Looter shooter sales:

Destiny 417k
Destiny 2 175k
The Division 277k

80k is a bad performance, it's a massive looter shooter with big marketing.

If it does 80k in the UK week one with high digital ratio it will have no problem selling according (and over) to EA's estimations: 5-6 million by the end of March. Destiny 1 and The Division are probably the best-selling shooters of all-time not counting BF and COD. D1 and Division are also the fastest-selling new IPs of all time along with Watch Dogs 1. No other loot shoother is gonna come close to those numbers in the UK. The Division 2 will also be around 100k, anybody expecting much bigger numbers will be dissapointed.

Smash losing its legs in Europe? Or is that normal?

It's not losing legs.

Literally what. Not even in japan did NSMBUDX come out on top in January. That's a massive shock to me that it wasn't handily beaten by KH3 and RE2

I mean there are 5 games featuring Mario in the Top 10 - Switch is very strong here and post Christmas they probably were a bunch of families/players looking for new content for their new consoles.

From the report,

FIFA 19:
945,190 on PS4
185,780 on Xbox One
156,854 on Switch

I wasn't expecting such numbers on switch!

Relative to other countries, DK did comparatively well in France

Its higher than Kiby and Mario Tennis there despite being lower WW.

Interesting to watch going forward. For whenever the next DK hits.

What kind of narrative is that? I compared it to a CoD game that released the year before, not US sales. It sold half of what WWII did in FRANCE (at retail) and it released weeks earlier.
I mean look at what kind of games sell in France - they dropped a CoD without a story campaign and this last year had RDR2 in addition to God of War/Spiderman setting the tone in terms of AAA releases for "big boy" consoles.

In a post Fortnite world Activision must be crazy to expect similar numbers in France.

But with a Battle Royale mode. They probably expected that the Battle Royale mode would push this game massively (in fact, I doubt they expected it to go down this much considering the popularity of BR and the perceived (probably wrongly) notion that single player campaigns do not sell). A 40% drop in sales does not seem like the expected performance for this game. Competition is a factor, of course, but that still seems too much for COD to drop 40% purely due to that imo.

Do you think Activision removed SP and added a freakin BR mode in their biggest CoD franchise (Black Ops) and expected worse sales than WWII? They did not. Also I'm willing to bet that the sales have almost nothing to do with SP.

Another things they don't understand is Fortnite is free to play it helps, same for Apex Legends.

But Game Pass has proven on many occasions that it doesn't cannibalize traditional sales. Sea of Thieves sold good, Forza Horizon 4 sold great.
Horizon 4 was largely due to bundling though. Just like Horizon 3 always charted until they got rid of it's official bundle then it didn't chart every week anymore.

Anthem sold around 10% what Destiny sold in its first week. (UK Packaged sales comp)
