Star Wars seems to be doing pretty well. Its performance gives me hope for a sequel with a higher budget and more polish which can be the series Uncharted 2 moment.

selling less than spiderman, days gone, god of war, gran turismo, horizon zero dawn and even medievil (all games that were released before DS) in the italy chart is quite telling. it fell off HARD.

Not trying to defend DS legs but those games are all having sales until the end of the month (GOW, Horizon, GT are available for 14,99 in my country for example, most likely the same for the rest of EU like the hardware) so that explains why they are appearing on the charts, which I assume are based on units and not revenue.

yeah but it's still a month old flagship game selling less than two year old games from the same publisher. and then there's medievil, a low budget remake released two weeks before DS, even that one is selling more. in other charts like UK it's showing week legs too, already close to being out of top 40.

Oh for sure, I was just trying to give some context for those games appearing on the charts :)

Luigi on #3. That's mighty impressive considering no digital, wow.
holy shit. it jumped from 6 last week to 3 this week. i'm so impressed with luigi's legs.

edit: and it's selling more than pokemon sword! i know it's probably behind if they combined sword and shield but still, very impressive.

I don't know where Nintendo soup got the Top 20 chart from game.de since it's not on their site (maybe it was up for a short time and they removed it again?) but here it is:
Nintendo is having an impressive presence in Germany now.

For a big month like November, seeing 12 exclusives charting in a top 20 is outstanding.

More generally there are only 5 games on that top non-available on Switch.

I am seeing a lot of Switch commercials in France on TV. Only today I saw Luigi's Mansion 3 several times but also Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and RingFit.

I am looking forward for some 2019 numbers because the Switch seems to have a fantastic year here.

I was in France last week and seeing all those commercials made me wonder why I never see those in the U.S. Granted, I no longer watch much TV, but I've almost never seen a Switch ad on TV in the U.S.
I remember the 2017 Super Bowl ad feeling special because Nintendo ads on the main channels were so rare.
France feels like Japan with regards to Nintendo's presence in TV commercial breaks.

Not looking good for ring fit adventure in Europe, but at least it's not a disaster like Labo

Ring Fit Adventure was #14 in this week's EMEAA charts, so try again.

Speaking of RingFit, I have checked a few Amazon sites in Europe and it looks like stock is starting to become very low. It's currently sold out on Amazon in France, Germany, Spain and the UK.

New Gamesindustry article:

Gamesindustry said:
Call of Duty was just 3,000 sales ahead of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which is at No.2. The licensed EA game is probably benefitting from the excitement around the upcoming Star Wars movie -- The Rise of Skywalker. Sales for the game rose 30% week-on-week, and if it manages a similar feat next week (not unthinkable with the release of the movie), it might be a rare moment where neither Call of Duty or FIFA takes home the Christmas crown.

As an outside bet for Christmas No.1 there is Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, which has enjoyed a very strong December following the launch of a special Nintendo Switch bundle. However, week-on-week sales are down 30%, so it would be a surprise if the perennial seller manages to knock out FIFA, Star Wars or Call of Duty.

Mario Kart is currently at No.4 and is just holding off its friendly rival Luigi's Mansion 3, with just 2,000 boxed units separating the two games this week (Luigi's sales were up 49% week-on-week). Luigi's Mansion 3 has been a real hit for Nintendo this Christmas. Although it doesn't match the sales of Pokémon Sword and Shield, the puzzle adventure game has far exceeded previous games in the franchise, and has sold more copies than other popular Switch games this year - including New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, Super Mario Maker 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.

LM3 sales are up 49% week on week, so these are the estimated sales:

Week 1 ~= 50k
Week 2 ~= 20k
Week 3 > 13.5k
Week 4 > 15k
Week 5 > 15k (up WoW)
Week 6 > 13.8k (8% down WoW)
Week 7 > 20.6k (49% up WoW)

Total > 147.9k, potentially notably higher depending on how much higher the 'greater than' signs go.

The game has passed Super Mario Maker 2 in terms of sales (to quote Dring, "that says more about how well LM3 is doing"), that's a great performance. It's also going up a ton during these holiday weeks, so we should be seeing some more big numbers in the next few weeks. Game is definitely a huge success.

some tidbits:
  • call of duty sales dropped 10%, fifa sales dropped 41%.
  • star wars sales increased 30%, most likely because of the hype around the new film. call of duty beat it by only 3000 units. star wars could be #1 next week.
  • mario kart 8 sales dropped 30%, beating luigi's mansion by only 2000 units.
  • luigi's mansion 3 sales were up 49%. LM3 has already surpassed the sales of new super mario bros u deluxe, super mario maker 2 and link's awakening.
  • tekken 7 and project cars 2 re-enter the chart because of an xbox one bundle.
  • there are 9 titles in the top 40 featuring mario.

I noticed Gamesindustry started combining the sales drop over the total Pokémon sales, not over the individual skus (that is, they added the double pack as part of the drop). I've adjusted the sales brackets, and found the following (up to this week's numbers, for which we don't have a drop yet):

Week 1:
Sword > 102.5k, Shield < 88.5k
Sum = 191k

Week 2:
Sword -58%, Shield -65%
Sword >43k, Shield < 31k
Sum = 74k-75.6k

Week 3:
Sword +6%, Shield -1%
Sword > 45.6k, Shield < 30.7k
Sum = 76k-79k

Week 4:
Sword -41%, Shield -41%
Sword > 27k, Shield < 15k
Sum = 44.8k-46.6k

Week 5: (Unknown)

Total = 385.8k-392.2k (week 1-4)

Edit: Dring said the game had 13% and 14% drop. This gives us:
Week 5:
Sword > 23.5k, Shield < 12.9k
Sum = 38.5k-40.5k

Estimated total = 424.3k-432.7k (including week 5)

He talked about a slight dip for week 5 so the game is probably in the 425k-435k range now.
