using FUT to decrease. Less playing means likely to be able to monetise it.

But it is big because there is demand. Price unlocks that demand but it doesn't always, which is the point of the comparison. It is never that simple as to drop price (or compress margin) and watch sales improve.

FIFA Switch sales:

Week 39: ~8,300 (1% of 830,000)
Week 40: ~2,500
Week 41: ~2,320
Week 42: ~1,910
Week 43: ~1,700
Week 44: ~1,410
Week 45: >1,410 (no explicit new sales number, but up from previous week)
Week 46: no numbers
Week 47: no numbers
Week 48: ~3,600

The numbers we know add up to 23k, but that's a highly erroneous number, since it is missing two weeks, and it doesn't take the error margins of the percentages into account (1% means anything from 0,51% to 1,49%). So, don't run with this number, but pour salt onto it instead. That said, I think FIFA Switch might be at or close to 30k right now, definitely over with digital added, of course.

The fact that a price drop per se is not enough to trigger demand seems a pretty obvious and established fact. The point is, GT is selling because of a price drop, which is worrying given the status of the franchise and how recent the game is.

So Gran Turismo Sport sold already above 300k units in total

Sorry, there is not enough data to do that.
But if you don't mind to wait until years end, we get a full year chart and see where Forza Horizon 3 charted and performed this year.

Should easily outsell Forza Motorsport 7 this year and could even beat GTS...

Wasn't 27k in launch week? As Eurogamer stated: GTS outsold FM 7 in almost 3:1 ratio in launch week.
Well we could make it 25k < X <33k to be even more precise.
<33k was a number from being down XX% over FH3 or FM6 in an older Pal Chart topic and i used that.

So thanks for the number.

Holly boy GT Sport with another week as big as launch week, Jesus!

Also wow Ps4 sales!

Actually looking at it now Rayman Legends must have done very well in the UK out of all its platform releases.

It caters really well to the audience on Nintendo platforms, just like Mario+Rabbids, Just Dance, Sonic, and the Lego titles. These titles have traditionally always done relatively well on Nintendo platforms despite the "3rd parties don't sell on Nintendo systems" myth.

Very promising results for FIFA on Switch. It has a shot at selling over 500k ww untill the next installment. I dont think any other FIFA performed this well on a Nintendo system which means the Switch is reaching to a broader audience then the typical family oriented market.

Yeah, I think that's about 40% or so of first week sales, really good legs (did it have sales this week? I recall something like that).
I know in my case, i bought this and Odyssey as a Christmas present to myself. I've got friends as well who are looking to buy it before Christmas after picking up Switch consoles in Black Friday.

I reckon the surge of Switch games is people getting them now that their Black Friday purchases have been shipped to them and they want more.

Let's be real - it's only selling well because of a huge price reduction. It's selling a lot of copies, but not making much money. Personally I'm disappointed to see it at no. 3 in the charts, I hoped more gamers would boycott it and punish Sony for ruining the single player experience.

Bloody hell...

If the game had bombed, Sony would have released a proper GT 7 a year or two later. But since consumers rewarded this half-assed effort, they have no motivation to make a proper GT title now.

Man, GT Sport really hurt you. Until now you only talked about how the game is shitty and undeserving of any success.

Why don't you create a thread about how Sony/Polyphony shattered your dreams? I'm sure you'll find lots of users that agree with you.

We should be discussing sales in here, not how much we hate a particular game.

Half assed?

Just because it's a game with a multiplayer/online focus it doesn't make it half assed. I will be the first to admit that it could do with more tracks and cars but what is there is the best stuff PD have ever made. It's fantastic and there's a level of polish that we haven't seen from them in over a decade.

And no, if the game had bombed then it's more realistic that it would be the end of the line for the franchise or cut funding for any future iterations.

The selfish attitude of "it needs to be exactly what I want or it should fail" needs to end. Your favourite developers will try something new/different from time to time and you should want them to be successful in their endeavours. Why? Because it means there's more chance they will make another game that caters to your tastes.
