Rockstar/Take 2 climb 1 place to No2 with 'GTA V' and Activision climb 5 places to No3 with 'Call of Duty WWII'. This week's biggest new release is Konami's 'Metal Gear Survive' for PS4/Xbox One debuting at No6.
Last week's 'Kingdom Come: Deliverance' from Deep Silver drops from a debut at No2 to No12 this week. Further down the chart there are re-entries for Sony's PS4 'Uncharted 2' and 'Uncharted: Drake's Fortune' at No's 34 and 36 due to retail promotion. Right behind these two sits the only other new release to make the Top 40 – Bandai Namco's 'Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet' debuts at No37 for PS4/Xbox One.

Fifa at top because of the Switch version ? What a time to be alive.

Good and expected legs on Bayo 2 - some people wanted to start their Doom & Gloom parties a bit too early last week.

MHW and SoTC going strong, good job UK.

MG Survive bombing hard after the huge success of MGSV says a lot how the MGS franchise will do without Kojima and his team.

Mario Kart is much bigger than Super Mario.

Mario Kart Wii outsold Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and New Super Mario Bros. combined.

That would be NSMB Wii there yes?

The first NSMB on DS was a juggernaut so I'd imagine it'd have a different effect if included.

Your point is well made though about the popularity of Mario Kart in the U.K. though. Massive sales consistently.

You mean the character because it's only been two weeks?

No, I mean the game. I was being obviously tongue-in-cheek with my phrasing but as has already been pointed out it is nevertheless impressive how this version is outperformed the original release with this position it occupies right here.

It's a fairly interesting week.

Those multi-format games for the PS4 are nearly - or virtually on the dot - a 2:1 ratio to Xbox One. The gap continues to grow wider, albeit gradually so.

FIFA 18 on the Switch is above the Xbox One version for the second week running...

And seeing Shadow of the Colossus holding on tight amongst the other colossis is great!

https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2018-02-26-uk-charts-metal-gear-survive-debuts-at-no-6

The Konami spin-off reached No.6. The last Metal Gear spin-off title, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in February 2013, debuted at No.2 and sold 85% more units in its first week.

[...]

Otherwise, it's a pretty quiet week for games once again. Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet is the only other new game at No.37. FIFA 18 retains the No.1 spot for a second week in a row. And promotional activity around the first 2 Uncharted games (the PS4 versions) sees both games return to the charts (Uncharted 2 up 575% and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune up 622%).

Last week's new titles have taken a sizeable tumble. Kingdom Come: Deliverance dropped from No.2 to No.12 with a 80% sales fall. While Bayonetta 2 for Switch dropped from No.5 to No.19 after a 71% sales plunge.

After a fairly feeble start, I'm impressed by FIFA Switch's legs- certainly enough to make FIFA 19 feasible, and hopefully enough to either encourage feature and promotion parity in future, or to get EA to set a more reasonable price for what they're offering.

FIFA Switch was at 30% last week iirc so 29% this week is a nice hold. Once its price will go up again I expect it to fall back to the typical 1-5% range (unless this is a permanent price drop then it can do some solid numbers in the next couple of months).

Payday 2 on Switch seemingly made no impression, will be interesting to see where it came on the Switch chart

It did 10% the week before the price drop

I think its permanent, unless EA see the sales and decide to try it higher again. All version have had a price drop, the Switch version just saw the biggest one

Yes, New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

And now that you mentioned New Super Mario Bros. I don't have the figures here but I find likely that it outsold Mario Kart DS, but that would be the exception rather than the rule.

Indeed, DS games really don't seem fair in comparison, particularly to console games. Might not ever see DS like stats again.

Thanks for the insight regardless. I knew MK Wii was huge but I wouldn't have thought it outsold all Mario Wii platform games combined.

40 quid is a bargain for 2 incredible games (I say that as someone that happily paid 70 on the Wii u and 70 on the switch for them)
I have the PC version of the first game so that 2 in 1 deal does nothing for me. I already have bayo 2 on the wiiu but I never use that console anymore (disk drive is loud as fuck).

What its worth to anyone has no effect on how appropriately its priced. As someone who bought bayo 2 day one again and beat it already , the whole package should have been around $30 - $40 IMO. It has marginal visual improvements and no new content or dlc. It may be worth it to you but the current market standards at better than that. Were getting full blown remakes for $40 , sometimes even 3, kingdom hearts packages both remasters into 1 and added 4k and 60fps for $60.
Even cheaper ports like dragons dogma that do nothing more than a resolution bump and framerate stabilization dont cost more than $40 anywhere. As games get older they should naturally get cheaper.
